That Oxford sounded awesome. That "Funk 49" riff really captured the tone off the record (although I believe Joe used a Fender Deluxe or along that line for it). The "Communication Breakdown" riff sounded very good as well. Guess I'm gonna have to get a Telecaster, lol. Anyway, I just ordered an Oxford. Next up is the Leeds.

Just got a Red Ripper yesterday. It's awesome! The EQ makes it much easier to dial in the distortion to bring out more mids and highs than low-end. Haven't tried much with the RIP knob, I bought it thinking I wouldn't even use it.
@nicorbit I play a Hofner violin bass through a GK MB 210 and 115 extension cab. I play in a garage rock band just me and a drummer, so distortion and reverb are important to fill out the sound. The EQ is fantastic, you can get quite different sounds. If you want more top end you adjust the bass or mid down, a 1/16 turn can make a huge difference. The RIP knob is attack sensitive. The harder you pick the louder/more responsive the synth sound is.
@nicorbit The synth sound can almost sound like the guitar lead out of Stevie Wonder's Superstition. As you turn the RIP knob up the overall volume seems to go down, though, so allow yourself the ability to turn your bass up. It works great for funk or disco. Generally more manageable than the EH Bass Microsynth but much simpler as well. I haven't tried many distortion pedals designed for bass, but if this was lost or stolen I'd get another one immediately.
@raquel1234ful i have a question ? do these tech 21 work better with solid state or tube amps im curios because i have a hybred tube/solid state amp ....any info would be appreciated will the tone stay true through a solid state amp ?
@MrBingo9er any thing will sound better through a good tube amp just assume that because theyre higher quality it will probably sound okay through a solid state it will probably make it sound better either way
Man it's sound so brit rock it's awesome ^^ compare to the real orange and hiwatt the tech 21 product have is own personality, and most important sound like natural analog amplifier.
March or April of '10. I need a good pedal-based synth/envelope filter for my board, but I'm not sure if it's a bit too muc of a one-trick-pony as I have 3 overdrive/distortions already. Still, it's made my "Short List". :D
I like the fuzz tone of the bassballs, but maybe a good drive/fuzz and a good envelope filter is better. But maybe this is the better of the both worlds...
I'm not a huge fan of the BassBalls (at least the current Nano version) - it does it's one sound very well, but again is pretty much a one-trick-pony. I can certainly confirm that EF/Synth and Distortion go together like... me and my MicroPOG. I use the Overdrive and Bassynth on my SWR Mini Mo' preamp together so often that I have a dedicated patch saved to activate the two at the same time. I'm simply looking for an EF with the same dynamic range in pedal form, and EBS' is tops right now.
@MrBingo9er There is a small button on the pedal to defeat the speaker emulator. I have notice that running a sansamp into my 1966 Fender Blackface Amp that the sound is a little too "processed". With the Speaker emulator defeat the pedal acts like a normal distortion pedal, perfect for running into an amp. You always have the option of trying it both ways. Running the emulator on into the FX loop of your amp or Emulator off running into the front of the amp. try both ways.
@lanesuzza have you tried them through a solid state amp ? i have a hybred 8100 marshall valvestate (sounds really good ) but some say these work better with solid state ,,im curious because im right in the middle/ im also wondering if the oxford will get that nasty sludge stoner tone i didnt hear that done on the demo
@MrBingo9er Yes I have tried with both SS and tube amps. I ran a SamsAmp GT2 into the front of my solidstade amp for years. With an old Tube amp, like my Fender Tremolux the Sansamp is too processed. The Fender doesn't have an FX loop. The new character series pedals with the speaker defeat, I can use the pedal with my vintage Fender amp. Another bonus. If my 44 year old amp takes a dump during a gig I can push the speaker button on the pedal and run direct to PA and it sounds good. Cheers!

Finally some honesty about the website, everyone else says they've got everything on the website when they haven't and probably won't do for about a month yet.
I love the pedals. Keep rockin....

@l2p You play bass, right ?
Can you tell more about it ? What bass, what amp do you use ?? I guess the price of the pedal explains the lack of videos on the Tube :-/

How does the US Steel Recto different from the Sansamp PSA Model? Do they sound the same?

I want the U.S. Steel so bad! But if they come out with an ENGL or Bogner emulator, I'd be ALL OVER those!!

Had a personal demo by Mr. Barta of these fx. I love the Oxford. It is great and you can defeat the speaker emulation for running in front of an amp.
