@Giantcrabb I agree, in my opinion it is too fast. As far as tastefulness, to each his own. The finest recording of this piece I've ever heard was also Diaz, from the 60's. He played it a bit slower and allowed the music to catch its own breath a bit more, so to speak.

You're rigth, even though, Díaz is considered one of the best guitarists ever. Lauro, the composer, preferred his waltzes to be played slower, for those reasons you explained

Hay un CD que saió al mercado recientemente que es una compilación de ejecuciones caseras de las obras guitarrísticas de Lauro hechas por el mismo compositor.

Ahora, amigo Piuhang, Lauro no sólo compuso para guitarra, también hizo trabajos para coros mixtos, madrigales, obras sinfónicas, en fin de todo un poco, puesto que era maestro compositor graduado. Consegir videos del maestro Lauro tocando sus composiciones es un poco difícil, hay una por ahí que es una canción de cuna llamada Ana Cristina

En efecto, fueron grandes amigos, estudiaron juntos bajo la tutela de Raúl Borges, quien fue el precursor de los estudios guitarrísticos en Venezuela. Hasta donde yo sé Lauro sólo estudió en Venezuela. Alirio Díaz sí estudió en Europa. Lauro también fue un muy buen guitarrista, y este vals es apenas parte de su repertorio como compositor
