@meksiiie You are welcome. I worked right after the tsunami for six months in Thaa Atoll. In Buruni, and with Vilifushi people. It was one of the most devastated areas. If you wish you can watch the series of videos I have about "Maldives forum". I tried to help in different ways. I don't know what is the political situation in Maldives now. Tell me something. about it. Thanks;-)
I'm Maldivian and I understand everything said on the video. I think this video is brilliant.
And any Maldivian here who thinks those words are not Dhivehi needs to attend some classes. He's not Maldivian and therefore the accent is not perfect, but the words are still Dhivehi.
@ahmadhsalim ... and that is the reason why this video was broadcasted in Maldives National TV, thank you;-)
Yes, I am not Maldivian and I am not pretending to be one. I am an Australian that offered his volunteer work in Maldives for six months right after the tsunami of 2004. I worked on some of the most devastated islands of Thaa Atoll, in Vilifushi and Buruni, and I learnt each of these words from the lovely local people. So whoever thinks these are not Maldivians words, go and ask them
@ahmadhsalim True. All the "roanu edhuru" idiots who are claiming to be Maldivians and saying this is not Dhivehi ought to have their national ID's confiscated or something.
All the words used in this song are names of coconuts at various stages, from flower to fully developed fruit and everything in between. Anybody who has any doubt can check any word on radheef.com.
Fuck this! this ain't maldivian, the fact that u know one word doesn't mean the song is maldivian, and who on earth would go around showing this on national tv? go home looser and show it on your national tv! haha sucker!
@shifxa There is no exception to this. All the trolls and people that go insulting here like this guy never have one single video or anything to show. They are just here for the simple pleasure of wasting their lives. You only have to click in the videos shown on the right column to have an impression of what I did in The Maldives. This video was found so funny by the local Maldivian TV that they broadcasted, get yourself informed (if you ever do that)
heheh kewl video.. well those 20 words are not for coconut itself..those names are different, each world from those 10 words are used in different stages of the coconut. Kurumba mean coconuts which we use to drink. Kabulhi mean the coconuts which we use to milk out of it..its like this.. anyways like the video! :D
I heard that Eskimos don't have a word to just say "snow", but they have a word for each specific type of snow. I suppose it's the same thing with coconuts.
What show us that the concept of reality is not the same for everyone. A comment above this points out that is not just "coconut" but different stages of the coconut. I imagine that for many people in the word there would be a word for : "embutido", but for Spaniards a"chorizo" it is not the same than "salchichón", or "morcilla", or "lomo"...
This is a very creative work.. :) im a maldivian and i blieve every single word does make sense.. i really appreciate your work :)

It is not an obsession, it is all they have. Like the Eskimos, I think they have over 20 words to name snow:)

@jamesfyo123 we do not have an obsession with coconuts, it just seems to be a common thing around here -.-

@jamesfyo123 Hahahahahahaha!
NO NO! Thats not it! Im actually A Maldivian!
The subtitles are all wrong! Kurumba is Coconut. Kahaashey means scrape and gobolhi is the smaller version of coconut I think. I cant explain that.
But HAHAHAHAHAH! This is hilarious! Good work though! (Y)
