    Bill

  • Bill, thanks for taking the mystery out of rust repair for me! Lori :)

  • i feel its your car, And you should do the work that best suits you, and they way you know how to do it! 1 it keeps you busy, 2 its fun to do, 3 you can only get better. Nice job, please post more videos, i would love to see the outcome of how the bondo sanding and all turned out. one last thing though, if you use fiberglass cloth, DONT LET IT HARDEN 100%! itll be a pain sanding!

  • very smart

  • Great solution, the type i could try as well.

  • Looking forward to part Five Bill !! Really enjoyed these Video's..Thanks..From Trudy 388 UK.

  • @Trudy388 , Hi Trudy, Well I don't think there will be a part 5, but there will be another series of body repair videos after the other issues are taken care of.

  • you doing some real neat work stick with it good job

  • @dinnycash Thanks Dinny

  • looks fine, please show the bondo work.

enjoy that cup of coffee !

  • @MrOne2watch, I may put the bondo part on a video after I get the rear spring shackle mounts replaced.

  • Good work regardless of as you call it "poor boy body work".

You my friend are a craftsman.

If you had tig welder,brake,bender,$100,000 shop to work in you could go that route I am sure.

Your way on this video works.

    Travis

  • @tb40ford, Thanks Travis, Yea if I had a nice shop and the equipment I could do better, not pro, but better.

  • Good video.Do not stop now..

  • @RAYGproductions Thanks Ray, No I have lots of work to do, I am at the mercy of the weather, time, money.

I have to get the bondoglass, I was told that is better but before all that I have to get the rear spring shackle mounts replaced.

    momey, money, money....LOL

  • Wow, that is some tough work. You are a better man than I. I've enjoyed the whole series. Thanks for taking the time to video!

  • @SlackJones1, Hi Burton, Thank You very much, well I doubt if I am a better man, I just have been doing this half ass work since 1966 when I had my 50' Studebaker.

    Thas again Burton for watching.

    Bill

  • You'll get 'er looking good!

  • @JeffN727 Thanks Jeff

  • i have used duraglass, or bondoglass on the areas where water would seem to get, like seams and so forth. then i put regular bondo over the top. if you are not familiar with bondoglass, it,s got strands of fibregrass in the bondo, and is more waterproof, and lasts longer. it also costs a little more, but not too much... good job on the metal work,,,,,,dick

  • @thunderroadtrucks Hi Dick, I will get some of that, Thanks for that information.

Also thanks for the nice comment.

    Bill

  • Bill,

One more comment. Have you ever used fiberglass cloth and resin instead of bondo to go over newly added sheet metal? It's so much easier. Sands and paints well. Lasts a long time. Strong. Takes to all the contours of the new metal. Comes as a kit in a can. Extra sheets of fiberglass cloth can be purchased as needed. If you've never used it, search Youtube for this title:

Bondo: Working With Fiberglass Mat & Resin

    Regards,

    John

  • @joernone Hi John, I have not tried that, never worked with it.

  • Bill,

Great video and great fabrication under the van. It looks great. Can't wait to see the finished product.

  • @ncautoman57, Thanks I will be posting the finished project, but that will take awhile.

  • Bill,

You can't stop now. Your loyal fans clamour for more. Bondo!...bondo!...bondo!

    Regards,

    John

  • @joernone, Hi John, Well I may just keep going, but it be awhile because I need to get those rear spring shackle mounts replaced.

I gave my machinic the info. as to where he can get the parts.

That is NOT a job I can do.

When that job is done, I hope to continue on the body work.

    Thanks for watching.

    Bill

  • Hello again Bill, you are doing a great job, really enjoyed watching. Thanks so much for sharing your great videos, have a great week. Jerry

  • @jc6154, Hi Jerry, Thank You very much, you have a great week also.

    Thankss again.

    Bill

  • I used bondo on some of our garden pond decroations (like that fiberglass or cement stuff (bird baths, fountains etc). That stuff gets weathered, and often cracks from the winter and ice. You sure have to work FAST with bondo.

  • @umajunkcollector, Yes I know bondo sets up fast, of course I used a lot of hardner.
