lol at 1:41, me want them quick shampoo 2:03 and 2:29 lol. 4:23 XD, 4:33 and 4:41 LOL O.O 5:13 that bird needs to go into the mental ward the best part is at 6:00 at least the Italian made it out there with his life.
Excellent copy!!! I have one on 16 mm color film, but it's badly damaged and spliced. Most of the begining 2 minutes you can not understand what Woody is saying. The early versions as this was tuned towards WWII generation. I have ones from the 60's or 70's that have a differant tone to the story. BUT WHO REALLY DID THE VOICE??? Was it Walter Lance's wife?? It was not Mel Blanc!!! He worked for Warner Brothers.
Look what entertainment we had before people of delicate sensibilities took over. Believe it or not, there was a day when we could make fun of ourselves.
They don't make cartoons like they used to... Hell, they don't even show cartoons like Woody Woodpecker, MGM stuff, Looney Toones, or even Disney's 1940's stuff on any network, disrespectful bastards!
Well, here in Brazil, Woody Woodpecer never disapeared, this cartoon passed by a lot of tv channels, and the channel that shows this cartoon today even use Woody as a mascot of the channel. :D
This cartoon had some pretty neat film-making techniques ahead of its time. For example, the quick jump cuts near the finale of the cartoon. It wasn't until around the 60s this kind of thing was done in films.
Also, it was actually a top opera singer who provided Woody's singing voice for the "Barber of Seville".
@Weikko79 is right they played back the already recorded dialogue at a slightly higher speed, Ben Hardaway provided the voice so there is no way he had this high a voice unless sumone was squeezing his balls while recording lol
U know te crazy thing??? There wasn't alot if any types of voice modification electronically which means prolly 99% to 100% of this thing was a natural performance :P hahaha that's nuts!!!!!!!!!!!
@ejblackhawk Are you kidding? Most of the classic Warner Bros. cartoon voices (Porky Pig, Daffy Duck, Tweety Pie, you name it) were electronically modified. The same with this cartoon, obviously!
@ejblackhawk It's common knowledge that some of Mel Blanc's voices (e. g. Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Pie) were electronically speeded up; otherwise it's not humanely possible that one man could have come up with such a range of voices. What makes people think that electronical speeding-up is some kind of a super-modern invention anyway?
@weikko79 im not saying that at all im saying that the majority of this performance was natural... im not saying they were stupid and didnt know how to speed it up and make it sound all goofy like that but again this was 1944... i doubt it was to THIS much of an extreme
@ejblackhawk If you think that anyone could have a natural voice like the one Woody Woodpecker has in this cartoon, well, I just don't know what I an say...
He's lucky Woody didnt sing "Pretty Women".
