I couldn't wait to see Bram Stokers Dracula back in 1992, And apart from some dodgy English accents I loved it so much that I saw it a further 5 times that year. But now I seem to dislike it more and more. maybe it was a case of over kill. Maybe my Dracula fan boy blinkers have been removed and I can see it for the MTV rubbish that it seems in my view to have become. Strangely I'm starting to drawn to the re-releases of Doug McClure fantasy epics.
I saw Ghost in the Shell for the first time on TV1000 in the 96 or something after I'd been away for more than 24h. I'd had a friend and his PC over and we had played games over null-modem cable a lot, then eventually we started to doze off on each our couches with the TV on, and suddenly came awake due to GitS. Then I had to just sleep and decide to see the movie later. Quite possibly the best movie I've ever seen.
@SpeedFreakNO definitely one of the best ive seen...but for english speaking audience plz watch jap version with eng subs not american dubbing its awful and spoils the whole experience
@hYpYz No, I don't think so at all, i prefer the US dub. That goes for all GitS stuff. Nothing wrong with the Japanese audio, but I prefer the US. Doesn't feel like dubbing at all. I've never seen dubbing in other movies that I like, it's always been just horrible and I can't stand it, subtitles for the win! But not on GitS.
I feel similarly with all art, be it music or film or painting or sculpture. Everytime I hear a certain album it takes me back to the summer when I was 15. Everytime I see Love and Death it reminds me of my father. So I can never really experience these things. My initial reaction was genuine because I wasn't associating it with anything past but now I only feel what I could feel at the time, I can never make a new judgement... maybe a correct judgement
I saw Fight Club three days after being hospitalised by street thugs.
And, no, I didn't get a discounted ticket.

I LOVED Before Sunrise & Sunset so I dunno if I'd like the film Mark is talking about, as I've already seen those films...

The expectations you have are also a very important factor whether you like a film or not.

But Mark, I went into transformers in a good mood, then came out in an obvious bad one.

Exactly what I say - it's the circumstance that causes certain perceptions of a film to come to light :)

It's not loading for me, so I'll have to make some generic comment about the content without viewing it.
Well spoken!
