@Puma722 How is Ben Askren not a good wrestler? he holds the ncaa record for most pins in a season with a total collegiate record of 158-8. not to mention he is also a 2x ncaa champ which also wrestled in the 2008 summer olympics. Askren hasn't been in mma that long he is in-experienced but good still lost. And good has been in it for a number of years. Sounds like askren just stepped into a whole new world of martial arts and beat good.

Do people actually believe that fighting, whether in a cage, on the street, in the woods during the stone age, had to be regulated to standing up, or only exotic moves? @abbeykroeter , no, Good was most incomplete, he had no answer for Askren's takedowns and Askren said so even before the fight. I was to say the least dis-appointed, but i also blame the TSK organization for the loss to some degree, by not having him fight for over a year was .........stupid. Being Champion is not just winning a belt, but defending it. I'm not speaking of exotic moves, i'm more speaking from takedown defense and mounting an attack from his strength position. Askren stopped that.

@Puma722 , well we were wrong, Lyman will not be back for the re-match. He has no real takedown defense against serious takedown artists. His skillset there is weak and others now see that and will take advantage, especially strong wrestlers and Judokas. He has got to move a bit outside of his present camp and cross train with a few others on his takedown defense to improve. Can't get to the very top if he can't get by Hawn and Askren, and forget about the UFC at Welterweight!

@dnic0201 Wrestling is enough when you're the caliber of wrestler that Askren is. You don't need anything more to be considered a warrior if you can do what you do at the level that Askren does it. Sure, there have been a lot of good wrestlers in MMA but none that have multiple ncaa championships, hold the ncaa record for pins in a season, and have been members of the olympic wrestling team. Askren is on a whole other level.

Hey, it's not about finishing a fight, it's about winning. If you're on the bottom and you don't like that a guy is holding you down, then it's simple: get him off of you. If you can't, it's your problem, not his. Ben was active the entire time anyway.

I feel that wrestlers should take a page from Askren's book. He has been very active. He isn't staying in the guard but actually passing it. He got mount I think in every round. It was crazy. I would like to see him go for sub attempts though. He almost got one off his back. I think he can definitely get one from the mount.

Not one real good takedown defense to transition to the stand up or to set Askren up to catch him comming in. I saw no real counters on the ground as Askren took the mount position about 10 times!! No escapes whatsoever!! If Lyman is going to continue, I suggest he do some outside training as well. Go to American Top Team to improve on wrestling maybe.
