That`s a nice one. I have a 1967 SS 427 IMPALA Numbers matching. Super rare. I have the window sticker, everything ! I am in process of putting it on E bay. I have had it for about 17 years garage kept. If you are, or if you know anyone who is interested let me know.
@tedthe4 cruised to school in one in highschool everyday (86'), ss 427, turbo 400, original blue paint, console. Was actually mint car but he didn't realize it.
Not a survivor car bub-repaint, new upholstery-these cars were not that shiny-nice ride, maybe even numbers matching-but not a survivor and not all original!
My friend went to an estate auction back in the 80's. There was a '70 Caprice, wrecked on the left front. The suspension was messed up, no wheels, and the car had been sitting for ten years.
It had a 454 emblem on the good fender, but the auctioneer said the engine was a 350. The hood was jammed, so he couldn't tell anything about the engine. He bought the car, figuring it was worth $100.
When he got the hood open, he got a surprise. It was a good 454. New oil, rebuilt carb, and it ran.
Though it isn't seen on this video, I have always wondered why the '68 Impala had a unique Impala badge, style unlike the name badge of any other year.
hidden head lights were only 68 and 69 and they were only avalable on the caprice not the impala or any lower class full-size chevy automobile ...if it has the hidden head lights it was either a CAprice first or an impala with that added by the private owner as a after market additive
i own a 1969 chevy Caprice and it came with this option new in 1969 plus electric windows ,power steering, vynale top,and many other luxury items that were avalable for the caprice
@BarbieACook The 1968 full sized assembly manual does actually show this option (RPO T-83) as being available on all the 15-16000 series models. There is a page in that same assembly manual that actually shows retractable headlamps listed under the Z-24 option. If you had the money in 1968, a dealer would have most definitely ordered it for you. The only true way to prove this was factory installed is to have the build sheet.
it would look even nicer if it had 24 in. rims

Sorry, no hidden headlights for Impalas. Caprice only, 1968 and 69.

Actually, a piece of original documentation recently surfaced which shows a 68 Impala with the hideaway headlight option on it.
