And the fact that Riki goes back to him of his will; it was the last and ultimate revelation of their love. It made me cry, but at the same time I thought it was beautiful.

Unfortunately, for those who don't know....the project - the new Ai no Kusabi project - was dropped, and all plans to further it were halted. I don't exactly know the reason why, it wasn't really an issue of money, so much as it was...they wanted to make newer anime and didn't want to bother with the remake so the company making the thing had to stop. Kinda sad :( I was really looking forward to it.

I was Iason one year a long time ago for a local anime convention and I could totally pull it off... especially the hair cause it was perfect. Now with his "new" design, his bangs (or banes.. whatever) look crappy. In the original he was all classy looking and now he looks like he walked through rain. But I guess its all good cause my bangs look like that now. :P I can guess once you see it, you can never escape it. Ai no Kusabi was and still is one of my all time favorite animes ever!! <3

To be honest (and I hope not to offend anyone here), I find the animation of this reenactment to be a bit...lacking. One of the reasons I loves the original Ai no Kusabi is because of its unique (albeit older), softer quality of animation. Here, some of the bodily lines seem to stand out almost unnaturally (in the spirit of modern animation), which, in my opinion, makes the characters loose that age-based maturity that they had in the previous anime.

Still I will give it a shot. ^_^
