Socialism didn't provide ANY useful jobs for India. The longer India remained Socialist, the more poverty it created. Wealthy people are wealthy because their family at some point sacrificed through blood, sweat and tears and made something of themselves and then made an easier road for their children to succeed. Poor people have to be willing to sacrifice and do the same to succeed. Wealthy families have already put that sacrifice in. Most poor arent willing to sacrifice and work hard and stay on track. Its not fair to expect the families that have put that sacrifice in to pay for those that have not.
It is pure chance whether one is born rich or not. Sometimes no matter how hard you work you just don't succeed, it's not like all poor people are just lazing about, they work full time just to feed their familys, some might make it up by beeing really lucky. Not all rich familys were once poor, some of them have inherited wealth from ages ago. And if paying a small part of your wage for those who were unfortunate and a few who, well, screwed up, is too much then I think that's pretty selfish.

Mortgage rates go up because they are set by the market. Financial companies go under because the government isn't there to bail them out. House prices fall to what people can truly afford without mortgaging their future away.

True, capitalism is unregulated economic activity and isn't in collusion with government to reduce competition. We have both working against capitalism in the US.. yet capitalism gets blamed for all of our problems. We have never had true capitalism.
well theoretically it does, because whenever you introduce regulation you hinder some aspect of capitalism. For example take the meat crisis in the early 20th century. Government regulated beef industries but at the benefit of larger meat companies because it allowed them to reduce competition. The smaller meat companies could not afford the regulatory costs.

Look at Hong Kong for the effects of capitalism. Constantly rising real wages, low unemployment, all in a country with 20x the population of India and no natural resources. Without capitalism they'd be screwed.

Socialism didn't provide ANY useful jobs for India. The longer India remained Socialist, the more poverty it created. They almost fell back into the Dark Ages before the British brought in Electricity, Railroads, and Property Rights. Before India became Socialist the Post was free. After Socialism it cost money to send, tax money to support, and the service declined. There is no limit to the prosperity of Capitalism because Capitalism doesn't concentrate any power in the hands of a Proletariat.

Today, all countries are overwhelmingly socialists. The most socialists countries are communists and fascists. Remember USSR means "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics" and Nazi means "National Socialist German Workers' Party". USA is a fascist country with its corporate regulations and bailouts.

If we had no welfare system the standard of living would increase for those that do work as they would not pay taxes to support those that do not work. What's wrong with having poor? Isn't that more motivation to succeed? Why should people that work hard and earn good money pay for those that screwed around in school and partied too hard or got their girl pregnant at 19? What about the unemployed? They'd get no help when they were fired. And people who earn more money don't necessarily work more. Most poor people arent poor because they screwed up, but because they were not born into a poor family, it's really hard to get out of there. Plus, with private schools (in the US) you have to have a certain level of wealth just to get into a decent college. All I'm saying is: Most poor people don't have themselves to blame for their "status",

Wealthy people are wealthy because their family at some point sacrificed through blood, sweat and tears and made something of themselves and then made an easier road for their children to succeed. Poor people have to be willing to sacrifice and do the same to succeed. Wealthy families have already put that sacrifice in. Most poor arent willing to sacrifice and work hard and stay on track. Its not fair to expect the families that have put that sacrifice in to pay for those that have not.

It is pure chance whether one is born rich or not. Sometimes no matter how hard you work you just don't succeed, it's not like all poor people are just lazing about, they work full time just to feed their familys, some might make it up by beeing really lucky. Not all rich familys were once poor, some of them have inherited wealth from ages ago. And if paying a small part of your wage for those who were unfortunate and a few who, well, screwed up, is too much then I think that's pretty selfish.

Drugs should be legal I do agree the govt. has no right to tell you what to do with your body however I don't want to pay for the welfare people's drug dependencies. Drugs do impair judgement, incapacitate and unmodivate in general and a druggie is not going to get hired very easily. If they want to be a druggie they don't need to be on welfare, welfare is suppose to be a temporary program to get back on your feet. There are generations of people on welfare.

I can see a temporary welfare set up like unemployment with a time limit like 6 months and only once every five years. After that you're on your own. Working people have to live with that harsh reality. For other programs: How we vote (U.S.) should dictate what we pay for. A list of programs listed and you check a box next to what social programs you want to pay for. Therefore anyone who wants it can pay for it and those who do not want to pay for it do not. That is fair.

What happens after capitalism?
Mortgage rates go up because they are set by the market. Financial companies go under because the government isn't there to bail them out. House prices fall to what people can truly afford without mortgaging their future away.
No labor unions or minimum wage laws. Small businesses start up much easier and hire more workers. This increases production and lowers prices. Everyones standard of living rises! ...but we don't have capitalism, so stop complaining!

capitalism isn't about everyone profiting. There is a division between the haves and have nots. The haves exploit the have nots in order to increase profit, and their quality of life. That is the truth, and that is the consequence of such a system. It is not sustainable in the long run. Just like socialism by theory works same with capitalism. When applied to real life. The economic system doesn't work. So a new one needs to emerge or we destroy ourselves because of it.

The sad thing is Big companies actually pray for regulation look at Wal Mart. They were glad to see the minimum wage go up it doesn't hurt them they are already a multi billion dollar industry. The system doesn't suck, you do, not everyone is going to succeed, and that's the point. You can see the whole thing unfolding with the mortgage crisis. Everybody wants government intervention. well theoretically it does, because whenever you introduce regulation you hinder some aspect of capitalism. For example take the meat crisis in the early 20th century. Government regulated beef industries but at the benefit of larger meat companies because it allowed them to reduce competition. The smaller meat companies could not afford the regulatory costs.

So saying that all of your problems derive from capitalism is just as narrow as saying that none of your problems derive from capitalism in my opinion.
