I was astonished about the soprano too. I play the french horn in a youth orchestra, well, ok, the french horn can be loud, although it sounds much smoother when played soft and piano, but our soprano wouldn't stand a chance even against one single trumpet, whereas this one would make the trumpet seem silent...
btw, the part where the trumpets and horns are playing alone was kind of a mess at the end with some rythm problems... but it was better than my orchestra's version for sure ;D
Russians have some of the best Choirs around. I don't think it does the music any injustice by being performed by these people in this country...
Most composers compose music to reach different people on a different level. Im sure for music to be appreciated this wide spread would have fulfilled the ambition.
RADAMES! You know how to pick your nick names you VERDI music lover you! Thank you for this great performance. The VANDELLI one is quite good too and the Russians are highly committed artists. The respect Verdi shows Leopardi (for whose passing the piece was written) is most touching, moving, and impressive! THANK YOU Radames!
I dont know what his critique is pointing to, but he probably means it's not authentic, Russia is not the best at playing Verdi.. But Honestly, i think this is THE best perfomance I've heard in a long time of Dies Irae, I listen to this a thousand times, and it gets stronger and more powerful
do you happent o like the vandelli's version?? its in the right part with all the other performance's, please let me know... I just love the timpani in that one... this one is awesome... some moments a little rushed missing some little stomps I would guess I dunno for example 1:09 the transition, I like it stronger more aggresive...
hmm this is great, we want to make that song to our album intro, but we have to pimp it a little bit up. i will turn it into symphonic metal. it will be great, i know that. our band is called Nemesis, maybe you will hear about us in a few years :) (i hope so!)

なんか標準的(こうあるべき、で、めちゃくちゃ感動するわけではないが良く。わるくない)な演奏に聴こえるのは何故だろう。

All the teachers are talking about "open thruat" and "support", but very few can really teach how to do that... :)

Merveilleux ! J'ai écouté ce Requiem samedi dernier à Genève mais ce n'était pas aussi grandiose !

BEST PERFORMANCE of this that I've heard on YouTube!!!!

I believe his name spells Gintaras Rinckevicius. Rinkjavichus would be only a phonetic rendering of the Lithuanian pronounciation ;)

I think It's not about "where" any more.
It's about the orchestra and the conductor...
And as you know i guess, Russia is famous by 1-st class choirs....
:)

So did Trans-Siberian Orchestra, sort of :) Not in their average metal way, but it was pretty cool nonetheless.
But hey, I'm always up for a good rendition of classic music! I hope you do it, I'm sure it would be pretty sweet ;)
