i report people that sell gold now after someone hacked my WoW account and got it banned for selling gold. it's a problem in every game... even CoH where it's easy to make your money working the auction house. i don't see why people need to buy game money in the first place. i've never had trouble making money in any MMO that i've played.
go play any and i mean ANY Korean mmo, and you will understand why people buy gold. Lets see how long it takes you to farm 156k mats and 900m for a 60% fail rate on producing an item. on top of that 66% chance of failing enchanting it. Your item blows up if fail either.
It's not the seller thats the big problem, its the Korean style RPG system I understand why they do, i dont do it because i want the accomplishment that i earned it. I don't understand buying in easy to make money 1s
No, gold selling not clearly an established a crime. However, it is manipulation of ArenaNet's property in a way that ArenaNet clearly states it does not want, as stipulated in their ToS, so I think it's not nearly as clear cut as this guy says it is. Finally, okay, so not EVERY gold selling site is going to hack your account, but I would hardly characterize any site as "legitimate" that flagrantly violate a piece of software's and online service's ToS.
Question if someone knows this stuff back when i used to play this game i had bought 200k because my friend said its easy way to get armor i wanted that bone armor Dervish's get can someone tell me why when i had 67k in my bank that they took it ALL not just the money i bought but it all?
People have money, people nowadays are getting lazy. Who's to blame really? The customers becoming greedy? Or the services that help these greedy kids becoming more greedy? Either way I'm gonna try and buy gold for the sake of chargebacks. Free gold here we come! ^^
If you were a legitimate company you would not be worried about charge backs, because you could contest them. Legitimate RMT? That's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.
Here's an idea... If you're going to play an MMO, a game DESIGNED around time investments... Why not just play it? If that's not your thing... There are tons of other games out there, that are pick up n play instant action.
Some people enjoy MMOs for what they are. RMTers are just a plague to them.
Nothing in these MMO's belongs to the end user. You own nothing. Get over it.
The problem with gold farming and selling of gold is that it gives wealthy players an advantage that brings unbalance to the game. Especially in PVP environments.
I have no problem with games that allow farming and selling. I just wouldn't play on one.
Cool pin's, I own 3 myself. Pinbot was my first love.
But they are paying for your time. Time is yours. What happens if you looked at it from that perspective? They are paying for your time.
I do think it just ruines it for the person but if they are rich enough to risk it go for it, I draw the line at if it unbalances the economy in any way or if that gold was obtained illegally via bots, hacks, scams, or account theft.
People say its not theirs to sell but if you earnt it on a legit copy I dont see the problem.
was this really uhhh 8 minutes of talking ummm nonsense? you could've gotten that out in about ooohh 2 minutes. Were you just trying to ummm show off the office or uhh something?
The selling of any currency from any game should be a punishable crime. It's bad enough the game designers are doing it with offering new armor for real currency. These are games...they shouldn't be a business for people wanting to play.
@Gu1LdVvarRiOr The "new armor" that F2P mmos sell to players is their only method of obtaining money from their users. You can't maintain a game with no income.
ok i kinda see where he's coming from. kinda like the girl at the counter of mcdonalds taking your order, she didnt make the burger or fry the fries but she still collects a paycheck, or a commodities broker, never made it doesnt have to see it but sells it. now on the other side of the same coin it could be said that a drug dealer or a shill is in the same position. now the power leveling is like having someone writing your S.A.T's.
It's not a service, guild wars rewards you with money for doing stuff, you use it to purchase in-game junk, as a reward for doing what you did in the game.
You are not performing a service, a service helps or assists society in some way.
gold prices have pretty much bottomed out over the past few months. roughtly 2.7- 3.5 per k these days. so basically 30$ is not much and it will get you 10k gold in a few hours.
anyways, if you don't play much and your looking to buy all the high priced gear/pets/novelties etc. buying gold is a pretty good deal.
If intrested email US.Realm.WowGold@gmail.com just enter your server and amount of gold your looking to get.
I don't support this industry, one of the challenges in game for me besides playing is accumulating wealth. Of course I don't have the gargantuan requirements like some do to inflate my ego by flaunting costly armors, weapons and minis, but to each his/her own.
If the game companies had a service selling currency instead of letting hackers and chinese people doing it, it would help everybody. If they don't want that, they should be very mean to everybody selling and make a report system for it with rewards. They should have other ways of getting gold in the game. Even a sort of "logged out, resting" system of earning gold.
So earlier in your vid you say you don't support selling guild wars gold, then a few minutes later you say oh yea, well we kinda do support it. You're part of the problem, you try and scam paypal with false transactions, and you make a living of ruining games legit economy and then you come on here and try to defend it.
Power Leveling is a service, selling gold for real cash is not a service its just a way to screw up the ingame currency. If Arena Net wanted their game to have sellers that trade gold for real cash they could have done it themselfs already, there is a way they want to run things and if thats the way they want to run it you should respect them if not then find another game where you can buy gold with real cash, trust me there are plenty out there.
Technecly it is legal to sell gold in games but the mass production of gold and items KILLS the economy in game.... It takes the fun out of the game if u buy like 300k. Seriusly. THATS NOT PLAYING that is called cheating.... Put it in consept of real life... There is no such thing as not working for your money if u start off broke and have abosolutly nothing... Yes take into account for getting anob but still Its flat Fking cheating....
If you get caught buying or selling gold or items you can get your account banned. They are very clear that is against the terms you agreed to when you installed the game. The risk is yours.
I understand your point in this matter but try to think of it this way.You make a game that thousands of people play they have fun the kid the joke. But then someone tries to make money off your game the thing you created. To me thats like a big punch to the gutt. Its not right to make Money off ove something you did not create.
I buy gw gold, when i played d2 i would buy items. I have the money and am not interested in farming just to get something. Frankly if the game makers made it easier to get title's and items, people like me would not buy gold from someone willing to farm for it. I have no interest in spending 6 hours a day killing baby raptors or farming ectos just to get points for a title.
@tedindahouse Ive been buying gw gold/ectos on and off for awhile now and i never got banned or suspended. i guess it depends on who you buy from and if the gold sellers are professional or not. usually the way it works is you go to the site. pay. then go to like a live chat and talk to them then meet their agents ingame and just trade. but yeah. for me i risk it all when i go against the terms of service thats just how it is.
@kaw37 ether way you should go to hell for screwing a perfectly wonderful games economy. Gold farming and gold selling should be banned and I do not care what you say or how you rationalize it. if the company is against it then you shouldn't be doing it. regardless Arena net have made their stance clear no matter who you go to to them it is wrong and you shouldn't be doing it.
@LethalNEKO yeah which is highly likely that they will find out. the only way they will find out is if you act stupid in game while waiting for your gold and if you bring attention to yourself.
ok well you people that think u can hide it you, cant, if u but items with gold u bought from some one else GW will know and remove any items u bought with the ilegal gold. and Crysis you are right i read alot of comments from a bunvh of idiots that need to go some where else and be idiots there.
wow, you are a jackass. This "service" of providing a means of "buying" someone's property IS illegal. Hey, how about I list your house for sale, but I will not sell your house for 250,000. Instead I charge 250,000 for my service of getting the buyer into your house. It's a service man, I never sold your house....
in repo bank and Real Estate agents make money off of stuff that is not theres all the time If you earn it in a game that means you put in the work to get it. Work being the opritave term because you put in work eg time and effort and the item is transferable you can sell it right or wrong Yes it is cheating but you know what? They wont feel as good as the people who really earned it they get there kicks from other people not having what they have but on the inside they know they didnt earn it
@grandefun You're paying him for his time. You could easily make the gold on your own, but not everyone likes to spend the time farming gold. You're paying someone else to go do it for you. Therefore, it is a service.
@BigMoneyWann the industry has moved on from farming gold since this video and very reliant on stealing accounts nowadays since the bot hammer of Dhuum. Still providing a service you agree with? Alot of the victims are ex-customers. Markee's business is legitimate which he explains here but the majority are not. The illegal ones may have more items to offer but theres more risk to yourself for a ban or hack.
@grandefun Thats completely different. For one, you didnt do ANYTHING to earn his house, so why would you feel like you earned the right to sell it? On the other hand, he is saying that people who put actual time into earning gold on games, feel like they have SOME sort of ownership over what they have earned. For example, legitimate gold sellers are not hacking guild wars servers to create millions of gold and then selling it for profit, they are earning their gold, fair and square.
@grandefun Wouldnt you be puterbed if the game company just took all the gold you earned because it was after all their property? They can do that, you know. But there is a sort of understanding, that what you earn within this game, is yours to keep. The same goes for reality, if you go to MarkeeDragons house and pick flowers for three hours, you may be entitled to some of those flowers, or you may be entitled to some other form of compensation. Or he could be a completel dick and not pay you.
@grandefun Thats his decision, but you can bet that if he just had you picking flowers for no compensation, word would get out that he was an underhanded sleeze and nobody would pick flowers for him anymore. What I am trying to say is, its their property, but they are probably giving some sort of fair use on it, meaning, you earned it, you can do what you want with it, but they have restrictions on your freedom. Thats their choice. They arent gonna steal your gold from you, because if they did,
@grandefun Then nobody would play their game anymore. So they let you have your gold, and they let you spend it, but they dont let you trade it for anything outside of their game. Which is understandable, but then again thats the decision of the company. And they have clarified that, it may sound a bit unfair, that they are putting restrictions on what you earned from them, but it IS their property.
If you buy the gold (say 500k) then buy items in game say Kegs of ale, with in a couple of hours, and spend all of the money you brought is that enough time for Areanet to fidn out you have done it ? and what coudl they do as there no realy proof then? Take away the items you just brought or what?
@salgurdar Well no they suspend for 60 days. Nd they also need atleast 6- 12 hours to track that money so if you use it fast enough you should be fine.
And here I was thinking this was some legit report about how RMT companies deserve to be screwed, and I find out it's a rant about how your livelihood is deservedly in danger.
RMT destroys games. It encourages people to flood games and intrude on other people's right to enjoy the game by monopolising spawns, by exploiting, botting and hacking. You're just shitting yourself that your free ride is over.
Get a real job instead of exploiting people who are to lazy to actually play a game.
Your entire argument is a straw man. "We're not selling gold, we're selling a service to acquire gold for you." What a massive load of toss. By the way, what games were you "trading currency" in in 1997?
I agree completely with arenanet on the whole gold buying business because yes while you are providing a service, your service is ruining the game. Imagine if there was a short-cut in the real world to making money. Why would anyone want to work for their money when they can pay $10 and get 100000 game gold? This transactions ruins the economy and it ruins the game. In effect, these services have the ability to ruin a game and take money away from the maker. Just an opinion. Don't cry about it.
@Beastofcookies how can it ruin the game? buying money can only stimulate the ingame economy... the gold would be there anywa but dead, through goldsellers, the gold goes to the most productive hands.. it only can cause a little inflation wich keeps the mind of the traf´ders sharp... besides when elite people cant buy gold they leave bcuz they dont have the time... and without the game dies even faster.... companies who say its bad are just too greedy
That's kind of big loophole to say that selling gold is a service, not a sale of goods.
Let's say I manufacture and sell widgets, and try to say instead "I provide the service of manufacturing your widgets and delivering them to my clients", and did so to satisfy some loophole (like to lower my taxes). That wouldn't fly in any court.

REALLLLLLY NOT LOOOKING AT RIPPING PEOPLE OFF LOOK AT THE FUCKING BIG SCREEN TV BEHIND YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and ur Computer wow this guy has really no idea what hes saying
Look this topic is totally bogus, gold buying is for the noobs of GW and I pray to the great GW gods that they get their asses banned for life haha. Though to comment on the fact that Anet tells people to charge back, I think people should regardless if someone manually grinds for the gold thats sold or botted its against the rules to sell the gold because it isn't theirs period.
@Dragas13 - And you are a piece of those who are not noobs eh? What you're saying, is just a hatred against new players and anet for "not doing a right thing" or something like that. That really isn't a good sprit, ya know? Instead of mocking and calling names, go do something useful.
My GW account just got hacked a couple days ago and they are telling me it is was member of a Real-Money Trading (RMT) organization. I have never used anything like that before, I busted my ass to make my money. I its going to take over 1mil to replace my weapons and elite armors. They wont replace my stuff and I have no weapons, no armor to even farm my money back so I have no choice but to buy gold! Thank you hacker and GuildWars
I appreciate your somewhat balanced commentary markee, but you're walking the line of hypocrisy by stating "I don't support violating the TOS" while linking offsite directly to someone that does.
Microtransaction methods are a viable revenue stream in the industry that has been gaining popularity, but when companies, no matter how well intentioned deliberately interject an unintended method of ingame revenue, it destabalizes ingame economies which in turn hurts developers AND players.
my friend bought gold for $100 and when he logged on it said he was suspended it was sooo funny I couldn't stop laughing for days. he bought it so he could get his elite armor. Well now I have my elite armor and tons of other hard to get things and he is still where he was before he bought the gold xD
nice words but gold seller are ruining game econemy.
because some people are capebol of buying thousent of gold for a few bucks players who work hard for it cant buy anyting fun because the prices keep going up.
trying to sell ingame items kill game's anyway for only a insane person is gonne wast money on pixels i mean when i buy i game i want it to be compleet no monthly payments no 6 trilion update to fuck up the game play
game shoud be build for fun like in the old days not to make money.
@DhaPerson Totally "uh" agree. I think, no wait, I KNOW this guy enjoys hearing himself talk. An 8 minute video of you saying "uh" the same thing over and over?
What i don't get is GuildWars sells skills and other in-game items but when they aren't making money they get angry and ban people. If anything that's stimulating the economy because half of the people that don't have the money are buying it and in end are buyign armor or weapons.
YES! I can hardly make more than 5k every time I find a way to get money or anything else easily it gets nerfed... Nerfing is probably the only reason so many people have stopped playing O.o
Hey, buttmunch. Why don't you direct your efforts to TRULY legit enterprises, like Second Life, instead of trying to justify ruining the economies of various games? Your actions create an excessive money supply, which creates price inflation, which makes the non-cheating player frustrated and feel they can't win, which causes the playerbase to dwindle, and the game gets axed. Case in point: The Sims Online. So yeah, you deserve to be lumped in with the rest of the bottom-feeders & n00bz.
what you have to concider with guild wars is that money doesnt make a character any overall better, 1k armor is jsut as good as 15k armor, a voltaic spear is the same as a crude spear, the only thing gold selling does is give them the advantage of nice gears and fast titles, but u cant buy skill, and you cant buy many of the titles. in summery, gold buyying really doesnt effect the game too heavily, and i personally enjoy selling gold for money, mostly dofus kamas and such. this was a bad move
I know you take a lot of money for it but just because there is demand by apparently a lot of idiot customers that don't understand what will happen to mmorpg's with massive gold industries just because they are impatient and want gold now. Naive as it may be of me isn't there any morality in you. Any little voice that says "Hey maybe we shouldn's fuck this mmorpg over and ruin the gameenvironment for ppl who actually like playing this?
Because all I look for is a soulcalibur meets WoW (questbased big world awesome pvp) type of mmorpg. And when something like Aion comes out the likes of it is already flooded by companies like YOURS. Do you take pride in basicly helping corrupt game environments?
Ppl that buy gold get an unfair advantage and buy their power instead of acquiring it ingame like its supposed to be. I understand that the main problem is the ppl that manage the game + the idiots that buy it. But when I see cool games go down the toilet because of goldspammers in all chat. Ksers and cocky little bastards that buy 1000's of dollars worth of YOUR botted gold and then create unfair competition I get a little bit pissed.
So its goldsellers like you that kill in basis good games. Developers and managers aside. Silkroadonline in basis a good game (allthough a grindfest) Get poluted by the likes of you "legitemate" goldseller (in my opnion there is no such thing but I get your geste and the distinction you try to make amongst various goldsellers). Fact remains gameenvironment get corrupted because of goldfarmers. Goldbots ks REAL players.
You posted a retarded ass comment and i responded politely, you responded not politely so I'm going to own you over the internet.
Fuck you, your a fucking dumbass and you need to retake your business class to distinguish the difference between a good and a service you retarded ass 11 year old twat.
Leave youtube and go die in a car fire you waste of time and space.
Gold buying and selling will always be apart of MMO gaming. I had one account suspended before for purchasing gold. IMO: It's not the Gold farmers messing up the economy, it's the people paying for the gold. Take Matrix Online for example. Sony released a new area to "farm" for info (gold). It was to easy to make money, and the inflation on "rare" items sky rocketed through the roof in a week. Anet keeps it in check through monitoring large quantities of info being traded.
Arena Net hasn't really kept the economy of Guild Wars in check. A-net has screwed the economy so that's not really the reason they want to stop gold sellers/buyers. They do it because they don't want other people making money off their game.
gold spammers are scum go work for a living and dont flood the chat, its not a service its a scam!!! get a real warhouse and fill it with real goods and stop making money off of the back of a videogame
LOL all i will say is if you have a laptop and a separate email account this is the easiest and safest way to buy gold in any game. Go to any store/restaurant and create an account. buy gold with that account then transfer the gold to your real account. Your main character will not be banned because it is a different ip and different account. So even if they ban the ip its not yours XD sucks for the loser using that store to play if the ip is banned.
Second of all: Arena Net moniters any trades that have anything suspicious about them, such as giving 100k for free out of the blue?
So transfering it onto your own character would just shift their attention on you, and if they suspect you bought the gold, they'll suspend you, and take that money away.
i'd like to know how you can start off by saying that the devs have rules to try and keep gaming fair and prevent botting and farming as well as selling 'gold' (i play coh so inf but same damn thing) and yet you are a seller?
ive never found any reson to justify farming (for coh thats redoing an instance over and over w/o compleating the mission otherwise you cant redo it) i ban people off my list if they even send me an invite to a 'farm'
yes my freind got gold on a 2nd acc. and the 2nd acc. got banned instead of his main, idk if it will reach out to your main with the ban but it didnt to my freind
Scam the Scammers?
Now that is really bad right?

People have money, people nowadays are getting lazy. Who's to blame really? The customers becoming greedy? Or the services that help these greedy kids becoming more greedy? Either way I'm gonna try and buy gold for the sake of chargebacks. Free gold here we come! ^^
yours3lF1987 1 year ago
If you were a legitimate company you would not be worried about charge backs, because you could contest them. Legitimate RMT? That's an oxymoron if I ever heard one.
Here's an idea... If you're going to play an MMO, a game DESIGNED around time investments... Why not just play it? If that's not your thing... There are tons of other games out there, that are pick up n play instant action.
Some people enjoy MMOs for what they are. RMTers are just a plague to them.
Lillium222 1 year ago

I still would never do it.

You can't maintain a game with no income.

selling others intellectual property is illegal. However try to fight it when your not even the creator of the game which has the gold.

Even a sort of "logged out, resting" system of earning gold.
kmlcast 1 year ago
So earlier in your vid you say you don't support selling guild wars gold, then a few minutes later you say oh yea, well we kinda do support it.

I buy gw gold, when i played d2 i would buy items. I have the money and am not interested in farming just to get something. Frankly if the game makers made it easier to get title's and items, people like me would not buy gold from someone willing to farm for it. I have no interest in spending 6 hours a day killing baby raptors or farming ectos just to get points for a title.

tedindahouse 1 year ago
@tedindahouse Ive been buying gw gold/ectos on and off for awhile now and i never got banned or suspended. i guess it depends on who you buy from and if the gold sellers are professional or not. usually the way it works is you go to the site. pay. then go to like a live chat and talk to them then meet their agents ingame and just trade. but yeah. for me i risk it all when i go against the terms of service thats just how it is.

@kaw37 ether way you should go to hell for screwing a perfectly wonderful games economy. in repo bank and Real Estate agents make money off of stuff that is not theres all the time If you earn it in a game that means you put in the work to get it. Work being the opritave term because you put in work eg time and effort and the item is transferable you can sell it right or wrong Yes it is cheating but you know what? They wont feel as good as the people who really earned it they get there kicks from other people not having what they have but on the inside they know they didnt earn it
spadeyomoma 10 months ago
@grandefun You're paying him for his time. You could easily make the gold on your own, but not everyone likes to spend the time farming gold. You're paying someone else to go do it for you. Therefore, it is a service.
BigMoneyWann 6 months ago
@BigMoneyWann the industry has moved on from farming gold since this video and very reliant on stealing accounts nowadays since the bot hammer of Dhuum. Still providing a service you agree with? Alot of the victims are ex-customers. Markee's business is legitimate which he explains here but the majority are not. The illegal ones may have more items to offer but theres more risk to yourself for a ban or hack.
BogusDudeGW 2 months ago
@grandefun Thats completely different. For one, you didnt do ANYTHING to earn his house, so why would you feel like you earned the right to sell it? On the other hand, he is saying that people who put actual time into earning gold on games, feel like they have SOME sort of ownership over what they have earned. For example, legitimate gold sellers are not hacking guild wars servers to create millions of gold and then selling it for profit, they are earning their gold, fair and square.
Araknid777 5 months ago
@grandefun Wouldnt you be puterbed if the game company just took all the gold you earned because it was after all their property? They can do that, you know. But there is a sort of understanding, that what you earn within this game, is yours to keep. The same goes for reality, if you go to MarkeeDragons house and pick flowers for three hours, you may be entitled to some of those flowers, or you may be entitled to some other form of compensation. Or he could be a completel dick and not pay you.
Araknid777 5 months ago
@grandefun Thats his decision, but you can bet that if he just had you picking flowers for no compensation, word would get out that he was an underhanded sleeze and nobody would pick flowers for him anymore. What I am trying to say is, its their property, but they are probably giving some sort of fair use on it, meaning, you earned it, you can do what you want with it, but they have restrictions on your freedom. Thats their choice. They arent gonna steal your gold from you, because if they did,
Araknid777 5 months ago
@grandefun Then nobody would play their game anymore. So they let you have your gold, and they let you spend it, but they dont let you trade it for anything outside of their game. Which is understandable, but then again thats the decision of the company. And they have clarified that, it may sound a bit unfair, that they are putting restrictions on what you earned from them, but it IS their property.
Araknid777 5 months ago

Nothing inside the game is owned by the players.
Players pay for the right to play the game. Not of any virtual item, currency and the such inside the game.
You see it differently because you probably got cash from it.
Buying gold to other 'players' from a game that does not include that as a part of the game (a few do) it's absurd.
If they wanted anyone getting cash by paying, they would give the service themselves.

Beastofcookies 1 year ago

Microtransaction methods are a viable revenue stream in the industry that has been gaining popularity, but when companies, no matter how well intentioned deliberately interject an unintended method of ingame revenue, it destabalizes ingame economies which in turn hurts developers AND players.

SonnoMaku 2 years ago
Hey, buttmunch. Why don't you direct your efforts to TRULY legit enterprises, like Second Life, instead of trying to justify ruining the economies of various games? Your actions create an excessive money supply, which creates price inflation, which makes the non-cheating player frustrated and feel they can't win, which causes the playerbase to dwindle, and the game gets axed. Case in point: The Sims Online. So yeah, you deserve to be lumped in with the rest of the bottom-feeders & n00bz.
BillyBughead 2 years ago
what you have to concider with guild wars is that money doesnt make a character any overall better, 1k armor is jsut as good as 15k armor, a voltaic spear is the same as a crude spear, the only thing gold selling does is give them the advantage of nice gears and fast titles, but u cant buy skill, and you cant buy many of the titles. in summery, gold buyying really doesnt effect the game too heavily, and i personally enjoy selling gold for money, mostly dofus kamas and such. this was a bad move

Ppl that buy gold get an unfair advantage and buy their power instead of acquiring it ingame like its supposed to be.
KinematicViscosity 2 years ago

Arena Net hasn't really kept the economy of Guild Wars in check. A-net has screwed the economy so that's not really the reason they want to stop gold sellers/buyers. They do it because they don't want other people making money off their game.

First of all: They don't IP ban.
Second of all: Arena Net moniters any trades that have anything suspicious about them, such as giving 100k for free out of the blue?
So transfering it onto your own character would just shift their attention on you, and if they suspect you bought the gold, they'll suspend you, and take that money away.

Perfect example of why it's such a waste of time to play MMO's. The economies always go to shit because of this crap. I hope they all burn.

When the charge is under 100 bucks it goes through pretty much automatically, and they these websites dont give refunds.

i'd like to know how you can start off by saying that the devs have rules to try and keep gaming fair and prevent botting and farming as well as selling 'gold' (i play coh so inf but same damn thing) and yet you are a seller?
ive never found any reson to justify farming (for coh thats redoing an instance over and over w/o compleating the mission otherwise you cant redo it) i ban people off my list if they even send me an invite to a 'farm'
PL'rs are the onlything i find worse

Alright, I rewatched the vid. You believe that because gold is digital that all rights of said gold is considered a commodity or service.
Now that's the equivalent of saying that software and music can be used without permission because it's not necessarily a physical product.
In the terms of use, you agree to the terms of "so-and-so owns all rights to data contained herein" in games like WoW.
A subscription is not a mortgage; it's monthly rent.
And you're still a fat fuck.
