This plane is sitting in our paint hangar. As we are stripping it in preparation for the new paint job, we are seeing that the ailerons and possibly some of the other control surfaces appear to be made out of magnesium or something other than aluminum. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance.
One of our customers owns this plane now. It is sitting down in our paint hangar. I have heard people talk about the differences between the RR Merlins and the Packard Merlins. Is there any obvious way to tell from the outside the aircraft which version of the Merlin this aircraft has? It is a P-51D, AAF sn 44-74009. Now, this may be a moot point anyway because I am fairly sure this engine, regardless of which Merlin it is, has been worked over by the folks at Roush Racing.
nice to see ths bird again! it spent a lot of time on cape cod. i got to fly in it 2 times when bob ferguson owned it. he sold it to billy Mcgrath owner of island air in hyannis. he sold a few years ago and haven't seen it since. sure is pretty. i miss the sound of that big 12 cylinder engine on a friday afternoon.
Well, I'm happy to hear at least one of us had the chance to ride in a Mustang! It's always been a dream of mine. Until that time comes, there's always Combat Flight Sim. LOL In May they're having the N'awlins Airshow at the Belle Chasse NAS. I'm hoping to get some decent video there.
I bet it was an awesome experience. I'm jealous! I was at the New Orleans Air show yesterday. Didn't have a chance to review my videos yet. If they're decent I'll post them. That F-22 was something to see, as was Crazy Horse 2. Thanks for the comment.
Awesome Video! Just finished reading a book on the Bluenosers. The pilot of the original Moonbeam McSwine was from right here in good old Louisiana. Thanks for the comment.
Is that Whistling Death it taxis by? :D
