The easiest way for me to defeat Dark Link is to wait that he jumps on my sword. After he jumps back and lands, you just have to jump attack him and it hits. I don't know about others, but for me that works better than the other tricks, and you only have to use the sword.

I killed Dark Link in less than 10 seconds (swear), with the Biggoron's sword.

It's twice as strong as the master sword, meaning 4x stronger than the Kokori sword lol. Dark Link only has the shield and master sword while you have the Biggoron's sword, so if you just doing the stab attack (the sword is too big; he won't jump on it) it's an instant hit. I don't remember how many hits it took, but only about 4-5 i think.

But yeah, just saying incase you want to try. :p

I don't see how people have trouble with this fight. All you need is a melee weapon that can't be copied (aka. Biggoron sword or megaton hammer) and you're set.

So you have to clash swords first, THEN do the hammer? 'Cause all the walkthroughs I read said to use the hammer, so that's what I did. I'm frustrated that they didn't mention making sure his sword was out.

You know how to make this EVEN easier?

Go through the game with just three heart containers. Swing the master sword and try and make the two Links hit each other, then swing a hammer. Every time Dark Link comes back up, he'll keep walking towards you so swinging again won't trigger a back flip or block. And since you have just three heart containers, hitting him three times will kill him, making the battle not even 20 seconds long.

Sometimes if you try to fight him by other means first then try the hammer, dark link will keep blocking it. So i got killed first, then i went back and did it right in the beginning and it worked.

If you have the biggoron sword all you have to do is stab. You win. :) He doesn't jump up on it or anything. But this hammer works just as well.

@Valientlink From what I've experienced I think the Gamecube version runs slightly faster/smoother than the N64 (of course that may just be a fault in my memory) so the timing (if there is timing involved) might be a bit more challenging, granted though I haven't tried this myself so I honestly don't know.

I do plan to try this out the next time I play because it will be hilarious.

@Unclevertitle The gamecube version runs slower in some places, but faster in most. The dark link battle doesn't lag in either versions and both games run the same, really. The GCN version runs at a higher resolution which makes it appear to run smoother. But if you got a rom of the N64 game, it would appear to be just as smooth as the gamecube version, due to it running at doubled resolution, basically.

Not everyone has the biggoron sword at this point. And those who would rather wait till later to get it, would most likely have the hammer because they beat the fire temple already.

I did this on pc and beat him with the megaton hammer easily like you can here. I try this on the wii and he's IMPOSSIBLE to beat! I BARELY got him..seriously! I tried the hammer and the bugger kept jumping, blocking it was bs..i tried sword and hammer gosh...also, it's total bs that they switched the fire temple music on the wii version of oot. If you buy it for wii, you'll be disappointed..doesn't have the chant and it's not even master quest...that was crap..but thanks for the video.

I dunno if It's cause I'm playin this on an emulator on my computer or what but this fuckin guy blocks EVERYTHING Like I mean sword, hammer, he some how rolls out of a bomb, everything. And To whoever said about playing the sun song I played that right in his face and nothing happend. He actually ended up slashing me right afterwards. The only way I managed to hit him was with dins fire or the odd time after eating like 4 slashes just goin right at him I can usually hit him once.
