Okay so I bought my Vita last Sunday, and I got the 4GB for $20 in Best Buy just to start off with that one, nut I really got surprised that it didn't had Internal Memory! Like the PSP Go!? What the hell SONY!?? You guys just took a big step back! Im not paying $100 for 32GB! I can get a 1TB Hard Drive for my PS3 for about the same price! Ridiculous! I have a 32GB card and a 8GB card. It is kinda expensive. I suggest everyone just take the bullet and get the card that they want/need. Once you have you'll feel better. Sony needs to focus on getting iOS apps like Kindom Rush & Riptide GP. I bought Plants vs Zombies becuase I have it on every device, but 14.99 is ridiculous when steam had it for 2.99USD. The prices on PSN is ridiculous. Especially the digital retail versions. I'd rather buy the box version for resale than to save 4.99USD. silly

the worst part is that sony released that ps3 mlb game commercial making every1 think that u can just pause your game in the middle of play, from your ps3, then turn on your vita, press start, and continue your game on the vita....they want you to BUY the mlb version of vita just for a simple bullshit feature that the crappy wii u can do without making you spend more on yet another of the same game you already own

If you were to account for everything you can and will probably buy for the Vita, like game Cradle, the games themselves $40.00 each on average, memory cards which you'll lose cause they are smaller than your thumb nail in size. Will run you bare bones basic $600.00 and with a handful of games(10), memory cards (3 *you'll lose these often due to size), and various devices for it will run you just over $1,100.00
The Vita is going to fail horribly. It's not doing well in Japan.
The 3DS is nothing in front of the PS Vita when it comes to power, graphics and screen resolution. It also has two original analog sticks built into the handheld so 3DS actually is pretty bad. Can the 3DS play games like Uncharted like the PS Vita can? No it can't because it's shit!!!!
The worst part of all is that, as many of us know each memory card will be tied to only one PSN account, this won't bother people from america or Britain, but from where I come from, the PS store isn't available, I have an account that states I'm in Britain, but i still use my original to play games and collect trophies. This matters when now can't even download DLC on my Vita and play it on my normal account :(

Nintendo and Sony switch place's. Back in the N64 and Gamecube days Nintendo went with expensive custom built technology and drives and while Sony and Microsoft more cheaper but standardrized technology but now Nintendo is now using cheaper standarized technology like SD Cards and same carts as original DS as prices for them came down and can now hold DVD like memory for cheap while Sony now uses new expensive custom memory cards and Game cartridges that are expensive for the first few years.

It's not a matter of Sony being unreasonable, it's a matter of cost of production. Considering that his is new the cost of production will be sky-high, hence the price of these things will unfortunately be way too high, too. Hell, I bet Sony still loses money on these.

sony is having a vita exclusive memory card format because they dont want the vita to go the same path as the psp where it had alot of hackers devising a way to load custom firmware, circumvent security protections, and play pirated games on PSPs. heck i remember back in 2007 a friend of mine modded his psp and had downloaded game boy advance games like pokemon ruby on his psp. even though they where pirated games, it was still really cool though

you do realise that games on the vita is about 40dolars and on the digital store its discounted from 20 to 40 percent so if buy you 10games without the discount and a cheaply priced memory card its actually more expensive but if you buy 10 cheap games and an overpriced memory card then its actually a great deal so if you would actually prefered over priced games over expensive memory cards then your math obviously sucks anyway digital FTW no more packaging or season pas shit just a game.

They can claim the battle against piracy, but the price of the memory card sounds like price-gouging.
This guy knows nothing. Memory cards and all data storage formats have different 'grades', or how good the hardware is. USB / HDDs have write speeds which help stream data to the console. Camera memory cards have grades at which they can save photos and how fast they can process them. Shooting in HD 1080p video requires a more expensive card than a snapshot from a cellphone.
It is the same issue with these memory cards. They are expensive because they are constantly high quality data.

Yeah im doing the same with the 3DS. I mean seriously they could have included an extra circle pad easily but they didn't. So Nintendo releases a circle pad accessory for 20€. Its a scam that they charge you for something that should come standard. So im going to wait for the redesign which will probably contain the extra circle pad.

@BanjoThreeies exactly, it was a pain for me having only one UMD at a time when i had a psp, but when i got it hacked and with an 8gb card, it solved the problem and i was able to play multiple games at a time without changing UMDS

To be honest with you, I prefer the slim PSP best of all. It has clear visuals and the most classic games you can buy and also, it's cheap and you can buy a preowned memory card (2g) for £7 and the memory on the games aren't the size of an elephant!
Dude compare memory cartridges to SIMILAR SIZED cartridges and not hard drives. It should be compared to micro sd cards. It typically cost 1 to 2 dollars per gig unless your talking about the super high speed ones. (Yes I think the memory cards are overpriced too).

Sony is already gonna consider lowering the price of the vita due to bad sales in japan. Units went from 325,000 units to 75,000 units in just the second week. They already are considering lowering the price of the vita in japan from 24,000 yen to 20,000 yen

Nintendo and Sony switch place's. Back in the N64 and Gamecube days Nintendo went with expensive custom built technology and drives and while Sony and Microsoft more cheaper but standardrized technology but now Nintendo is now using cheaper standarized technology like SD Cards and same carts as original DS as prices for them came down and can now hold DVD like memory for cheap while Sony now uses new expensive custom memory cards and Game cartridges that are expensive for the first few years.

Sony claimed that making a PSVita costs more than it's launch price at least by 20 bucks, i think they over priced the memories a little bit to make that up, but who knows. :l
I'm still getting the device anyway, I'm 100% sure the prices of the memories will drop after 1-2 months after it's US release.

It's not a matter of Sony being unreasonable, it's a matter of cost of production. Considering that his is new the cost of production will be sky-high, hence the price of these things will unfortunately be way too high, too. Hell, I bet Sony still loses money on these.
Eventually they'll probably get cheaper, so it'll be best to wait a year or two before actually getting a Vita.

Looking at the bright side, some 3rd party made lots of adapters to PSP, i use sandisk micro sd for my PSP via an adapter.
I'm 100% people will release adapters for the Vita.

sony is having a vita exclusive memory card format because they dont want the vita to go the same path as the psp where it had alot of hackers devising a way to load custom firmware, circumvent security protections, and play pirated games on PSPs. heck i remember back in 2007 a friend of mine modded his psp and had downloaded game boy advance games like pokemon ruby on his psp. even though they where pirated games, it was still really cool though

you do realise that games on the vita is about 40dolars and on the digital store its discounted from 20 to 40 percent so if buy you 10games without the discount and a cheaply priced memory card its actually more expensive but if you buy 10 cheap games and an overpriced memory card then its actually a great deal so if you would actually prefered over priced games over expensive memory cards then your math obviously sucks anyway digital FTW no more packaging or season pas shit just a game.

While Damon should not have compared the flash memory prices to HD storage prices, the overall message is correct. I have already cancelled my Vita Pre-order due to the memory card pricing. I'm surprised Sony never learns that people don't like proprietary technology when it costs far more than the competition. They can claim the battle against piracy, but the price of the memory card sounds like price-gouging.

This guy knows nothing. Memory cards and all data storage formats have different 'grades', or how good the hardware is. USB / HDDs have write speeds which help stream data to the console. Camera memory cards have grades at which they can save photos and how fast they can process them. Shooting in HD 1080p video requires a more expensive card than a snapshot from a cellphone.
It is the same issue with these memory cards. They are expensive because they are constantly high quality data.

Yeah im doing the same with the 3DS. I mean seriously they could have included an extra circle pad easily but they didn't. So Nintendo releases a circle pad accessory for 20€. Its a scam that they charge you for something that should come standard. So im going to wait for the redesign which will probably contain the extra circle pad.

Dude compare memory cartridges to SIMILAR SIZED cartridges and not hard drives. It should be compared to micro sd cards. It typically cost 1 to 2 dollars per gig unless your talking about the super high speed ones. (Yes I think the memory cards are overpriced too).

Sony fans need to stop defending a company that has been hell bent of obtaining as many profit margins as possible for many years now. I'm all for Sony selling a product to make money. But people, this isn't PS3 circa 2006. This is 2012 almost, and a freakin handheld.
