@ThatPianoGuy1313 What's gaming month? Also I end up falling flat on my face in huge maps and long games, at that point its "Mass capital ships. *sends them off to the enemy* FUCK IT! *queue rock music*"
it dosnt matter the size of your fleet if you have a few squadrons of fighters and bomers and the other guy dosnt you will win if he has THEM AND YOU DONT YOUR SCREWED BELEIVE ME I LEARNED THE HARD WAY
This game looks like so much effort over so much time- I'm a do A few levels here go out do another few levels next day b4 football. This I believe if I got into it I'd pop on for 30mins and not got very far... Am I right? Good review though
99% of all Sins players don't realize that Sins is even better in online multiplayer against human opponents ("the real Sins game"). The AI does some pretty silly and suicidal things, so isn't a very good opponent.
Team games, 4v4 and 5v5, with all human players are much more challenging, more intense, more suspenseful, more interesting, more strategically involved, more satisfying, and more fun.
So, if you have the Diplomacy expansion, definitely log onto Ironclad Online and check it out.
The only thing wrong with this review is that you stated that "there is no unfolding story to speak off", well, in reality, there is. You can go on the Ironclad website and read up the race histories to find out what is going on now and what stage they are in. I think they are keeping it mysterious for the third and final installment due hopefully sooner than later. Nonetheless, perfect review.
amazing review!!!!! i dont think you made a single mistake when speaking or ever forgot what to say. i have a question: would i be the person to like this game if i like resource managment and actual strategy? but anyway, looking at all the videos it looks like a good game. and you already recommended it. but is it true that it gets boring fast? i dont have enough money to buy a game and play it for a few weeks, i need one i will play for a while. thank you!!!
@srry4beatinu - Personally, I really like it and go back to it time and again. There's many ways of winning too, especially if you include both add ons so strategy is very important - if you get "Sins of a Solar Empire Trinity" you get the game and both add ons in the same box. You can get this for £10 at Amazon so certainly worth a look. Resource management does play a part in the game so you'll probably like it.
@S0nicH i got it its amazing i also had Civ 4 before this and this reminds me of it i think of this as the era that Civ 4 forgot to add where you take over your home world and go to other worlds to take
@Silfverr - That's a tough question as they're both very good. I think Sins *just* noses it if I had to choose, but I love them both, but I do see them as slightly different styles of game.
@falloutgodTeutonicL - Yep. Dimplomacy is pretty good, although very complex. It adds a lot more freedom with respect to doing missions and tasks for other factions. And you can now win by making friends (even if it's more fun to destroy them!)
@falloutgodTeutonicL - yes, it's similar in the way that you access the add on. I think you need Entrenchment to run Diplomacy, but it's installed in the same way. You can either run it from its own executable like Entrenchment or run it from the main game menu.
When I got this game I had an average PC from 2002 so I played it at about 15 frames. I recently upgraded (took a while eh?) and might find the disk the minute I finish Half-Life 2.
nice review its a good game. it can kinda get boring a few weeks later. specially when you start owning hardest A.I difficulty. Also once you are in a upper hand with most planets and such. it gets boring and brings me no reason to finish the game, knowing it would be impossible for the A.I to come back and win the game
Totally worth it, it adds so much to the game! It's download only as far as I know available through Impulse. It's only about £8 or something so well worth the money.
LOL. Thanks :) You should try it, it's not like C&C - there's a lot more to it than just strategy and it'll run on most systems, the graphics are very scalable.
Great review dude :)

My friend told me about this game, and I played it on his computer for a few minutes.
I fell flat on my face, not knowing what the hell to do :P
However, it looks quite fun. It's a shame that it's Gaming Month now -- there are too many other games to buy.

I disagree on the AI because it exploits your weakness and it definately retreats... annoyingly so. Phase jump inhibitors are a must.

@Fabregasgunner4 - it's certainly not a "quick" game, but you can customise the maps to suit how much time you want to spend (to a point).
