  • man...i'm very new to this band...i kinda like it...need some info from a true fan...it would be very helpful!!!

  • This song is on god's playlist.

  • I swear.. oddest tuning out. bottom 3 strings tuned B F# B and higher 3 strings in standard, how does it work? Karnivool is how it works. No questions asked :P Amazing band.

  • @suavedot if you think the tuning is weird, don't even et me started on the time signatures for some songs...XD

    still awesome

  • @HammerNHook Hahah, man I write djent/groove metal.. Time signatures is where I'm at :P

  • Aaaaaahhh ian is a vocal god.

  • Best song I have heard in many years!!!!

  • Oh Yeah! AWESOME!!!!

  • awesome song, awesome band, but you guys got trolled rather easily there, just ignore the haters and love the music imo

  • @newfagscanttrif0rce Lol. If you think so, mate. I'd much rather listen to this than any other "pop music" but Karnivool are so much more than "generic and soft." But if you're going to spray hate on a fantastic band, you're missing out..

  • @newfagscanttrif0rce You, Dear sir, are a moron..

  • @minecrafterizing leave him alone, he must be on his PMS ;)

  • @newfagscanttrif0rce And here he is everybody. The faceless, self abusing, shit stirring, token whack job who just writes bullshit to fulfill his lonely life and get reactions from people as he cant leave his computer and interact with people face to face. Give it up for the one, the only newfagsablahblahthingydouche.

  • @skoottar

    U mad?

  • @newfagscanttrif0rce Go back to 4chan, newfag.

  • @newfagscanttrif0rce

    1. How soft is bad?

    2. This is far from souding like its made for radio airplay, with all the wierd atmospheric things all over the song.

  • @blobliblo35 Fuck the radio, who listens to that shit anyway? Go buy the album for Christ's sake.

  • @MrDuckFuk i work at a radio station :(

  • @MrDuckFuk i was anwsering someone saying this was made for the radio, i think you missed the point of my comment

  • @newfagscanttrif0rce Bitches!!

    HA!

  • @newfagscanttrif0rce If you actually think this is pop then your dumb

its alternative! get your music facts right

  • the progressive family (that i like xD)

Karnivool, Tool, dream theater, opeth, porcupine tree <3

  • love this already. sounds like this is what inspired them to carry on and do their sound awake album.

  • @TheArabassist I dont know man, i think sound awake was inspired more by the song Change

  • @TheArabassist it probably wasn't just 1 song

  • @TheArabassist ya they said they wanted a more progressive sound when they started working on their new album ..

this being one of the more progressive from the album

  • awesome!!

  • sounds like old alexisonfire, guy sounds like dallas green.

  • i could listen to this song forever

  • @tjbay1376 agree, its the whole song they focus on rather then the one killer riff. have u met the guys from karnivool??

  • ooh, it's so~ fucking ingenious!!

  • great band

  • and wtf is Bulb ;p

  • @Tsoglani55 Bulb is Misha's (guitarist of Periphery) other band. It's a djent-ing technical metal band. He also promotes technical rock bands like Tool and Karnivool.

  • love djent with clean vox? check HILLVALLEY watch?v=JOGRe1acJuI

  • sophisticated alternative rock .

  • Why the fuck does everyone compare absolute unique and different bands to each other? Stupid! Waste of time! Btw I'm a big Tool, APC, Karnivool and Rishloo Fan :D But no comparisons please...

  • @Stylebreed Add Fair to Midland to that list and it'll be much closer to complete, lol

  • @Stylebreed So you think that it's merely coincidence that you're a big Tool, APC, Karnivool and Rishloo fan and it has nothing to do with the fact that they have a very similar style?

I don't get it, why is everyone in denial? Karnivool are obviously influenced by Tool, but so many fans are like "NO, NO THEY'RE NOT. STOP SAYING THAT, IT"S NOT FAIR"

    It's rather peculiar.

  • @Darfaultner Okay, well Tool and APC have of course a similar style since there are same members (particularly). But Karnivool and Rishloo are still pretty unique to me. They may have a similar style but tone, rythems and motions are totally different to me.

  • MUST BUY DELAY PEDAL

  • @metalheadblues Boss dd-6 or nothing my friend

  • Such an awesome song!

  • i miss you glenn

  • @tjbay1376

I agree, even though Karnivool is in no way not technical music, somestimes the polytythms and absurd fast stuff just loses track of what really matters in music. The feelings it awakens within you.

  • I'll be honest, at first, I didn't like this band. Not because of their writing, but because I thought they weren't interesting enough to catch my ear. I take that back. My curiosity is getting the better of me.

  • Dude.. the guitarist is also the drummer on this album!!! HOLY POO FACE SHIT CUNT!

  • @TheFe3 yeah your right, the guitarist full went to drum school and shiz. took them over 3 years to write this album. Then they got an air drummer with click tracks to play live. i thought this was cool coz thats how i learnt drums before i could afford my own kit

  • NICE!!!!!

  • @tjbay1376 shut up

  • para mi dulcesita

  • @playmobvil Q bonitoo bonito :D

  • one of my favourite drummers out there

  • Awesome!!!! Best band ever!!!

  • The big difference between Karnivool and Tool is that Tool does way more drugs than Karnivool

  • @lbeth24 Not really, because Maynard Keenan of Tool has always been against the use of drugs. His lyrics are unique. Seems like no one can understand that unique lyrics aren't always the lovechild of a man and drugs. I don't even find Karnvool sounds like Tool very much. This one song being an exception.

  • @MommaMartyr ok i didn't know that, but then why does Tool have a song named 'Pot'

  • @lbeth24 If you read the lyrics and analyzed it, it has nothing to do with drugs. It's about unjustified hanging of innocently accused people and the irrationality of government. "Kangaroo gone hung the guilty with the innocent."

  • @lbeth24 the song is the pot and i think it is a reference to a pot you cook in, put all of the ingredients in. the song is about "the pot" we are all in as humans...

  • @32tomrob What about at the start of "Third Eye"

  • @32tomrob incorrect, but thanks for trying.

  • this song doesnt sounds like a tool kind of creature.

and for sure tool' much more tallented musicans.

    Keanen Youre ROX! :D

    Btw - I LOVE Karnivool

thanks god you guys were born.

  • Lol @ everyone trying to pin down the "top progressive bands", no matter who you list youre not gonna please everybody

  • I regret not listening to these guys years ago, they're fucking great. They were even at a Big Day Out I was at and I never saw them! Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • Check us out! New song and live videos up! Influences from Tool, Alter Bridge, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, H.I.M, etc...

  • Periphery is no comparison to Karnivool anyway? 'Nuff said.

  • is karnivool from perth?

  • @aussiekiller99 yes they are a perth band

  • Comment removed

  • The Progressif Familie :P

    Periphery , Animals as leaders , Karnivool , tool , TesseracT <3 <3

  • @SelixStudio give this fucker some thumbs up people...it makes sense

  • @SelixStudio plus Sikth and Protest the Hero and meshuggah

  • @SelixStudio add between the buried and me, cynic, the human abstract, protest the hero, porcupine tree and the contortionist

  • @SelixStudio What? No Opeth?

  • @SelixStudio check Textures >> watch?v=zfykD8Mu7as hope you'll enjoy if you dont already know them ... ;] (the drummer is a beast as you can see ...)

  • @SelixStudio and porcupine tree, cant leave them out

  • @flufffypuff And don't forget Dream Theater!

  • @SelixStudio Dont forget porcupine tree and opeth!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Continuing...

It's amazing, this music stirs people's feelings

is deep, has a magical atmosphere, it makes me rethink the way we live we see some problems in our lives and how face some complicated situations.

  • @Cestariarts you're so damn right !

  • The drums is perfect, every beat has a meaning and context of the exact time in music. The bass that makes things really be interesting, heavy, melodies that come inside mind. Guitars with great effects, destructive riffs, simple combinations of chords with a strong feeling. Keyboard is not as visible but they give you the magic atmosphere with the bass. The voice is extraordinary, deep, the guy sings with much feeling, with his soul, as if his heart was singing, amazing!. continue...

  • @tjbay1376 i love this song and mesha mansoor =D

  • To me, this is the greatest song written of all time.

  • Is it Ian's voice..? Is it Goddard's unbelievable guitar..? Is it McKenzie's drumming..?? Is it the lyrics..?? I don't know.. All I know is that this exact song is the first one in my 25 most played list... And when I say first I, mean waaaay first..

    Greetings from Greece...

  • @tjbay1376 question, I keep seeing this band linked to Bulb, what's the history there? They work together or something?

  • Comment removed

  • @KiloHoplite Bulb quite often mentions them as a big influence on his music when he's interviewed.... That could be all it is

  • What a drummer. Insanley good

  • @MrFuck2012 Heheh, people often forget that Karnivool are actually made up of TWO drummers.

Themata was completely drummed by their lead guitarist Drew Goddard whereas Sound Awake was drummed entirely by their newer drummer Steve Judd, they're an extremely talented band.

  • thumbs up if Bulb brought you here?

  • this band is like mixing Tool with Porcupine Tree! So amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • aussies. we have had some of the best bands over the years...including karnivool :)

  • @CurlyDrummerBoy18 also some of the worst. haha

  • @CurlyDrummerBoy18 AND PARKWAY UHG YEAH!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw Karnivool open for Porcupine Tree in SF..best concert i've ever been too!.

  • Co za asy

  • @tjbay1376 really!! i mean opinions and all but i think you should keep listening to this one

  • I love Karnivool so much! There's another aussie band I love though, and although their incredibly unpopular (which is sad) their called the Morning After Girls and I love their song Alone. This isn't spam, ha ha, just loving worldwide talents...

  • FACEBOOK/CyRENiC

    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

  • So, glad I found about this band!

    and all thanks to Bulb.

  • @theallmightyham yeah same haha, sounds a bit like breeze

  • @theallmightyham periphery can do no wrong!

  • 3:48 ... ...

  • Also, credit where credit is due, Ian Kenny is a great singer, especially for this genre. There are too many generic poppy new-metal singers these days. ex: Periphery

  • @mikeydp416 Periphery is FAR from poppy "new metal." Try something more like Disturbed, Mudvayne, or Five Finger Death Punch. Not really a huge Periphery fan, but I sense talent and genius in that band, as I do for Karnivool. The only genius I see in the afore-mentioned "new metal" bands is as it relates to business and marketing.

  • @MrUnderexcellent Look, not to start an argument, but where have you been? The poppy new metal I'm referring to is, for example; Devil Wears Prada, Blessthefall, Of Mice and Men, Escape The Fate, etc. And periphery has undeniable similarities. They are talented, that much is clear, but the thing is, they are studio musicians. They have all the time they need to sit down and record track, after track, after track until they have the final product that sounds so perfected. Racecar for instance.

  • @MarioLuigiMyzererer I completely agree with you on those acts although they are more of a "hardcore/metalcore" bent. The second half of your first response also applies to Disturbed, Mudvayne, and the like. Both bands love catchy, upbeat rhythms, and vague, unimaginative lyrics. Uniqueness and style is an afterthought (unlike Karnivool and Periphery, which may be catchy, but are also artistic). That is but only one facet to the "poppiness" of those acts.

  • @MrUnderexcellent Checked out Rishloo? Try River of Glass, Disco Bisquit, Diamond Eyes, Weevil Bride, Katsushika, etc. Progressive psychedelic metal genre. Singer is rediculous.

  • @TheHimalayanGorilla Great suggestion! I totally agree on the voice. Unique and interesting. I feel that Fair to Midland deserves a mention too in that genre.

  • @MrUnderexcellent besides, Disturbed and Mudvayne? Haha, explain how there is one ounce of pop in either . . .

  • As a musician, I can understand why people may look at Karnivool too technically and negatively compare them to bands that may be MADE of more talented musicians. Though I have to say, not many bands can create a vibe and balance as well as Karnivool. Thier sound is driving, sincere, and profound. Not to mention Unique.

Some of my personal favorites: Incubus #1, Avenged Sevenfold #2 (though not a huge fan of the lead vocals), Karnivool #3, Tool, System of a Down, Old Disturbed, and many others.

  • this Band is one of the most inspiring these days. A big thank you from the Band SubsoiL in Germany!!!

  • i can't believe i just found this band

  • breeze by bulb is better. lol. let the defensive karnivool comments come at me!

  • @fireboy1510 I'll take Bulb any day of the week too. But love this song. You can't even compare Bulb to this though.

  • @fireboy1510 Bulb(If you're referring to Misha Mansoor) is a better talent...but the guys in Periphery are big Karnivool fans so...(in fac tthere's a live Karnivool vid or 2 taken by Jake Bowen)

  • This song is so great, really beautiful. It's a shame the rest of the album is garbage.

  • perth ftw

  • Bulb did'nt steal the song. The structure of the two songs are entirely different. Just because they used the same chords does'nt mean its the same song.

  • This song is still their best work in my opinion! Gets me every time!

  • I personally don't believe Bulb can touch this.

    Not even remotely close...

  • @Betacra I think he's a better musician by far.

  • @Betacra You really can't compare the two. Not exactly the same writing style. Breeze is more of a technical progressive "core" kind of song and this is more like a hard rock thing. totally different.

  • actually, bulb did not steal the song. He just made a better one with similar chord progression. I enjoy both song. Yes, they are similar but it is not stolen.

As far as I know , if with you guys logic, a lot of music that we listen today would be a "rip off" of another song with similar elements.

  • WTF srsly my life started today! >:O

  • I heard this song 15 times today

  • it doesnt matter who made it first, both are great, bulb has even said that Karnivool is one of his influences. its just two great musical entities exploring the same chord progression.

  • @xrayfm You worded that perfectly!

  • GOOD ol AUSSIE'S!!!!!

  • really like this band. reminds me sort of others, but is totally their own beautifal beast

  • lol this is so bulbs song(check release dates bulb made breeze 1st) lame rip off band with a worse singer

  • @Slofenwag0n Lol, that's how I found this song. People were arguing in the comments about Bulb ripping off this song. I like both.

  • This is not really a feel good song. Its more about feeling good being single, and not need someone to love you to make you feel important. Center of the Earth is a song about a woman who Ian loves, but the love s not reciprocated.

  • @holdensv1 No doubt! I love their music, and personally I think it beats Tool any day.

  • This deserves a few million views!

  • Lovin this song exept i dont like the singer

  • It's been a lot of years since I have heard a song this great!

  • Yeah, not gonna lie, sounds a hell of a lot like Tool. Obviously it isn't, but there are some serious parallels.

  • @hydro4life123 Yeah, there are bits and pieces from a few bands, but still manage to make their own sound. Love it.

  • @hydro4life123 well i think it sounds like bulb and song called breeze. no joke check it out its the same thing lol

  • why does this sound so much like that song breeze from bulb??

    ;O

  • I swear to god, the next comment I read on a Karnivool song about Tool. Shit will go down. I am listening to Karnivool right now for a fucking reason. shut the fuck up.

  • tool is a different type of music though, they are more of a prog rock darker feel too them

  • Sounds like a much better version of Tool.

  • @seiferganon

dont get me wrong this song is good, but Misha Mansoor's song "Breeze"(under his solo name 'BULB') is almost identical to this. The only differences are changed drums and no triplets in the guitar, and, of course, vocals on this song. Who came out with what first, I don't care, and I don't want to waste my time looking and arguing.

But leave Tool out of it man, they sound nothing like Karnivool or Bulb.

  • @mensendike This came first.

  • @john437

    she said that! :P

  • @seiferganon tool is way more progressive

  • @xtermin8ter1 ...define "progressive."

  • @seiferganon theyre songs take awhile to build up

  • @xtermin8ter1 Not surprised you think that. Karnivool doesn't sound very progressive in this album. They pick up on it more in Sound Awake though. I still think they have a sound that stands alone and kicks ass. :)

  • these guys are amazing live! They will literally blow you away. No joke, they are incredible. They own my soul. I love karnivool!

  • this song just moves and moves.. effin masterpiece.. im so happy these guys sell out most rooms in australia.. real musicians dont get credit these days, as most of australia listens to shitty us auto tuned shit bucket songs.. karnivool are effin awesome!!!!!! :0)

  • In twenty years, I'm sure they'll be referred to among the best Australia has ever produced.

  • This song takes me places. So much emotion is packed into this album :) This is what my dream band would sound like :D

  • This song takes me places. So much emotion is packed into this album :) This is what my dream band would sound like :D

  • I don't think that this songs reminds too much about Bulbs Breeze, a few chords that are similair but it's two complete different songs with different feeling so why compare them? It's great songs and both artist shal keep them to themselves with no circumstances.

  • To everyone that thinks that some random band on YouTube rips off lyrics of a song or even an isolated sound, grow up. Really tired of this bullshit. "Dude, the lyrics on this song are the same ones from -insert name of band no one's ever heard of-", no one cares.

  • i saw this band live in poughkeepsie ny great band live

  • This song is absolutely amazing. One of my favorites of all-time. If you like this, check out Dead Letter Circus' "Here We Divide"

  • @MusikIsUniversal here we divide is amazing, beautiful mine by butterfly effect is also amazing

  • @thejoe8007

Not bad, I'll definitely be checking out some of their other stuff, thanks for the heads up =)

  • Certainly one of the best songs I've ever heard...

  • Very intense song. I get goosebumps every time I listen to it.

  • I love how the intro is the only thing that sounds somewhat similar, but everyone is complaining like this and Bulb's Breeze are exactly the same. Songs can remind you of other songs, its okay. Noone ripped anyone off.
