Aussie accents, talking about the snowy mountains I can only assume they are in new south wales. As long as they are not fishing a closed season they have done nothing wrong. Trout in Oz are an introduced species and are regularly stocked, bag and size limits apply.
Weird I have never used rapala's for trout but I was looking at this cause I caught a big rainbow on a bomber and my dad got one on rapala just the other day while fishing a reservoir for bass.
