  • The way people are pushing homo sexuality into this world and striving to make it acceptable... This is the most twisted, sickening and disturbing film I have ever seen. Good job, thanks for perverting this young boy.

  • at the beginning how did you get the camera to move that steady and from that height??

  • @topem97 it was a crane. We used a "phoenix crane"

  • It seems that every film with a scene depicting someone standing in front of a microphone has to have that annoying feedback sound?

    Why?

  • @ShotToPiecesDIGITAL Yes, that's true. And I decided to go with the flow, rather than not use that effect. I think it works in this film, and it creates that moment with the Mother. What do you think?

  • whats the point/ this is very agenda driven. what is he announced he was heterosexual?

  • @carbonpictures In my mind, the film would have the same meaning, if he announced he was hetero, but , it wouldn't have had the same effect overall, as a film.

  • I have no hatred towards anyone who is confused and thinks that they are attracted to the same sex, but it all comes down to one thing. Homosexuality is a sin. And for people to applaud this boy for being lost so early in his life is sad to the highest extent.

  • @Azula1001 yep. I totally agree

  • @Azula1001 exactly for people like you this video was made.

  • @Azula1001 hey Azula, it's actually just not true. There are no sins. It's a human fabrication. Go ahead and enjoy life!!

  • @Azula1001 But what if they are not applauding him for begin a homo.? What if they are applauding him for figuring out part who he is . Although at such a young age it may change. I think they are not applauding the sin but they are just accepting him as he chooses to be. Aren't Christians (or other religions that believe that homo. is a sin) believe that you should accept others and not question their choices. For you want people to accept yours even the choice to believe what you just wrote?

  • @Asianaddict16 I see what you're saying, but accepting and applauding are two different things. I have homosexual friends. I treat them like all of my other friends, but I let them know my opinion about homosexuality and I accept that sometimes people may need time to figure out who they are. But I let my homo friends know that I do not applaud/support their behaviour or the choices they make. In this video, they are clearly celebrating (by clapping and applauding) his decision.

  • @Azula1001 I agree, homosexuality is a sin, just as many other things. And I also have no hatred towards anyone who is confused about being attracted to people of the opposite sex.

  • Listen, gays should be treated just like average people, because they ARE average people. They shouldent be rewarded for it nor should they be made fun of for it. Just because someone is gay dosnt change the fact that they just as normal as straight people.

  • 240p? If this won a Teddy at the Berlin Festival, then I can win an Oscar with a Kodak. Amateurs..

  • @inquiringmind93 hey , this film was made in 2002!

  • The framing is exquisite! :)

  • @pghdt or possibly troll since Christians are the least "rational" of all

  • @pghdt bigot

  • Honest'y not very good. a 3 minute lead up of overly drawn out camera work for a 6 year old to say one line. I don't even care if its about homosexuality. They have the same rights to be miserable as straight people do. But you can't just build a film around one single line.

  • @RubicksHD "But you can't just build a film around one single line", that's what u said, so u must think Chaplin's movies so senseless.

  • poor lighting, shaky camera, terrible follow through, forever running credit, no plot, there's nothing worse than a director cashing on political correctness. I'd give a thumbs up if he said "I am Lenin"at least that would be more original.

  • Something's not right...

  • huh?

  • why would we rational beings support irrational concepts of homosexuality that can cause problems in society? God created Adam and EVe, not Adam and Steve!!!, perhaps the jurors of the contest were all gay! God loves you, but you must cleanse yourselves from all filthiness because it is sin that separates you from your God!!!!

  • @pghdt ignorance

  • I am... wondering how this piece of shit ever won a contest.

  • What no cake?

  • ha very bad

  • this is great! what was the budget for it? nice music as well!

  • Strangest short film I have ever seen in my life.

  • I'm sorry, but I don't completely get this... could someone explain?

  • FOR AWESOME SHORT FILMS VISIT FREJIBLE123's CHANNEL

  • There is a rare simplicity in this short story. i like it. yet as ideas go, i think this one can and would probably be better suited to a full length movie. For a first movie this is fantastic. looking forward to your next few.

  • it was so terrible

  • LOL i was waiting for another guy in the audience to yell out that he was also a homosexual..lmfao then it would have border lined just being wrong..

  • The good book says that two men making love is a sin. Being gay is ok but the act of it is sinful and is a challenge that not all people can overcome. God has a plan for everyone just not everyone wants to see it. For those who don't want to see his master plan you will not get to be intimate with the holy Lord. For that i am sorry for you. I don't have a problem with gays. I don't hate them. I just think its sinful. As is not being abstinent. Good day.

  • I'm not sure this can be called a film to be honest. And there is no real emotional connection between the viewer and the characters. I don't know... I think it was a good try at trying to bring a message to people but ultimately falls short of the mark. I was pretty disappointed with how little story there really is. I must say I agree with @eldusto84 on this. Good try though.

  • No offense Mr. Stedman, but I can't believe that something like this actually made it into festivals. Out of a 5-minute runtime, 2 full minutes are credits. There's no story, no substance, no real technical skill at all. Basically, a little kid gets on a podium and announces he's gay. And that's it. I should make a short about a Hispanic lesbian who has cerebral palsy. I guarantee it will win an Oscar.

  • @eldusto84 if you see the annotations you'll see this was the first film I ever made, and, yes, the credits are embarrassingly slow ... As far as the message goes, my hope is that it made you reflect on the ways our society asks us to define and label ourselves. I don't understand your comment about winning an Oscar.

  • STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Zakhaev73 why do you think so?

  • @danielouistedman good work. poor kid though lol

  • @Zakhaev73 really stupid

  • @Zakhaev73 I think you should answer his question. Or make a better movie.

  • What music did you use? It's pretty.

  • @ZoeSquared21 it's a great original score by Chris Decato. Thanks!

  • It was fucking funny! =)

I mean it sounded really stupid when he said it.

    by the fact that he

    1) is too small to understand what it is leading to the fact that he was influenced by his mother to think so (WTF?)

    2) the applauses (holy crap)

I like the phrase - whatever you think of yourself to be (good or bad) - you are. It is not to say that any sexuality is bad - it just is, but what do we choose to do with it, to put labels on ourselves or to make some changes as we see fit? (we can)

  • nice short film, the music is too gay, =]

  • @camashowill ha, that's funny!

  • Ultimately, the film is about acceptance of self by self and by others.

  • "Alex, it's time to come out!" lol

  • ıf a little boy say ' ı am homosexual.' nobody believe him.Its changeble for his age. Some boys playing with badby dolls when they are a child. But its not mean he will be a homosexual.I was expected a very shocking end.

  • Short thinking, no deep idea : (

    CRAP

  • i didnt get anything...what is the concept man??

  • i didnt get anything...what is the concept man?? H

  • hey nice job....could you recommend me to any sites or artists that produce "film" music.....you know or sound effect...thank you in advance

  • faking gay

  • @ChristianHiz I'm pretty sure what you mean is f**king gay

  • nice work......on which camera u shot this video??

  • @amythhster It was shot on Super16mm with an Aaton. I can't remember the film stock. And it was blown up to 35mm in Montreal. The crane was a Phoenix crane.

  • @michelle341975 I thought this was a really thoughtful comment. I'm sorry it disappeared.

  • hes gay

  • @dj56478 this is funny!

  • how can you not get this movie? it shows the moral superiority of the white man in accepting and tolerating 'alternative' ways of behaviour, which niggers, yellow people or slavic people cannot. it shows that we are inherently the better human beings, because god has selected us to be this way (look at the history: it ain't the niggers who colonized us, we did it with them, because we knew how to do it)

  • this is very wrong...

  • wat?

  • God praise the white man for not discriminating on sexual preferences!

  • Brilliant, well done! Clever use of the child.

  • huh?

  • wtf they said like 2 things and it ended

  • @dj56478 u just dont get it do u ?

  • nice film !!

  • this film is gay

  • Well, I see what you're trying to say here, but can anyone elucidate on the significance of the child ?

Having a child "come out" seemed a little, selfish, Or perhaps, I'm missing something?

  • @diablocrest

it's not the child that is coming out its the symbol of the child...Unless I misunderstand and the director is truly a sick bastard lol, I think he is trying to portray the innocence of ones own identity. So it's not truly the child here that is saying he is gay, its the symbol of the whole idea of identity and of self worth and that one has very little control over who is truly his inside.

  • @KSmoothSaxG This is really thoughtful. Yes, it is certainly about the innocence about one's identity. Thank you for the comment.

  • Thanks for the comments, it's nice to see some dialogue around the meaning of this. No one is wrong :) Cheers! ~ Daniel

  • that was a horible contrived movie

  • Natural sound would have been great - the scoring was a bit distracting

  • leave something behind wall . dont open every thing in society . there are many more thing beyond it

  • it was all credits!!!! I really get annoyed by these!

  • what a load of crap!

  • this is not art... half the film was credits. more than half. well, maybe it is art.... but then again, so is trash in the street.

  • winner? hmm... nothing worthy

  • crap.

  • That was cute, heh. You know, I realized that I was gay when I was quite young as well... though, I didn't know what gay, or straight, or even bi was. I just knew.

  • i never get these things, but im thinkin BloodThirstyScott1 is right probably...

but awwe i dont really get it but it was cute

  • Ok, I think their saying that being gay isn't something that is like an accomplishment. See how silly he looked announcing his sexuality, the entire audience cheered for him. He is saying that it is part of him, and it's not something to have an event for. It shouldn't be celebrated OR taken in a negative light. It just is. I think it's funny that in the beginning his mom says "Alex, it's time to come out". It could mean that, but I am not sure.

  • @BloodThirstyScott1 you fucking genius. ive been trying to tell myself that for years! :)

  • me 2

  • i dont get it at all.

  • it's about the struggle to find your identity in a society that expects that you will put a label on your identity, and then they judge you critically for your decision

  • @sorvoloriddle I really like this comment a lot. This is exactly how I feel about the film I made. Thank you!

  • @danielouistedman Thank you! <3

  • @sorvoloriddle Yes. I like to let people have their own interpretations of the film. This comment exactly matches my own.

  • @sorvoloriddle This is soooo stupid. . .

  • @sorvoloriddle the problem with homosexuals. . . is that THEY THINK THEY ARE CORRECT. . . and they think they are doing properly and they are "NORMAL" as others. First becuase they are disrespecting their own body with unnatural desires. . . second they are in someway cheating what they trully are, if you are a man you are not woman and vice versa.

  • @rubendrakkar seriously, you are extremely sick. Who do you think you are to tell others what's normal or right? sorry to burst your bubble of ignorance, but there's no such a thing as "normal". Wake up buddy, you don't know the world you live in. Live and let live.

  • @sorvoloriddle well friend this is easy on the bible it says: Romans 1:26-32, "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." and I am the one who is sick. . .

  • @rubendrakkar first, you're not my friend. I don't have homophobes as friends ;) Second, yes, you are the one terribly sick, stop caring about who is everybody sleeping with and mind your own business. You are an ignorant and a slave. Sorry, but I don't let anyone tell me what to do and even less a sci-fi book. Watch this video v=P4dSiHqpULk

  • @rubendrakkar Quote " first, you're not my friend." This is TRUE. "I don't have homophobes as friends" I don't care. "stop caring about who is everybody sleeping with and mind your own business." WE ARE LIVING IN COMMUNITY. . . I DO CARE ABOUT MYSELF AND MY ENVIRONMENT. . . IDIOT. "You are an ignorant and a slave" you are the one going with TV and ADVERTISING BULLCRAP. " even less a sci-fi book" You clearly don´t know about what sci-fi means, plus the bible is not sci-fi. Cheers
