America is a misdesigned piece of shit.Yes it is designed for cars and not people. Where are the sidewalks...the bike lanes? In most places they dont exist. We are working just to drive.Does that make sense?
I HATE SUBURBIA! How you describe SoCal is what Sydney in Australia is like. A huge sprawling city of only 2 million people that covers an area larger than London. Unless you live in the high density victorian inner suburbs you can't live without a car, unless you're prepared to get up at three in the morning to walk to work in time. Incidentally, I think Oz has the highest carbon footprint per person in the world, probably due to the lay-out of their cities and huge distances between places.
I'm not sure that calculator is entirely accurate, it says that I have higher emissions flying from Dublin to Paris than I do from Dublin to Wash DC. It also doesn't take dependents or co-dependents into the equation.
Who killed the electric car is a good documentary, I would recommend it. Electric cars were viable and carbon neutral. I'm from Ireland, I don't drive, I take public transport everywhere, but my footprint is still quite large.
I enjoyed the documentary but electric cars, to my knowledge, are not carbon neutral. Fossil fuels are still being burnt to produce the electricity to fuel the cars and to fuel the factories that produce the cars. Developing communities that encourage walking seems the smarter route.

My total was 4.1 tons of CO2. I forget what the break down was.

pretty good for someone living in a big city!
gratex 3 years ago
Well yeah considering I was at about 27.something in California. So I basically reduced it by 23 tons!

Wow , you evil polluter. Why don't you save the planet and kill yourself.

Yeah I question it's accuracy but it seems a decent place to start to get a grip on this.

I recall taking another one before and that wasn't nearly as specific, so yes it's probably ahead of the field.

yes, you're right. I should have said that they have no carbon emissions directly on a day to day basis. Indeed, I walk everywhere I can.

less than 5% of the world's population, using over 30% of the world's resources.
Excellent improvement, man.
