Thanks for the vid. Very cool to see. Just wondering, though: Does all this weigh you down a bunch? How big of a pack do you end up having to take with you when you go winter camping? I've been wanting to do some real winter camping, but I'm trying to do it on limited gear/weight and am not sure how that'll work out for me, lol
@yukonfawn thanks for the advice .on The sleeping bag I have the zip runs down the center not the sides it doesn't have a temp rating because they can loose heat in the storing sheds and they sit there for a while but mines fine it really warm on cool nights. And do u know what a swag is If so what do u think of them? Thanks
@sk8en13 I think the value of a swag depends entirely on how you've got it set up and your environment. Some bags don't work well when they've been rolled because they lose their loft; those same bags are meant for stuffing, which you don't really do with a swag.
That was really help full where I live the temp on a freezing cold night will only drop to -2 so not freezing but still cold . I have a swag and a simple army surplus geese down hooded sleeping bag . the good thing about my sleeping bag is it has a thick flap to cover the zip and stop holt air escaping
@sk8en13 Thanks for the comment! "Zipper flaps" are great. Definitely a must when buying a cold-weather bag. When using more than one bag without the flaps, it's worthwhile to nest the bags so the zippers are on opposite sides (something I didn't do in this video). Of course, that doesn't work as well with mummy-style bags.
Another thing to consider when buying a winter bag is to make sure that the stitching/quilting on the bag doesn't run clear through the bag - another source of heat loss.
Thanks for making your video on your sleeping kit. I shared it on face book and I will be sharing it with all my scouts we learned so much from your videos I look foward to your future Videos. Again for all of your time and efforts
Nice tips,thanks for showing.
