@chavez872 in this case you're wrong. This is a member of the predacious katydid family, and has sharp spines facing inward on the legs, to help secure live prey. Katydids are well-known for enjoying fresh meat. try touching your finger to a katydid's mouth gently. It will begin snacking on you, and will not jump away, even if you poke at it.
Awesome video. I never seen one live this big. Grasshoppers can devour anything if given the chance. It was just worn out from being held is all. Probably thought it was gonna die
Keep that thing away from me...I'll take a spider over an insect any day of the week...a spider is an individual...insects act in unison...we ought to be glad they're not any bigger than they are
@wishen4fishen2 I think you might be getting confused with the Giant Weta ( Largest Insect in the world ) which is native to NZ. He says he is in Israel in the description.
@angron666 Sorry buddy,my mistake for not taking the time to read the description.I'm just thinking what ever land those things are in,if they ever swarm in numbers they could seriously wipe out food crops.
i used to have this insect...till it got killed by a parasite (nevr found out what kind of parasite) he wuold eat almost anything a gave him, i gave him a piece a chicken (not big, small) he eats it within 1 min. i give him a maggot, its gone within 10 mins. and yes, just like in the vid he loves water, i put a little cup with water in it and he drank it allot so don;t think the person in this video is leing about it drinking the water when he just dumped alittle on it
OMG KILL IT! "..but,overall nothing ! I'm quite surprised considering what an impre..BLAH BLAH BLAH...JUST KILL IT! the fewer the better! All we need is some Jersey prick, dumping his black market, man eating, grasshopper which he feeds mice, to impress chicks, in the everglades on Spring break. Hey thats not a bad idea! They'll swarm & wipeout the PYTHON epidemic (also caused by idiotic/exotic pet owners) but, then they'll swarm on us like LOCUSTS W/FANGS!
Cool thank for posting and letting it go. its so easy learn live and care for. It the human thing. Show us what you find, show us your corner of the world and it might be that i get over my human phobia and see what i can show from this corner.

Hey dude yesterday I caught a baby crayfish that I saw was missing one of its claws and it seemed week and didn't swim when I came near it. So I took it home and put it in a 10 gallon with rocks and a filter and some fake plants, and I fed it a piece of banana and a piece of turkey, do you think I can save it? It seems to be eating fine.
@BollyWoodSuperFan Absolutely :) they are very hardy animals. I wouldn't keep feeding it bananas though. Just stick to things like lettuce, raw fish, live feeder fish, etc.
