  • pianist D. Blumenthal

  • How I love romantic piano music. So many wonderful pieces that lie neglected!

  • This would be fun to play. It's like playing the last part of Ravel's "Jeux d'eau" but the whole time. Really nice sound

  • Reminds me a lot of Thalberg

  • A truly marvelous piece. Kudos to YouTube for offering a medium for musical exploration like this. What a find. My life could have otherwise went by without me discovering Blumenfeld.

To the person below that said they played this at a recital do you have any tips for how to play this? An I am assuming you played it solo correct?

  • @ch252525 Hes not really that well known but he is well known for his etude for the left hand piece apparently.

  • Wow, no dislikes for this vid!

  • @paopaomanalansan Hopefully it stays that way...

  • just glorious..

  • This is a wonderful piece of music. Thank you for posting it.

  • I played this piece at a recital a few weeks ago. Blumenfeld's music should be performed way more often. It's great music and I'm really glad Hexameron posts these kind of videos.

  • once i heard it, i knew i was going to put away all my working pieces and start this one!

  • This was a really great piece! Thanks for posting! Does anybody know a good website where books of these rarely performed pieces like this one can be ordered? None of the major online sites carry these composers.

  • @fhood try IMSLP

  • Very very nice theme!!

  • That last but one chord.....probably the best noticeable chord I've ever heard in my entire life.

  • Thank you, Hexameron, we greatly appreciate your hard work making these important videos.

  • Is sad that this music isn´t perform in any recital.

  • what a magical bloom. thank you.

  • blumenfeld sure loved composing SUPER tough piano works

  • @dalecampbl6 Well except this one :P

  • Very inspiring....i can say....... great composition!!

but.....not well known...... not even known......forgotten......as well as other cmposers like him........fate is not always fair.

  • Awesome, very nice!

  • Just beautiful ~ !

  • Beautiful!! very lovely!

    THANKS!

  • @MagicDonDino

Simon Barere, Vladimir Horowitz, Maria Grinberg, Vladimir Belov were Blumenfeld's pupils. There is an amazing record of Blumenfeld's etudes recorded by Vladimir Belov (Heinrich Neuhaus' assistant and Stanislav Neuhaus' first teacher)

  • very nice indeed

  • this...this is nice!

  • nice stuff ... and Yes, his left hand etude is still his best known work I believe for piano. < Barere's recording is unsurpassed in my opinion.
