@thatBirdiegirl Sorry that I misread what you said I didn't read all the comments only briefly yours. And I understand what you mean that it was jewish people and not judaism, I am only young so please forgive me :(
I think is a human labor to make sure this never happens again. We should teach our sons to respect each other and their cultures, not to be a red neck white supremacist...
there was another intervier with a girl who said his father had the iron cross and his original ww1 uniform, when the nazis came,he was dressed as a soldier with his 2 medals, then the nazis aproached quickly in front of him, they split on his face, they burnt his uniform and medals,he was taken to a concentration camp but was dismissed because he could pay the fine the nazis put,i dont know why here they dont mention the fine the jews should pay to be released
you didnt do your history homework 30 years ago right?most of the nazi leaders were poor before they reached the power and lived near jewish towns in germany and aurstria watching them earning money, then after ww1 more jews from poland arrived to germany and aurstria without the economical problems the ww1 caused to these countries, some jews called germans"them"even having spent decades there and they called themselves"us"in 1938 von rath was killed by a young jewish and thats how it started
I don't understand how neighbors could do this to each other. We must understand the pain of people such as this lady. It is hopeful that such things will never happen again.
Lisa. I was speaking in general about neighbours. I don't think of this as specific to Germany. It can happen anywhere, and does. I think it is even worse now as people are more hard nosed and apathetic than ever. I am absolutely sure that a few German thugs were invloved, and a few decent Germans tried to help he Jews. The majority of people were just apathetic - cowards and opportunists - just like people are now, even in the United States.
I agree with you in all except the last sentence. Anti-semitism was always a problem, but the majority of the people were not apathetic in Germany. You have to understand that in the last free election, the nazis only won 38.4% of the vote. When Hitler took office in 1933, Dachau was opened-not for the Jews-but for political opponents, aka anyone who spoke out. An atmosphere of extreme fear was created right from the very beginning. If you wanted to resist, you would end up in Dachau yourself.
Lisa. Thank you. You are absolutely correct of course. I take back what I said in the last sentence. We can all keep on learning, and that includes me. :)
u were lucky that the nazis didnt catch u inside a synagogue during the pogrom, many synagogues with jews full during a serice were raided by nazis and they burnt the synagogue with all the jews inside during this pogrom in germany kristallnacht.

@thatBirdiegirl but judiam is a religion not a race :S
lovegameme1 1 year ago
@lovegameme1 Actually not...
It's so much more than that!
BIG part of the Jews are declared atheists.
It's culture, politic and race much more than religion.
Religion is only cohesive element that keeps all that together.

Genocide in Palestine by the Jews
tommee100 2 years ago
@tommee100 what does this have to do with the holocaust?
rockynanach 1 year ago
I think the nazis just blamed jewish people for their problems and I think they hated the jewish religion because the were all evil occultists.

But genocide is happening right now, i.e. in Dafur. It never stopped (sadam Hussain, cambodia, rawanda).

that was a rumor, they burnt the buildings, but the people could come out
it wasnt like the holocaust in the 40s,the official number of jews killed were around 100 because of the soldiers who beat them

I could never imagine going through what these innocent people went through. They survived the war and went on to tell there stories of courage.
