Jones Jr may have been passed it. So was Joe... that's why he retired after it. Calzaghe wanted to fight Jones a decade ago... unfortunately Calzaghe wasn't well known enough then so there was not enough money in it for Jones Jr which is why HE avoided Joe... because he was a virtually unknown risk. Its a business. Joe Calzaghe IS one of the best brittish boxers ever. Probably THE best. Ask any true expert (EVEN THE AMERICAN ONES) and they will agree with it... because it's true.

@sexysiralex Huge fucking difference between Calzaghe-Hopkins and Lewis-Holyfield I. Lewis had clearly won by a country mile and anyone who can see, knew he did.

Calzaghe and Hopkins fight was close, real close. Could of gone either way. I think Hopkins did himself no favours with the judges by laying down on the canvas pretending to be hurt for nearly 5 minutes when Calzaghe started to put the pressure on. Hopkins had no one to blame but himself.

He is definitely not the greatest british boxer. Boxing fans of this era are being stupid, who did Calaghe beat? Lacy, Kessler? Calzaghe was never respected in America, no boxing expect rates him, not even in the top 100. He beat a 39 year old Roy Jones by unanimous decision. In the next couple of fights Roy Jones got knocked out in round 1. He beat a 43 year old Hopkins by Split Decision. Calzaghe ducked a rematch. He ducked an undefeated Chad Dawson.

The big names he fought he fought when they were far from their best (Jones, Eubank) I'm not gonna say Hopkins, he just gets better with age, and where was Calzaghe when Jones and Hopkins etc. were young? He never left the UK. While Lennox Lewis fought top guys all the time, (Briggs, Bruno, Holyfield, Klitschko) he faced defeat, sure. All the fights he lost he avenged with brilliance. just because he was smart in the ring doesn't mean he was not excititing

@uglybabashouse2 where was calzaghe when hopkins and jones were young? well he fought hopkins in his prime! probably one of the best fighters in modern times and joe beat him. believe me joe wanted to be fighting in the states earlier but frank warren didnt allow it. then he went over and beat the main men. kessler, hopkins, lacy (i dont rate lacy now but at the time the yanks were saying he'll be the next big thing!)...so trust me joe calzaghe is one of our best fighters

And you're right about him being one of the best but to ever say he's better than Lennox Lewis is simply wrong. Lennox Lewis is in allmost every experts top 10 heavyweights ever and very often in the top 5. He is allways ranked high in the alltime P4P lists, not very often you see Calzaghe up there. And if it's Warrens fault he didn't fight in the US then so be it. Because the real competition were in the US

i think so aswell mate,hes obviously still training,you can c that by the fact hes still the same size as he was when he was fighting,and any pro,no matter what sport,puts their feet up when they have retired for good,also joe is getting bored,and unless he finds a cure for it,he will b back in the ring,and i think he will take on and beat the winner of the super middle contest,unless kessler wins it,joe will only come back for a fresh challenge,i hope its froch,so joe can shut the prick up,
