the German versions were simply incredible and for the first time ever managed to beat the brits at their own game: Humour. The German versions were simply fantastic and highly entertaining. I'd go so far as to say that each episode was dramatically improved merely due to the translation, or better said German version as often things were not (and cannot) be directly tanslated. Die Serie auf Deutsch ist Teil meine Kindheit. Hier haben die Deutschen etwas Englisches wesentlich verbessert. Bravo.

The german version is great, i dont know what the english version is like, but in german Danny doesn't get out a single sentence correctly. He always mixes up grammar and words and word endings and french words - i'll die laughing soon!

Great, great show. Not sure if the Stiller version coming out soon will do it justice, but if does well at thebox office, maybe they'll bring the old series back on cable for a bit. Hadn't heard the theme in years, but remembered it instantly when I played this. Thanks for sharing!

The German version is absolutely hilarious, i love it! (Thanks to Rainer Brandt and his team!!). Too sad the english version is not so funny, you miss a lot.

Granted, the German dubbing IS funny, but the English version has its moments, too. Just in a very different way that you can't translate into another language because it consists mostly of the differences between the American and the English culture, language and pronounciation.

I think it's great that DVDs make it possible to own both versions - I like them both.

This show was incredibly well done -- the chemistry was marvelous. I still remember it clearly from the 70s .. a pity it didn't last so long. For those in the know, it's one of the best TV series ever.
