  • 14000 plus viewings, well done Stephen, thats fabulous!

  • thanks for posting!

  • The Kingsway tunnel is unmistakable. It's changed a bit since then though!

  • Listen closely to the audio around 04:00.. can you hear it on your right speaker ? (:

  • Stephen, thanks to you and Eddy Q for posting this and the subsequent interest in this classic film. If you mail me to th address in my previous comment I'll bring you up to date with all I know about the film, its stars and its history!

  • My dad was Eric Wilson & we had this film put onto a VHS tape in about 1990. I did some copies after my Dad died which were sold at bike shows. Only realised after selling 500 copies that we only had 27 minutes of the original film on tape! After a 15 year search I've found a full 40 minute version which has now been copied to DVD. If anyone would like a copy please mail me. dave-bonner@hotmail.com Ta, Dave Wilson

  • Brilliant Vid. Some of todays' riders could do with watching this.

  • In the shot with 4 people in trench coats, is the guy on the far left Arthur Sur by any chance? Thanks very much for posting.

  • @kaferere I had taken him to be Bill Quinn (who I don't really remember) but I think you're right about it being Arthur (I remember him as Sir rather than Sur). I knew Arthur well, but when he (and I!) was older: I think I might be the toddler at 18 minutes,

  • @12dogbreath12 That's amazing, I only knew Arthur when he had gained a little bit of weight (don't we all!) and had lost some hair but facially it looks very much like him. He had quite a unique face. He was my my driving instructor in the early '70's. He was co-pilot in the East African safari rally once. I'm not sure of the spelling of his name either, I was guessing! He used to talk a lot about the old days on his motorbike, he loved the bikes. Lovely bloke. Thanks for replying

  • @kaferere Yes he was a lovely bloke.

Often around our house when I was growing up and all the films were being made - he was my father's right hand man.

And yes, the 'body shape' put me off the scent

Mind you I remember when I worked at Horsmans in the 70s, Arthur bounding up the stairs 3 at a time and saying 'not bad for a 56 year-old' or something similar.

  • @12dogbreath12 He also taught me to drive: this was a bit of pressure as my dad was a road safety guru and Arthur was his right hand man! He taught me in an Escort but told me to take the test in a Mini as I was capable of reversing that around a corner (unlike the Escort)... I passed, phew.

  • Thanks for the post!!

  • Motorcyclists need professional training. Watching videos is a good start, and certainly better then nothing, but professional training gives you feedback from someone that is able to critique and give advice so you can be a very proficient rider.

  • I shouldn't laugh, but the accident depictions are hilarious.

  • @17primemover Oi, that's my mum driving the car and my big sister nearly getting run over. Plus my dad is the talking head at the start and commentates throughout with his posh accent on. No dissing please, this film won an Oscar (OK, for British amateur films)

  • Thanks for posting! I really enjoyed this clip.

  • Yup, much of it is still current today.

  • If you make a few small allowances for changes in kit and machinery over the years, this film is surprisingly relevant to todays' rider. It's a great instructional video.

  • great vid i bought my first bike a triumph tiger cub from horsmans.

  • If you look carefully at around 25 seconds in you will see a winners cup to the right (as you look) of Victor Horsman, Steve from Z Power Leigh Lancs. says he won that cup 3 times in the following years, in a Horsman sponsored, road race championships,

  • very interesting, thanks for posting
