I know this guy from school. I heard he never had formal training until he got into college and that he has been accepted to 3 grad schools so far .... somebody sees his potential. In person he has a lovely tonality to his voice. Just wonderful.
Nice instrument. Pushes the heck out of the top. Studying with a tenor? Needs to be or someone that really understands the voice type. It'd be a shame for it to be ruined.

Ever heard some of the old Swedish recordings of Jussi Bjoerling at 20 - 21?? It's a nice sweet voice but not yet world class and the top had not yet acquired that famous bloom or shine at all. I too can think of several refinements I'd like to hear, but the point is he's 21 and I believe the refinements and growth will come. I can't think of ANY tenor that was world class at 21. Soprano Rosa Ponselle did it, but she was a freak of nature.
I don't know if I've heard those - and I believe you to an extent. He can't have been as good as he was to become, not nearly, but the fact is Bjorling made his professional debut at 19 - proceeding therefrom by getting more and more roles.
And you can't really compare Jussi Björling and this guy, Bjorling had vocal coaching from the age of 4. Damn the word limit.... much more to say!

Yes of course... I just hope he'll concentrate as much of his ability on interpretation as on technique in the future.
He has great raw materials, but interpretation doesn't develop on it's own in the same way as the voice does. Great voice though, good luck...
