Thanks for your reply. Is the screen and digitizer fused together with tape adhesive or something like glue? The manufactuer makes phones that end up disposable when the screen cracks. it is cheaper to sign new contract and pay for new phone almost. Sad that one part costs so much. Shame on cell makers these days, something this expensive shouldnt be disposable because of such a common problem.
I know you that you can not replace only glass. but i found the glass only on ebay $12.55. look the same and says it is for samsung focus i917. Have you seen this? so is it possible to change glass only? if not why is this part out there?
@Amywazwaz06 It is not "impossible" to replace only the glass - just very unlikely for it to turn out successful and in good condition. Basically, because the screens are fused together it makes it very difficult to separate without damaging the other screen. They are available, because people buy them assuming it can be repaired simply, when that is not the case in most situations. At that price, I would be very concerned about the quality of the part as well.
How long did you guys heat the screen? I can't get mine to get loose enough to slip in the prying tool. The prying tool lost its edge from trying to jam it in.
@Ricardo1030 Heating normally takes 30 seconds to 1 minute. It is always better to heat less, but more often. Alternatives to safe pry tools can be small flat head screwdrivers, guitar picks, butter knives, etc. Just be aware that they are harder than the housing and can cause damage if not used carefully.
@kachal23 Sadly no, the LCD screen and glass touch screen digitizer is fused together. The full assembly will need to be replaced. These are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@sirerics0n No problem at all! The Focus only requires a small Phillips screwdriver. Replacement screens and tools are available at RepairsUniverse (dot) com.
@peytonlafever The screen is a simple swap out. As for the adhesive, all of our current stock has adhesive pre installed. If your replacement screen does not have adhesive, adding some will insure the screen is fully seated and wont move around.
Keep heating it up until it's a little easier to pry off the screen, else you'll run into some cleanup afterwards, and at worst you'll end up messing up the 3 capacitive touch buttons, which is a single strip that's pretty fragile.
@us3rnotfound Yes, great point. There is however a fine line between enough heat and too much heat which could potentially damage the screen. The flex cable is very fragile and should be handled with great care. Thanks for your input!
Great Video. But at the end you should have turned over the screen to show what the back looked like! There are many of us interested in screen replacement and want to know what it looks like.
is there a way to take the screen off without heating it?
StaticSpinner 6 days ago
@StaticSpinner Not easily, no. Heat will warm the adhesive, making it easier to separate. Without heat you risk causing more damage to the device.

@Amywazwaz06 It is fused - melted together basically. So you have to break the fusion without causing other damages, which is very tough.
Yes, it is very disappointing.
