  • thats a friggin MONSTER!

  • It's good to see a bug video here on youtube for once, where the bug isn't being senselessly killed.

  • why do i always end up in this part of youtube?

  • l'hai schiacciata troppo !!! ATTENTO o lasciala dove stava che sicuramente se la sarebbe cavata meglio

  • he went Noah on the bug.

  • Is it from the aphocalipse?

  • yeap, that's a zergling lester, a smaller type of zerg, but they usually don't get that far unless.......holly shit.

  • Give it water, you didnt have to give it the flood ;)

  • Thanks for posting! I appreciate you appreciating the life you held in your hand. :)

  • so did you kill it by handling it so much???

  • grasshoppers are not carnivores. in my area is larger. and more colorful ... red, blue, yellow, etc. ..

  • @chavez872 in this case you're wrong. This is a member of the predacious katydid family, and has sharp spines facing inward on the legs, to help secure live prey. Katydids are well-known for enjoying fresh meat. try touching your finger to a katydid's mouth gently. It will begin snacking on you, and will not jump away, even if you poke at it.

  • All ya need is some chocolate= awesome snack!

  • Awesome video. I never seen one live this big. Grasshoppers can devour anything if given the chance. It was just worn out from being held is all. Probably thought it was gonna die

  • I feel like I'm being pushed towards the weird part of youtube again..

  • must...not...itch...

  • OMG!!!! if i see this in my garden....

  • "Its not doing so well", lets try to make it better by pushing its head against wet concrete.

    Good video tho.

  • its part of the NWO watch out.

  • you sure it's carnivorous? just because it bites hard doesn't necessarily make it a carnivore. interesting stuff though..

  • Keep that thing away from me...I'll take a spider over an insect any day of the week...a spider is an individual...insects act in unison...we ought to be glad they're not any bigger than they are

  • My bearddragons would love to chow on that grasshopper

  • Awwwww it's cute

  • @melike44 ARE YOU MAD?

  • looks num nums

  • F-that

  • That's not a grasshopper that's a cave cricket

  • I had no idea this huge insect even existed, like a huge cricket,so this is only in NZ?

  • @wishen4fishen2 I think you might be getting confused with the Giant Weta ( Largest Insect in the world ) which is native to NZ. He says he is in Israel in the description.

  • @angron666 Sorry buddy,my mistake for not taking the time to read the description.I'm just thinking what ever land those things are in,if they ever swarm in numbers they could seriously wipe out food crops.

  • i used to have this insect...till it got killed by a parasite (nevr found out what kind of parasite) he wuold eat almost anything a gave him, i gave him a piece a chicken (not big, small) he eats it within 1 min. i give him a maggot, its gone within 10 mins. and yes, just like in the vid he loves water, i put a little cup with water in it and he drank it allot so don;t think the person in this video is leing about it drinking the water when he just dumped alittle on it

  • I dont like it

  • wow, i wonder if those were the type of grasshoppers god unleashed on egypt....lol....

  • If I saw someone step on it I would be mentally scared for life I hate bug guts...

  • eew.. ........

  • Im scared to sleep...

  • now hopefully a swarm of them will descend on israel and eat a bunch of zionist pigs.

  • This versus a fully grown praying mantis? Who'd you think will win? =]

  • how do i always end up on this side of youtube?

  • Jesus, that thing looks funny on its back, but man it's the size of a scorpion. o.o

  • OMG KILL IT! "..but,overall nothing ! I'm quite surprised considering what an impre..BLAH BLAH BLAH...JUST KILL IT! the fewer the better! All we need is some Jersey prick, dumping his black market, man eating, grasshopper which he feeds mice, to impress chicks, in the everglades on Spring break. Hey thats not a bad idea! They'll swarm & wipeout the PYTHON epidemic (also caused by idiotic/exotic pet owners) but, then they'll swarm on us like LOCUSTS W/FANGS!

  • The thing was obviously in bad condition.

  • im gonna show this to my teacher.

  • I like how you guys incorporate a warrior-like music into this.

  • I've been watching nature shows all my life, (I'm 54) and no where did they tell of a 'carniverous' grasshopper!!!!! So I think there's no such thing as a meat eating grasshopper.

  • @kdc43 Some species of katydids are carnivorous and will hunt other insects.

  • @Shadowblood66 So what does katydids have to do with grasshoppers? Two different topics.

  • it looks like an oversized mechanical toy when it walks around

  • Cool until your finger's eaten

  • lol lets give it some water

  • damn nature you scary

  • Thats a praying mantise

  • @SuperJg4567 no, it's a grasshopper

  • legs dont bite kid

  • isn't that a weta?

  • She's cool! I just wish she was healthier :(

  • Just think if these things attcked humans !! We'd be paranoid !!

  • HOLY SHIT!

I look at bugs all the time, but this fella is big! I wish I had one as a pet...

  • This katydid is "Saga Ephippigera"

  • @MarusDaniel Thank you, as you saw in the video, I also mention the latin name. ;)

  • @MarusDaniel we got katydid here in Georgia,, but nutten like that!!

  • This is in fact a cricket of the family tettigoniidae [Katydids] and looks to be part of the subfamily Saginae, which are predatory specialists. It is a female cricket at that, for the external ovipositor makes this clear. As for the other cricket characteristics; long antennas, ears under front knees, males 'wing on wing' stridulation are among other cricket indicators.

  • Very good, keep up the effort.

  • very cool bug! you can use a magnifying glass to shoot up close in video or photo mode. i use a cheap PAS camera with magnifying glasses and can take clear pictures and vid of stuff in the 1-3mm range :)

  • FUCK THAT!

  • When are you going to be back home in Canada?

  • that is the biggest grasshopper i have ever seen lol

  • @131chaze Agreed 100%!!! Believe me I felt the same way when I saw it!

  • @131chaze Ehh, come to the American south in the summer and I'll show you a real grasshopper...

  • are you sure its not a cricket???? giant cricket

  • @ultum4tegunz yup, although there is a chance it is more of a katydid type insect...

  • Wow!! One of the coolest insects I've seen.

  • @KawaiiKemonomimi it truly is amazing!

  • hey dude, do u think u can give me a shoutout? i dont mean to be rude and demanding its just i dont have any subscribers :( and only 15 views on my first video. so if u could just say my name in a video, that would make such a difference! thanks you so much! also, how is ur beardie doing?

  • did she make it? O:

  • @MofuReps donno, I certainly hope so :)

  • it's huge!

  • Hey dude yesterday I caught a baby crayfish that I saw was missing one of its claws and it seemed week and didn't swim when I came near it. So I took it home and put it in a 10 gallon with rocks and a filter and some fake plants, and I fed it a piece of banana and a piece of turkey, do you think I can save it? It seems to be eating fine.

  • @BollyWoodSuperFan Absolutely :) they are very hardy animals. I wouldn't keep feeding it bananas though. Just stick to things like lettuce, raw fish, live feeder fish, etc.

  • That's cool :D Its actually a species of Katydid of some sort. Am not sure about this specific species but am pretty sure its a Katydid. Katydids are mostly omnivorous by nature depending on what species it is just like crickets. Another notorious giant species of Katydid that i know about is the Giant Weta that's actually endemic to New Zealand :D Cool video there bud :D

  • BURN IT WITH FIRE!!

  • @dragonbrad98 That isn't nice :/

  • @Reptiliatus Yea, just don't pay attention to this sad person. People like that shouldn't wonder/stumble upon decent videos like yours. They should stick to watching indecent videos out there:D Millions of thanks again for your awesome video there bud :D And nice specimen :D
