Bro that's a sick brewerton looks tight in that cave. I dig as well but on the hudson river in upstate newyork. Never had a chance to get in a cave but I will I have over 10 different spots to dig not to mention all the feilds I got. But that's sick keep digging lenape
Nice shelter. Rock shelters have spoiled me. For me its the best place for finding artifacts. You ever need help holler. Just down the road from ya...:)
keep going man, thats turning out nice! I bet the reason all these ???'s keep coming, is simple, caves have large deposits of soil overtime, the cave i dug, we dug through a whole 2 feet before we hit the original soil, Im sure if you take all that dirt open there is another chamber or some shit haha!
Love the pink color! Thanks for the added effort to give us an "In Sittu" video clip. Just love that feeeling of being there right by your side upon discovery! A good day of diggin!
I am no expert, matter of fact Im barely amature. But is there any chance that the entire floor of the overhang has progressed upward over time. Not from build up or overburden, but the entire base under the slate has been pushed up by shifts or pressures from down deep. Just a thought
oh yeah thats nice but i dont understand how or why digging in the back is any better then out front.why would there be a arrowhead so close to the celing i dont understand how that rock shelter gets so full up to the roof where thers still points 8 inches from the roof will you please explain this to me i would really like to understand how it happens.it seems to me if you dug farther out towards the door you wouldnt have to be so crowded in there.
@waylan3 I can't explain it. I don't know. I don't dig towards the "door" because it's frozen right now. I crawl in the back because I'm finding points and pipes there! Pretty simple really.
That is one sweet point! What would you say, Hopewell/Snyder? I have to give a tip of my hat to all the Archeologists, professional and amateur, the preservation of Native American history takes stern dedication, which you seem to have plenty of! I always look forward to watching your videos, just wish I lived in an area with some overhangs. I am going to go a little further north here in Missouri this spring and find some to dig. Ya'll got me hooked on digging! Thanks---- SirRagdaddy
I swear, the stuff back there must either be stashed back there like a cache type situation. So interesting watching you crawl in so shallow of a place and finding points. Since they were not habitating the cave as a dwelling in the back like that, they must have been storing their stuff back there and crawling to get it when they need it.
Im in on the community dig! Where and when? lol I couldnt agree more on youre comment about all the positve feedback on the vids. Funny how one common thread draws each of us to share a small fraction of the day, or find out what the day had in store for someone. Then end up with nothing but kind comments or words of encouragement, and if youre lucky, a great big CONGRATS. Pretty nice way to end the day if you ask me. Oh and by the way CONGRATS on the find. Keep on diggin!
Very cool point. I hope to see some of those Snyder plummets that are found on some of those type sites. I cant help but agree with some of the others in asking can you move more dirt from out of the front so you dont have to crawl into the back?-Tim
@flintobsessions Man I hear ya, but unforuntetly I can't dig out the tight spots because the bed-rock (blue shale) is just a few inches below the surface. I can dig fine in the front, just not way back there. Good luck tomorrow!
Thats soo cool! Whenever you find a point i think u should bring us there with you! Its so awsome to see it come outa the insitu as is!! the points i find i dont really wash now becasue i just love the natural dirt that dates back on it!! Sweet video, thats 2 videos from you now that i put into my favs!!! Congrats and keep it up!!!
any ideas why the stuff is in the narrows? I would dig the front out and layer by layer moving towards the inner part pulling it out and making the cave bigger ... might want to put in braces though .... wouldnt want it to collapse!
pretty cool snyder. This does seem like a pretty good bunch of guys in the arrow head community, we need to have a group dig maybe richard could host it at the Q LOL
Nice Synder, Man that was a killer pipe you found the other day, along with your other 2 they make an awesome trio...I see that your crawling on your belly just curious how deep you can dig before you hit solid rock.
@9959spike I have to crawl because there is a blue shale layer just below. In the front, I can dig to about 4 feet but as I get back in the corners the shale layer is real shallow. Thanks for the comment.
good job man :)
