@thissucksyoun000000b What the hell do you mean ugly annoying and tasty? They are sweet, quiet and gentle. They add to the quality of life by simply being what they are. Sweet, gentle, affectionate lil' featherheads. And, if silence had a sound, it would be a Mourning Dove cooing. BTW, learn to spell you moron! The word you're looking for is "They're" a contraction of 'They are'. The fact that you did it twice tells me it's not a typo. You're just an illiterate waste of oxygen!
very cute, doves have a very gentle personality. in Hawai'i we dont have mourning doves and in Tulsa we dont have turtle doves and the large American doves. good post.
I used to keep Pigeons and RingNneck Doves, and once in a while a rescued baby Mourning Dove from wild would join the loft... they seem to fit right in with the rest of birds, no problem! :-)
@JcmdiStockFootage Lol :D You a good person! I have a Mourning Dove named KooKoo. I sometimes feel sorry for him because h keeps looking for a wife and I sometimes want to set him free, then I feel selfish and wanna keep him!
It could be difficult to predict where the doves might like to nest... They usually choose a very dense area of branches and leaves in a tree, which hides the nest and makes it harder for predators to access. Pigeons, on the other hand, like to nest under ledges and in nooks/crannies of buildings and such. I don't know if either kind of bird would go for a birdhouse type of nesting box, but it might be worth a try :-)
I've actually found my local doves to be extremely lazy and they love man-made platforms. When I put out a nest platform in my tree, a pair jumped at the opportunity, threw in about 5 sticks, called it a nest, and laid 3 successful clutches of eggs over the course of the year.
@MrKingkong57 That's not lazy. That's smart. They are taking advantage of an easy ready to go nest site. The fact that they didn't have to build much of anything means that all the more time could be devoted to raising and feeding chicks. Like if you had a ready made house you didn't have to buy and spend money on, wouldn't you take advantage? Sure you would. All that money saved could be banked or used to get a lot of 'cool stuff'.
hence my name i love doves and pigions this video is so calming and peaceful there something so relaxing about just sitting and watching birds and pigions and especially doves no wonder they are reffered to as the bird of peace just watch them and it just calms you:)
I'm happy you liked this one :-) I used to keep pigeons and doves a while back, and found them not only relaxing be around, but also interesting to watch their behaviors and see them raise their chicks. Plus, you can let the pigeons go fly outside during the day and get to enjoy them flying around. A quick shake of the food canister at dusk brings them all back inside for the night :-)
I've seen that behavior in many bird species - it appears to be a combination of mutual preening (since there are areas that a bird can't preen himself) and mating ritual, perhaps a sort of flirting. There doesn't seem to be anything harmful about it... just bonding and "playing". Birds tend to fluff-up a lot when they're cold, and also when they're showing off. In this case it was both; it was quite chilly, and these two were bonding just prior to mating for spring time :-)
They are lovley birds, but I don't like how twitchey and spazztic they are. I prefer owls, and hawks and other raptors because of how fluid they're motions are.
The Mouring Doves Are Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Cute!
These are beautiful birds--I have dozens that feed in my yard daily--but I have a Red Tail Hawk also :( He snatches one every day or so and I prefer not to witness the event, I wish he would find other dining accomodations--
Awe... sorry to hear that Mr. Redtail has chosen your Mourning Dove Cafe for his regular meal! It's true that they have to eat, too, but it's nicer when they help reduce the rodent population, or thin-out those pesky pigeons in the park instead of eating these much more desirable doves. In any case, thanks for watching and commenting :-)

Please respond!
#1: Why do mourning doves like attack each others mouths?
#2: Why do they ruffle their feathers and then peck at them?
Thanks! Happy Halloween everyone!

That's an interesting contrast - I think they're always nervous and on-edge because the birds of prey like to have them for lunch! XD
