Never ever let these sit in water. All you have to do to have a healthy, happy peace lily is to water it as soon as it starts to droop a little bit. If you live in a dry area or don't have much humidity in your house, then just take a spray bottle and mist it a couple times a day. That's all I've ever done to mine and its huge with lots of reoccurring blooms.

just so you know this is not the kind infomation you want to water a pice lily this is probally a hybrid lily thats designed to grow in a bog.

the pice lily that you get in your local hard ware store is grown in soil, not soggy soil. you let it dry out COMPLETELY.Then you let the leaves droop, don't be afraid, just drench the plant with water, and remember let it dry out COMPLETELY

What can you do when the leaves are 'drooping' (i.e., they are not standing when I purchased the plant a few weeks ago.)

I agree I read never let this plant sit in water. So i am confused as well.
