I remember this tour it was 1986 or 1987 with Grim Reaper and Helloween called the Hell On Wheels tour!!---Then Headbangers Ball(MTV) showed the full concert--good days!!
dude had an orange challenger, badass car. they would hang out in back of the club after the show and drink beer and b.s. with everyone. always had time for us young heads with stars in our eyes. way cool. thanks guys.
Damn this takes me back to the Cameo Theatre in San Antonio in the 80's where they opened for Metallica(back when Metallica was still metal). After they finished with their set they just hung out with everyone until Metallica played-coolest dudes ever!!Rest in peace Dave-you were one of the most overlooked/underrated guitarist of all time brother.
Good friends from way back in South Pasadena. I never really rated Johns voice back then but damn they were great live!! Seen many times at the Ice House, Perkins Palace, Country Club in Reseda.....anyone remember these places????
@SimonMiriamfan Oh yes, we remember...haha, Perkins Palace...just the name brings back memories. And what about Pookies in Pasadena??...when they started out doing Judas Priest covers.
I remember seeing Dave at South Pas. High all the time, but I drove thru there about ten yrs. ago and it's ALL Asian!! (not just on Monterey Hill anymore) But other than that everything else looks the same (like in a time warp).
@wyzapple - my god - i remember perkins palace - you could get a ticket like for 5 bucks. I lived in Alhambra and some band Abattoir used to invite us watch them practice on valley blvd. back in 1979 way before the heavy metal scene hit. And pookies - god that brings back memories. Armored Saint brought the crowds and had its loyal fans. Thanks for reminding me how great the 80's were and how old i am.
I like Armored Saint and all, but I remember when this come out of Headbangers Ball. I watched and thought it was cool, but honestly, by that time I had already soaked in music much more brutal.
I learned about Armored Saint when they were the first on a 3 band bill (opened for Metallica on the Ride the Lightning Tour who were opening for WASP, back when they actually wore ring and chain mail on stage. They opened with March of the Saint and I was hooked from that moment on. To this day my two favs are "March.." and "Madhouse". The majestic opening of March and the absolute energy of both of them still get my adrenaline flowing.
john bush belongs in armored saint and not anthrax.
