I am merely pointing out that like every different ethnicity, social group, stereotypical group and any such mass of people, Christianity has hypocrisy and extremist but then again, what group doesn't? THere is also love, tenderness and a good message which in the end allows for a better world in Christianity. People who are peaceful and lovely and thats who are true Christians.

@Lordes I wasn't saying it validated that God was real. What I merely pointed out through this, was a rebuttal to your argument that Christians are taught to basically let rape slide past. It shows that Christians are also among those people, who from the goodness of their heart and filled with love and compassion show it to people. The bible also talks of such acts and tells to practice them. And I too have a compassionate view on life and people.
@Lordes Or what about, the Christian teens who walk around from house to house, asking people if they want to donate anything they may be throwing away to help people in need. Or those who go to places like India, just to run a shelter and offer comfort to people in need. I'm showing you that while you may have expereinced a side of Christianity, my views on life and people are compassionate.
@Lordes What about the Christian people who go to underprivileged countries, so to help them and educate them so they don't have to go into prostitution to feed their families. They put aside their materiastic wants to save up purely to fly to these countries and volunteer to be there for them. And before you say its made up, let me tell you that I personally know of these people. My 15 year old friend has flown to an underpriviledged country to help the people.

Obviously this is not relative to modern times. If you had ANY sense, you would see that it is in relevance to olden days. The punishment then was quite fitting, as the woman would have a 'social life' which in those days was considered a higher priority than anything else. People wouldnt look down on her ,is what I mean, for being single.

Now, the definition of unfathomable is incomprehensible. So it is something we cannot get our head around. well I live in very small town of about 6,000 people and I've accepted Jesus 16 years ago when missionaries from Norway came to my country. I've never been asked for money and people who have come by have always helped the poor. Maybe you have bad experience with Hillsong or another church, and yes.. I've seen misuse in bigger churches or with some people who (falsely) represent God, but my point was that worship and praise is good, and children should be taught to believe IN GOD not in people!

To those reading my comments, I will tell you that God has richly blessed me with His agenda. I began volunteering at a hospice in Oct 2004, accepted Christ in April 2005, accepted His call to teach Sunday school (grades 1 thru 5) in August 2005 and began volunteering my Thursday's at a large Christian food pantry in November 2006. I love being His "hands and feet"! I love to be there for others! I hope you all find Christ! It's easier for some than it is for others to find Him...
I was listening to heavy metal and rock and roll in the 1970's and absolutely "hated" Christian Hymns. I've loved those old Christian hymns since the day I gave my life to Christ on April 13, 2005. They give me some peace in a crazy, selfish, violent world!
I was also "dragged", fighting and screaming, to church 3 times a week until I was age 19. But I thanked God for this early childhood teaching about Christ when He began to woo me back into His arms for good at age 46.
I rejected all things "Christian" and lived life by "my rules" until I was 47 years old. MONEY was my "security". The more I had, the less worried I was. Now, I have very little money, but do NOT worry, because "Christ" is my "security"! Now I use much of what He has given me to help others, by donating His funds and my time to various Christian causes. I feel very sorry for those who can not find Christ. But it was very difficult for me to find Christ too! It was a LONG struggle....

I pray for hearts like yours open and ready to work in his kingdom. Christ is the ONLY way out of the selfish, self-centered, GREEDY, money chasing (powerball, money is "security") life and into His agenda for our lives, which is to be there for others, people, kindness, gentleness, caring, compassionate, loving way of life. Or those who go to places like India, just to run a shelter and offer comfort to people in need. @Lordes What about the Christian people who go to underprivileged countries, so to help them and educate them so they don't have to go into prostitution to feed their families. They put aside their materiastic wants to save up purely to fly to these countries and volunteer to be there for them. And before you say its made up, let me tell you that I personally know of these people. My 15 year old friend has flown to an underpriviledged country to help the people.

Obviously this is not relative to modern times. If you had ANY sense, you would see that it is in relevance to olden days. The punishment then was quite fitting, as the woman would have a 'social life' which in those days was considered a higher priority than anything else. People wouldnt look down on her ,is what I mean, for being single.

My 6 year-old son asked who God was. I said “God’s an imaginary guy, like Santa”. He asked “does God bring kids presents too?” I said “no, in fact God does some nasty things, like causing floods & making kids & puppies die”. My little boy exclaimed “then I don’t like God! Can we stop God from coming to OUR house?” I smiled & patted his head, & said “of course”. Just to ease his fear, I taught him how to say “I deny the existence of the Holy Spirit” every night at bedtime. He feels safe now.

well I live in very small town of about 6,000 people and I've accepted Jesus 16 years ago when missionaries from Norway came to my country. I've never been asked for money and people who have come by have always helped the poor. Maybe you have bad experience with Hillsong or another church, and yes.. I've seen misuse in bigger churches or with some people who (falsely) represent God, but my point was that worship and praise is good, and children should be taught to believe IN GOD not in people!

To those reading my comments, I will tell you that God has richly blessed me with His agenda. I began volunteering at a hospice in Oct 2004, accepted Christ in April 2005, accepted His call to teach Sunday school (grades 1 thru 5) in August 2005 and began volunteering my Thursday's at a large Christian food pantry in November 2006. I was listening to heavy metal and rock and roll in the 1970's and absolutely "hated" Christian Hymns. I've loved those old Christian hymns since the day I gave my life to Christ on April 13, 2005. They give me some peace in a crazy, selfish, violent world!

I was also "dragged", fighting and screaming, to church 3 times a week until I was age 19. But I thanked God for this early childhood teaching about Christ when He began to woo me back into His arms for good at age 46.

I rejected all things "Christian" and lived life by "my rules" until I was 47 years old. MONEY was my "security". The more I had, the less worried I was. Now, I have very little money, but do NOT worry, because "Christ" is my "security"! Now I use much of what He has given me to help others, by donating His funds and my time to various Christian causes. I feel very sorry for those who can not find Christ. But it was very difficult for me to find Christ too! It was a LONG struggle....

Shalom (Peace be with you), Brad. It's amazing that you managed to find Christ and I share the same feeling of yours for those not being able to find Christ. I pray for hearts like yours open and ready to work in his kingdom. No matter what age, cultural diversity and many others discouraging factors, I pray that God will use those same things to impact others and heal our land. Since God uses the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. God bless! Amen! (God's will be done).

Christ is the ONLY way out of the selfish, self-centered, GREEDY, money chasing (powerball, money is "security") life and into His agenda for our lives, which is to be there for others, people, kindness, gentleness, caring, compassionate, loving way of life. And don't forget "FORGIVENESS". Many non-Christians do not and will not forgive others for transgressions against them. Before I was a Christian, I was all about "MYSELF"! Now I am all about "Jesus Christ". And I thank God for that!

it is only pertaining to the controversial nature of religion that 'brainwashing' is highlighted. How about your kids' exposure to pornography, to violence, to vulgarities at tender ages? is that worse?
moreover, 'good' or 'bad' is a normative statement. We Christians believe in the sovereignty of God. i was brought up by my parents bringing me to church, and trust me, when i grew up, i was ABLE to arrive at a crossroads and make my choice. and man, am i GLAD God is in my life! God bless all =)

Besides, if i asked you to praise an idol, could you? even innocent, and ignorant as a child?
when i was young, and when i was praising God in my church, i could really feel, tangibly and intangibly, the spiritual intensity in the church. the sort that numbs your knees and brings tears to your eyes. as a child i could feel that, and it is in all those children that i see the same experience!
by the way, i'm 18. not much out of 'childhood' myself.
