I don't get it. If the Cro-Magnons evolved from Africa. Why do they have light skin and all around different bone structure and brain size from Sub-Saharan Africans?

The Neanderthal species evolved in ice age Europe, an adaptation to the cold conditions. So they both originated in Africa, just that one group of people migrated to Europe much sooner and evolved into a different human branch, Neanderthal.

consider modern humans - how many people actually ever innovate in their lives? its a fraction. Neanderthal lived very isolated lives compared to the cro magnon coming from a warmer and more productive climate - this is a potential reason why they didn't develop. The other explanation is that they were successful enough as is, until severe climate change and competitors came and put them at a disadvantage. All the evidence is that they were probably cognitively just as developed as CM.

@Ozzrya91 --not one 'race' invented the things you listed. many races worked within the companies that invented those things. and even then, you cant possibly assume they were 'pure white' since race is superficial as it is. how do you know some of the men on the computer team weren't part native for example? also, theories and such are evolved from early theories from early theories. as you can tell by this episode. boasting a short 1,000 year period is premature.

Yes, of course they do, just like many so annoyingly use the acceptable but nonetheless ridiculous "neandertal' pronunciation for no conceivable reason other than to sound educated. Really, to me it just sounds pretentious, awkward...and stupid.

@zoolassie yeah, I actually like "cro-manyon" a lot more than "neandertal." In fact, first time I read cro-magnon, my inclination was to pronounce it cro-manyon. "Neandertal" is still awkward and pretentious, regardless of etymology. imho.

There is a mistake in the first 30 seconds. Neanderthals stood with a straight spine and were taller than 'cro magnon'.

@moniker127 They were assumed to be smarter because of the evidence they left behind, it has nothing to do with their brains. Cro magnon brains actually had more surface area than neanderthals anyway. Cromags had better tools, art/jewlery, trading etc. etc.
