10 Years already.. my oh my.. Things changed alot. I started with 99Max.. it was amazing.. But Since 06, 3dmark felt to me like "And now we you show, what your PC can't handle, look at this! but hey, don't worry, use this Alienware link to buy a $1200 PC and YOU can run THIS perfectly!" In other words, it's like creating a Benchmark that only gets good result, when you have the maximum Hardware that's avaidable at the time. I miss the old Style that max,2000 and 2001 used to have :)
This benchmark is becoming less and less useful each version. The more versions they release the more of a gap with real world games. And the last one is not free also.

Best demos were in 01 and 03... 05 and 06 are kinda *yawn* in that area. Then again it's a benchmark program...

About that "gap". It's not their fault really. It's more likely the
fault of the Direct X 9, and nVidia. They have modified
their cards to work as they want it to, and not the way as ATi thougth.
Right now with DX10, they tried it again, but because of the
hidden powers, and speeds within the DirectX 10 technology,
programmers slowly turning into the right direction.
But one thing is true. The 3d Mark 2005 and 2006 just beauty showcase,
and about Vantage, I don't want to talk about.
It's suxx

Yeah Vantage looks like a downfall from 3Dmark 05.
Hopfully this year coming up they'll come out with a sweet new benchmarking program.
