  • Terima kasih! Saya saku. Saya belajar Malay.

  • dude whats up i have a malaysian friend who is teaching me ,,,and he dosent talk like that ,,like i mean the way you pronounce as if your not malay ,'like an american' ...but thanks for trying

  • in standard malay KH is NOT k and R is thrilled, besides that it's pronounced "apeu" and not "apa"

  • am foreign student in malaysia and i want to find a job ... but they need a person who speaks Malayu LOL

    thanx that was very helpful

keep it up and keep uploading plz XD

  • nice video... make more video like this... very helpfulllll!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT TO LEARN MORE .. terima kasih

  • Since theres not much vids on teaching Malay, and you r doing a great job. Please excuse his accent though.. everyone has a certain accent rite?

  • dude you have to "keraskan" a bit on the rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr haha

  • Tagalog (Filipino) and Malay language have a lot in common. Especially in colors, like for black: itim = hitam, white: puti = putih, anak = anak, sinta = cinta, there's so many to mention actually.

  • ape kebar??ayoo..cakap la macam melayu betul..selamach pagi??adoi..selamat tengah hari is more like good afternoon and selamat petang more like good evening..

  • pergh..mercik kot..hebat2..teruskan..

  • I think you shouldnt say it with an accent . We dont say apa khabaRRRR. you know wat i mean? Sorry, this is wat I personally think.

  • good morning = selamat pagi

    good afternoon = selamat tengahari

    good evening = selamat petang

    good night = selamat malam

  • I am going to Malaysia next week and this is helping BIG TIME. Malay sounds lovely! I know this cat a drink :-)

  • you have an englisch accent :S

  • @R3dSt4r90 That's not an English accent :P

  • @kirstylou142

but it sounds like an english speaking person trying to speak malay xD

  • apa khabar is malay? i think it's indonesian. in malay, "how are you" should be "apa macam".

  • @july071992 hey there, "how are you?' is not "apa macam".

"apa macam" means "so how?" or sometimes used to replace " what are we up to next?'

Malay is my first language.. I don't say how are you as "apa macam".

why do you say apa macam?

  • @haniyatid oh. sorry i thought it was apa macam. malay is not my first language so sorry for my mistake. thanks for correcting though.

  • I also love learning languages and about other cultures, this really helped thank you, you're great teacher and really clear thank you :D

  • great video!!

  • this is actually how an American/British man would try to speak the language. but at least someone uploaded the video to teach Malay to the world, one of the easiest language to learn minus the vocabs (told by foreigners living in Malaysia)

  • let me make correction 4 u

    Selamat Tengahari=Good Afternoon

    Selamat Petang=Good Evening

    Selamat Malam=Good Night

  • hey =)

    thank you so much!

Ill fly to Kuala Lumpur this Friday for like 4 Weeks!

And i thought about learning a bit Malay ;-)

  • encik twinswordsoffire..awak org malaysia ke?

  • no need to say 'selamat tinggal' just say bye ~~ all the malay ppl understand that ! :P

btw , im proud to be malaysian :)

  • APA KHABAR

    WHAT IS SURAT KHABAR?

  • @kannurkarran LOL...! newspaper...

  • yes malay is the easiest language to learn...you have a strong accent ^^

  • nice video. i've forwarded it to an american friend of mine who is learning malay.

  • Cool......you're speaking my language! =))

  • bukan (apuh kuhbar)

    it's like(apaah kaabaar)

    sometin

  • Malay is such a wonderful lingo

  • American accent boy!

  • he is American. :-/

  • asl muka die x ley bla?? mintak pelempang aku dowh

  • Apew Khebar. == ini umno punya bahasa ka apa. Gunalah Bahasa Baku. bukan bahasa K.L haiz. remove these video or recreate a new one.

  • that's not how to pronounce it properly

    because i am from malaysia

  • hey are u malay?

  • AWESOME!

    Thx for vid! Really helpful.

  • twinswordoffire, are you still living in Malaysia? lol cos you dont sound malaysian...

  • Whoa bro you move around a lot xD But this is great, jazakallah :)

  • sebenarnya bahasa melayu lagi susah daripada bahasa lain.ini kerana satu ayat membawa banyak maksud..

  • cube ckp korean...

    a nyoung haseyo....haha..

    phm x?

  • ooops, you bring along your English accent to the malay words. =( but i congrats you for having the courage to try

  • prnounciation is reallllllllly off. =/ but good try atleast.

  • oklah tu...

kitapun orang melayu ada juga sebut salah... nama pun belajar....

  • we say SALAMAT in the Philippines. Meaning Thank you!

  • i think tengahari means afternoon...and petang is evening...but yeah in english good evening is like good night but in malay, evening is petang and night is malam...so selamat petang (good evening) and selamat malam (good night)

  • bapaklu tuh pagi

  • well his pronunciation is totally wrong on apa khabar...the R is rhotic which eventually malaysian pronounce it non-rhotic....fix ur pronunciation before u try to teach anyone...well on good side he is good try to share it to everyone...nice try

  • as for good evening at night time was said as a gesture..it wouldn't looked decent if u walk in a restaurant and a waiter saying instead of "good evening miss" , said "Good night miss?"??

Nice try la...but i would DEFINITELY would loke you to do some homework first before teaching this kind of stuffs ^_^...

I really DO hope you're not a Malay speaking person though...coz it would definitely be awkward for a person to be bad in his own language ^_^...

    Try again though ^_^

  • Its apa Khabar...the main is the KH..in Khabar..

the way you're saying it was apa kebar...and you're teaching them wrongly...

    Selamat Tengahari is Good Afternoon..

Good day is more or less like saying HI to someone...

    Selamat Petang is GOOD evening...

    Just like stated by MontelMon85

You are definitely giving them some wrong information mate..

  • apa khabar la.... bukan apa kebar.... hehehe... tapi kira okay la tu...

  • Nice try though. Keep up the good work.

  • i think there hve a lil bit mistake on ur language

    selamat tengahari means good afternoon

    selamat petang means good evening

and selamat malam means good night

selamat petang and selamat malam is two different things.

  • Yup that is true.... Malay does not distinguish the word Good Night and Good Evening... For us it depend on time of the day... We separate the time into for time which is morning (pagi), tengah hari (afternoon), petang (evening) and malam (night)... When the time is at night we would use the word night instead of evening.... so is the time is 10:30 pm the English would say Good Evening but for us we would use Selamat Malam as in English "Good Night".

  • your face like malay but your tongue!!!! what the meaning of "kassim selamat"?

  • haha...who is this guy? A malay or what? Malay face but English tongue? Weird. English not so English but...just LOL!

  • Please forgive me for what i had said, i'm a great LIAR with vengeful heart and huge ego!

  • malay language suits any types of music.malay language can do pop, rock, hip hop, dangdut, disco, ballads, jazz etc.just name it.n cartoon translation in malay r much cuter n hilarious than any language.just watch wonderpets, doraemon, sinchan, spongebob etc.malay language r universal.

  • Everytime I watch those cartoon all the voice remain same = =!

  • i agree on that..and the way malay seiyuu talks like robots..mendatar only...except shinchan voice actor's dulu la not now...huhuh

  • most of the cartoons have the same voices. but wonderpets are different. they dub with real kids,

unlike doraemon(but that was work done 15 years ago.)

  • memang senang sangat-sangat~

  • aww man....its kinda boring if malay language no popular...bbut since i saw u guys speakin our clanguage,im a bit better..terima kasih

  • malay is the simplest language in d world...

  • @dyayna

Because it basically copy from english.

    or technically 'direct-translate' from english.

    Just FYI.

  • malay... not a popular language huh

  • I notice that your pronunciation is not native Malay, especially with consonants like t, p, because you use the aspirated stops.

  • how do you say: '' i want two glasses of water''?

  • saya nak dua gelas air

  • im learning to speak maly. i married into a malay community. any tips 4 me?

  • maybe the best way is to find friends from Malaysia or Indonesia. cause both speak not much different. and welcome to malay community

  • tak berapa sama...percayalah

  • your a hero.

  • Thanks for the video! Great instructions!

  • theres a lot meanings for 'selamat' actually...

*to say u r safe/saved u r 'saved/survived' from the accident anda 'selamat' daripada kemalangan itu this food is 'safe' to eat makanan ini 'selamat' untuk dimakan

and there r more meanings actually which kinda complicated to explain n to understand...

  • yes. like saving,it can be simpanan or menyelamatkan...

  • yeah...not so clear...my name is kassim selamat...or kassim good/bless...

  • lol...kinda agree.. but Kassim Selamat is a name... same goes to George BUSH... u know wht bush is...;p

  • i know bush,it is george semak samun..or george bushuk...like p ramlee said bau ashem,ketiak siapa BUSHuk...la la la..hahaha joking,no hearts feeling eh...

  • LOL...no la...ok what..(malay accent of english kinda weird)

  • good effort on this video but your weird slang does not help. this maybe confusing for anyone who likes to learn malay. better have than never right?

  • i clould bearly hear you

  • the accent could be improved on, like the t's aren't as pronounced as in english, and the r's aren't supposed to be emphasized much, but overall good job!

  • Thanx for the video:) I'm trying to learn Malay on my own, but the pronounciation is hard 'cause I only have a book without any audio:/ I'm going there for a holiday so I really appreciate your effort^^

  • hey what's up, I'm Filipino and I would like to know what "balik" means.

we have the word "balik" in our dialects and to us it means "to return" or "to come back".

does it mean the same thing in Malay and Indonesian?

  • Yes! It means the same thing in Malay and Indonesian. "Balik" means "to return" or to "come back".

  • ok, thanks, appreciate man.

  • No problem. Anytime!

  • yeah balik mean the same to u

if we wan to go back like

    "i wan go back home"

    saya mahu balik rumah

  • Slang habis..but it's good for beginners.i would like to make a few corrections.'selamat jalan' and 'selamat tinggal' bring the same meaning, suitable for people who are leaving and kind of hard to meet again like live in diff country or something.while 'jumpa lagi' also for bidding farewell, in english see you again.but we don't really use selamat tinggal, ussually used is jumpa lagi, it's shows that we really keen to meet that person again,to shows our gratefullness

  • kitak apa citer?? slang sarawakian in malaysia..
