Gymnastics training is harsh... But, helloo, is one of the hardest sports! The little girl was not abused... Or at least no more then any gymnast is in any country... The coaches have to be firm and harsh... That is their job... As a matter of fact, the little girl got hugs... My daughter gets no hugs and she trains in Australia, not Romania...
i found it really mean that the coach said you gained weight :O! she is building up muscles and shes growing !!! of cause she will never be really really tiny and without muscles if she needs to work soo hard !!! . i mean its okey to be strict but at one point it should be enough and there was no need to say that she gained weight ! unbelievable how some coaches treat the kids without respect !
I am American and I didn't see it as abuse, she was firm but she also praised her and hugged her as well....there has to be balance and she does a fair job of achieving. it.
I've seen American coaches treat gymnasts like this too. It's not a cultural thing. It's part of the sport unfortuantly. The gymnast either learns from it, or doesn't.
Sorry for not joining the argument over where this is child abuse and whether Americans have no culture - I just wanted to say, ISN'T PITIC THE CUTEST THING YOU EVER SAW!
@beautifulsarah100 pitic is cute, but sooooooo needy for attention, she cannot stand a minute without being the star in the room- she can cry when needed and so on. A little more humble gymnast would learn more in early age.
@Rebeccabwfc It's ridiculous, isn't it? She calls the poor child names, laughs at her in front of everyone, accuses her of not being serious, berates her for not being perfect and then has the audacity to ask her why she's crying?!
@kayper54 actually you have no idea what she said...the translation is lost from one language to the other.
the coach sets the parameters and the path to get things accomplished and raises the voice when instructions are not followed.she doesn't abuse the girl verbally or physically.
you obviously fail at understanding the concept of performance and training athletes.there are many bad coaches(like the guy in the next parts of this doc) but this lady is great.
@Kamadeva01 Nonsense. As a mature adult and a mother, I recognize what that "great lady" is doing is verbal-abuse of a child. What YOU fail to recognize is what that "lady" doing is wrong, and cruel and unnecessary. In this country, that "great lady" would be reported and fired, which is exactly what she deserves. But like I said earlier, if medals are more important to you than the emotional well-being of your children, then you are welcome to all the medals you want. I know better than you do.
@kayper54 yes what do i know, i only speak her language and understand what she's saying;and you aren't the only parent so cut the high moral ground stance with me, i have two daughters: my oldest does tennis and my youngest is yet to actually do something else than burp.
as for medals, i don't give a s***, i don't even watch this sport... i do however admire them.
@Kamadeva01 No, I'm NOT going to "cut" the high moral ground stance! It's where I stand, and if YOU actually have children and do not stand on the same high moral ground I do then I pity your entire culture! I challenge you to get ON the high moral ground, close those appalling sports "schools" and bring up your children properly, without letting some coach do it for you and abuse them meanwhile! You may not care about medals, but your country certainly sacrifices many of its children for them!
@kayper54 pitty your own culture...oh wait, you have none, you're american...that being said, let's part ways i ain't in the mood to argue with "experts" on the intrawebz
@Kamadeva01 I don't care what you think of my culture or lack thereof. We don't need you to like or dislike us and I assure you none of value your opinion either way. I'm telling you to take charge and quit prostituting your poor country's precious children in some bizarre, pathetically misguided sense of athletic supremacy, as if that's all that matters in the world. The fact that you defend this abominable practice is just more reason to pity your ignorance of what is really important.
@kayper54 WRONG!I am romanian and I know what she said to child, translation is not perfect because are not equivalent words in english. She asked child why crying?Child said ''I am stramba-means a phisical defect, malformation, not nice body.Coach:no,you are not,you twist in wrong way your leg when put down! You can see clear how nicely treat coach that little girl like a mother, with affection!Where have you seen so tender coach? Now this girl already won in big cometition! You know that?
@unickgodess I'm pretty sure the translation was not done in complete accuracy but you just have to watch the coach's body language to know that she was teasing Pitic and she really is fond of her girls. The fact that her coach knew how to calm Pitic down and help correct her meant that there's a good balance. Coaching can't all be praise and nothing otherwise the child doesn't know how to differentiate.
@AndromedaAiken No, it shouldn't be all praise. But you also should not be mentally abusive or cruel. You can push a person without resorting to those methods. In the rest of the documentary she is clearly acting in this manner, as are the other coaches.
I don't know. If this is what we have to do to make our girls win more medals than their girls, well then, they're welcome to all the medals they want. I don't really want any part of this. Just not worth it.
Do deva have a trampline or pit
