  • Great job! I also have made my own art video and vocal mix.. feel free to check it out!!! love and light from one artist to another!

  • i cried. every time i watched this.

  • this video is perfect and you are a genius

  • incredible

  • i think the moral here is to paint and paint and keep painting til you are happy with it! sometimes you can expand on those ''happy lil mistakes'' and turn them into something better than what you visualised in your head to start with.

but if you have an image in your head you will eventually be able to get it out in your art.....its true, practice makes perfect!

nice job mate...thanx 4 tha video ay!

  • i think this is my all time favorite painting...by anyone...

  • I loved how it changed and changed. it was soo simbolic. or maybe I just read to much into things it was beautiful. Did anyone else notice that the blobs of paint became tulips than pansies. sorry I just saw the roots vid. I thought it was very good in an informitive omg I had no idea way

  • I love how many layers there are in this painting, it really inspires me to paint more. I like the little things you add to your paintings, and how you make a vast array of colors work without clashing. Genius. :D

  • i love the way you paint....how you paint is how i see things in my head....but my paintings never come out how i want them too...i still like them....but i want my ideas to come out exactly the way i see them...

i just need more practice i think

  • thanks. My paintings never come out how I plan.. though to be fair I don't really plan them.. I usually just have a starting point and keep working till I'm happy with it!

  • i think that goes for all the artists i know, and know about..

my friends stuff never turns out like he plans it to...

i suppose if you were painting a still life it would turn out how you wanted because...you have the idea right there...you just have to do it...

but who ever wants to do still lifes...

that was the worst thing about art school...fucking still lifes...my teacher never let me play...lol

  • I used to say EXACTLY what you said about wanting your paintings to come out the way you can see them in your head. It took a long time but now I CAN draw and paint anything i can see in my head or anything real that anybody else can see also. I had to live, eat, sleep, drink, and otherwise constantly think about and above all intelligently PRACTICE my art. It came to me in steps, sometimes baby steps and sometimes leaps and bounds. If you are determined you CAN do it!

  • Absolutely inspiring.Thank you for making my day

  • Simply beautiful.

  • Wonderful Wonderful :)

  • this is beautiful! (i'm totally going through and watching all you your videos whenever i can - not often i need a stable internet connection) this made go off on a rant (bad word choice) about religion and philosophy in my head (made me wish i had video camera so i could vlog!) you are so inspiring, you make me want to start to actually pursue my own creativity again! pretty awesome! keep rocking the art (haha) love from chicago!!!!

  • ah thanks Tina, that means a lot. You should totally get back into creating again, and check out tailcast, there's a really supportive creative community there!

    cheers :D

  • amazing

    relamente-hermoso

    asi-pintare-mi-cuarto

    jaja

  • i love how you showed the entire process from start to finish. it really helps with working out how to manage the layers when painting. i got my degree through sculpture and ive never been much good at painting but i think this vid will help me understand the process better. plus i love your style, i might have to copy a few of your paintings for practice! :)

  • I love watching your art come to life!

    it's so inspiring

  • My breath was taken. Simply amazing

  • it gives me the creeps.

    i see a atom explosion

in the back and a dead

    skined body infront.

    but i think, whatever

it is, you did a great

    job. 5 stars from me!

maybe i watched too much "heroes"

    and terminator movies =)

    bye

  • I really loved watching this develop. I usually feel like your art changes a lot in the process, but this one in particular I felt the meaning changed a thousand times before it came to a pause. The perspective was quite excellent, some of the close-ups towards the end I forgot I was looking at a 2D painting.

  • BUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Man this is awesome. I just started painting about two months ago with oil's. I'm having trouble making the colors flow the way I would like. This is definitely great inspiration for me to keep on trying

  • I find oils challenging to paint with, a they take so long to dry and mix on the canvas often making a brown splurge.. I'd recommend having a go with acrylics, they are much more vibrant and easier to control.. Oh, and be sure to check out tailcast :D

  • Thanks, will do.

  • I love your art. I miss seeing your paintings. I know you did onw on tailcast last time. I still love this one, I had actually bid on it, but i forgot to check it out before the end, and was outbid by just a pound. Anyways, the man who won it was happy, and I can always see it here.

  • Hey, awesome art!

  • i was... blown away.

    amazing.

  • thank you very much!

    And thanks for subscribing :D

  • perfect!

  • p.s It's beatiful btw :D

  • Wow u hardly seem to stop!!

Or is it just the speed up thing... lol

When I'm painting I seem to spend more time staring at it and making faces than actually painting... THAT's why I take forever :D

    x

  • lol, I usually keep at it, but i do take breaks.. i think it exaggerates it being sped up. thank you :)

  • Love it!!, its a masterpiece, Lucky Joern.

  • thank you :)

  • thats terrible.....

oh w8 its clearly amazing, nice pic dude

  • beautiful!

  • it's amazing! you're a really artist

  • wow, it's just amazing

  • Have you read Jung's work on the Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious? You have several interesting forms in there. The central Mandala form of a solar nature (which in many traditions is masculine) and the figure off to the left resembles a fetus in the womb, so I naturally thought of the Great Mother Archetype. There the sun (the Great Father Spirit) illuminates the landscape of greens (a color of renewal and beginnings) whose body is that of Gaia, whose body is everything of this earth.

  • I haven't read that, no.. people have read interesting things into my art before..

  • you are a very talented and creative artist! Smiles :)

  • beautiful...

  • What's the music for this video? It's amazing.

    i love you! hehe

  • gosh that is nice... i sure do miss painting, i haven't painted a thing for almost 3years now...

  • i dare you to do a painting. In fact, it's not a dare. I urge you. :)

  • wow! ur great, excellent work! amazing painting..so cool to watch u create it!

  • Awesome painting but the white cord should've stayed on it that was the coolest idea.

  • You win.

  • Makes me wish I had done more art when I was younger.... But then again, maybe I will take after Grandma Moses. Only, since I never had any kids, I guess I will be Auntie Moses.

  • i was sitting watching this thinking, it's gonna be this, then this, and the finish is way different than you think it's gonna be! It's awesome! Hope by the end of my art GCSE I can paint nearly as well as you lol : ) keep it up!

  • starts off bad, but becomes absolutely brilliant!

  • that's amazing, i really love it. suprisingly i've never realy thought about using pen to add detail in a painting, i'm guna try it (you may have gotten me more marks in my art GCSE thank you!!!) this is the second video of urs i'v watched and i'm already subscribing! so keep adding videos! :D

  • I love watching you work Paul. Do you ever explain your inspirations? What is behind this painting? Or do you prefer the viewer to draw their own conclusions?

    dunielle

  • generally I like the viewer to interpret them for themselves. It holds a meaning to me of course, but usually one I realise in hindsight. Also, I find others can point out things that I hadn't thought of.

    Call it therapy.

  • i completely understand. I sometimes like to explain the meaning behind what I paint because then it takes on a new life for the viewer. I do like to hear what people say about my work though.

  • very nice! the music fit well also...

thanks for sharing! keep it up! youtube needs an art channel!

    raeart

  • Thanks a lot raeart :)

I completely agree! Youtube needs it as much as we do :)

    Cheers!

  • Beautiful and powerful artwork, Paul =) And I really enjoy getting to see the details of how it is made and the layers upon layers. Good music choice too ;)

  • I've watched this about 4 times. Its mesmerizing =P

  • Thank you very much!

Whilst you're here, you may as well make it 5 :)

    lol

  • This is my favourite video from you in 2nd position- pretty cool!

  • this is amazing, why would you sell it?!

  • Thanks Ashlee :)

I wanted to do it as an experiment, as ultimately I want to sustain myself as a full time artist/animator/creative.. It was useful in that sense.. I do kinda miss it though! lol, at least I have the video!

    cheers :)

  • that was insanely cool!

  • Thanks a lot nessie! :)

  • wow i wish i was half as good as you at painting and making videos. i've always wanted to know how to make the videos look as if they are a million pictures.

  • Thanks a lot! Well, if you really want to learn, all it involves is practice.. I mean, I feel I have a lot of room for improvement. I suggest borrowing a camera and doing a make art video! dare ya.

  • Thanks a lot! Well, if you really want to learn, all it involves is practice.. I mean, I feel I have a lot of room for improvement. I suggest borrowing a camera and doing a make art video! dare ya.

  • wonderful ptg...and great music, where's the music from?

  • nice painting, man!

  • Very cool oh is it too late to submit a "make art vid"? Like this, it's nice to sell work..Nice tune, and I like how you show the detail.

  • great job man!

  • haha you were spinning the plate very nice job it looks lovely.

  • Your amazing!!!

  • I love to watch artists create. Thanks for posting this.

  • What kind of camera do you use? Do you have specific editing software you recommend? Thanks-this is lovely.

  • I use a jvc camera off of ebay. £85. It now only works as direct capture. I used premiere for this though have to use imovie now because i upgraded to leopard. Check willvideoforfood dot com for better advice. Nalts' blog.

    Peace

  • that was amazing. I've never watched any of your videos, I think I'll be starting.

  • I think the music and the painting really work great together. by the way, did you ever get my message?

  • Hey Devon! thanks a lot hun, I did get your message, I thought I replied but perhaps it got lost in youtube message land, or perhaps I didn't reply.. hmm, I'll go look.. hope you're well :)

  • i remember the original post of this.. . it was the first vid of yours i saw!! i loved watching it go forward following the arrow of time so cautiously - compounding the entropy of the system with each passing stroke

    LOVED IT

  • AMAZING!!!your a fanatastic artist

  • You have painted a new life for me... colors are dancing in my head. Sending love. Sending my love for your art. Sending life for new paint. hm?

  • thank you :)

  • Some people do not need drugs to picture something great. Such a person is the true artist. Yet i also have a narrow view of what good art is. Sorry Cheekychen. :(

    Nevertheless keep it up!

  • I agree. And thanks for your honesty! What kind of thing are you into?

  • How much acid have you actuallty taken ? Great stuff....you have some talent...of

course aRT should be a category

  • none, zilch, nada, nothing. ever.

    thank you :)

    And yes, it should!

  • nada uhmmm!? hablas español!?

  • nada uhmmm!? hablas español!?

  • Fascinating how you create order out of chaos, and employ color so well! I hope the fetus meets a more hospitable world! :) Jack

  • Thank you Jack :)

I hope it does too! cheers buddy

  • Meet your new subscriber : ) I love all the colors in this, and I love what you did at the end with the marker. Great!

  • thank you and welcome :)

  • one again

    you've got mad skills!

    =cD

  • cheers Mr Blue :)

  • Mad skills is right!

  • Yes, I get the meaning, you're a thinker like me. I wish all of the world had such balance:)

  • that is one of the coolest banners ive seen. great painting!

  • thank you very much indeed!!

  • Why the fetus, any meaning or just random? I should do a video of me sewing clothing for your 'art' cause. I really think Y/T should include art as a category. Sewing is art, also, because it starts with a piece of fabric and turns into a finished project that can be worn or used in home decor. I'm so shy at first, never did a video before.

  • I would love to see you do a landscape with mountains, ocean, grasslands, fir trees, clouds in your 70's theme. Excuse me, I'm having a vision right now. (By the way, eBay is grand isn't it)?

  • Hey, Thanks for your comments!

The painting is inspired by the relationship between nature and life. How we interact with nature, often without even noticing we're doing it. It's a celebration of balance, which is what I was trying to create.

I'd love to see the sewing!! really would :)

  • cool!

  • Terrific, just amazing.

  • HORRIBLE!!! Just absolutely DREADFUL.

I am the only one that will give you the TRUTH.

  • Sweet, nicely done mate, it's like im looking into a mirror.....lol

  • thanks dude. where's the mirror pointing?! lol

  • At me,and first thing in the morning, Oh god, i look like i've had a stroke xD haha

  • A true favorite of mine.. Erm, can I ask how long I've got left with the Make Art thing?

  • at least a week, as I'll make a video with one week to go! thanks :))

  • I kept thinking,... I wanna do that! (paint). Did you have the end result in mind from the beginning? The background music was perfect - lowered my bp I think? Thanks!

    back briefly from doing 'things'.

  • Do it!!! why not participate in my make art collab in that case?!

    what's bp?! :)

  • blood pressure.

  • oh, lol.. that's good!!! :))

  • blood pressure.

  • Why did I send that twice? Why did I check it twice??? lol.

  • Wow, there is a deep side to Mr. Cheekychen! Loved it!

  • wooow.... wow i'm amazed. i would have so much fun as an artist... painting pictures like that. dude. you rock. i don't even have words to describe how great that piece of work was (and i'm a wordsmith). 5 stars.

  • amazing

  • This vid is quite different from your others. I love seeing all the creative sides of Cheeky.

  • thanks Elphy! I hope you and bubba are well :)

  • Nearly Magical. I haven't mixed media since high school. I stubbornly stay "in the box", so it seems, when it comes to thinking about my media. :-)

Wait a sec... unless you count that in addition to standard artist grade acrylic I use the occasional house paint too. LOL

  • Thank you sir :)

  • umm... i already commented on this so i don't feel i need to again...

    ...

    ...

damn it i just commented didn't i?! lol.

sick as always... do another painting!!

  • oh and... it's pronounced blog as in buh-lawg not nah-vuhl. lol.

    j/k!

  • sorry billski, what's nah-vuhl. too early to comprehend :P

  • lol, novel.

  • lmao! yeah... it's an epic first post, lol.. I couldn't stop once I started! I need to learn the ways.. like how to ubscribe to peeps' blogs.. where's yours gone fella?

  • i cant believe i just found you - i absolutely love your art.

i love how paintings always look like shit initially but end up gorgeous

    xx

  • thanks nerd! welcome :)

  • Nice painting.

  • I'm so glad you reposted this, Paul, if only because I hadn't looked at it in a while, and I was curious to see what, if anything, had changed. I was glad you kept the same music. I think I will always associate that theme with this piece. I'm also glad it went to a good home: Chez Jørn! ;^D

  • Cheers Steve! I'm glad you're glad :)

I was planning on changing the music to musicfromblueskies' sac vs pip.. It turns out I didn't. lol, maybe I'll use it in another one..

    hope you're good!
