It's from the monitor board. The crowd is cut. When you hear live versions of stuff released by the band, they set mics up to record the crowd. They cut the crowd in the monitor boards.

It's a soundboard recording. Since I doubt they were filming a live album, the crowd is not gonna have mics recording em. Also, Metallica are probably using high end microphones so the primary source is all thats really gonna come through. Metallica sux ass btw. Mustaine = God!!!

It sounds like when they mixed the final recording they purposely drowned out the crowd, which bands sometimes do. Why, I don't know. It's always nice to hear a good crowd on a recording.

Agreed 100%. You couldn't have said it better. After a year of him being in the band they should have at least toned it down a little bit, but as time went on, they got worse and worse. I don't blame Newsted one bit for quitting. He's a great guy.

Rob is a talented bassist. That's about it. I personally want Newsted back, but Rob is fine with me. I like the way he works around the notes of the music; if you listen to him play Master of Puppets, he really hops around the song. Like him, but prefer Newsted overall.
