You all can say what you want about Jimmy sounding like Jeff (blah, blah, blah....such a booooooring, drawn-out topic), but the point is, the man can sing, and with a passion that 9/10 artists out there today do NOT have. So what if he sounds reminiscent of Buckley or Bono or Yorke...I can think of a million other worse artists to be compared to. Jimmy Gnecco's voice is sublime with or without comparison.

the opinion that jimmy gnecco sounds like jeff buckley (with a dash of thom yorke and bono, for that matter) is widely discussed, not only by fans on the internet, but by critics as well. (check reviews on iTunes or rollingstone for that matter.) i even watched a video on youtube of jimmy discussing jeff and meeting him and recognizing how much they sounded alike.

Obviously you're wrong, considering I own every Buckley CD and over 300 MP3s of him. SOUNDING like someone and RIPPING OFF SOMEONE'S STYLE are TWO COMPLETELY different things.

Buckley's style is so completely different from Jimmy's it's not even funny, and I find it even funnier when uneducated people talk as if they know anything about vocals. Like I give a fuck what the critics say.. critics also say Nirvana was good and Kurt could sing. Hah.

that would be because that kind of stuff is all up to opinion. one person may find what kurt cobain did genius, while others still may find it to be horrible. the same thing applies to what people hear when they listen to someone's voice. some people may pick up on things that other people don't realize until it's pointed out. and people may have differing opinions on those things.

i happen to think that there are style similarities in the way jeff and jimmy sing. i can't imagine those things are purely coincidental considering the brief history the two shared. and it is, of course, obvious the two don't sound EXACTLY alike. that's a given. the similarities, however, are too obvious to discount and merely say that they simply sound alike, in my opinion.
