@MrManushe this is definitely Romanian music, but the taraf orchestra has a gipsy show off spectacular specific turn... as many of them are gypsies but... the fluier (pied piper :) ) is an ancestral shepard's instrument and the type of songs (Doina, hora and briu, as musical forms) are deeply folk and impossible to found elsewhere but in Romania

You need something more than practice. The flute singer realy feel and sing like a Romanian one. That's mean you have to understand Romanians and to feel like tem if you want to sing good Romanian folk music, like the flute singer does. The acompaniament (background music) has some gypsie influence, but doina, hora and briu belongs to old (I woud say ancient) Romanian folk music.

A times, I had the feeling it resembles "Dream Theater - The Dark Eternal Night" in the way you can distinguish each instrument bringing it's influence on the end result, and the changes in expressions along the evolution of the song.

It's always nice to see professionals that are passionate about what they're doing.

I'd like to see this guy's songs reorchestrated by Dream Theater or any other rock band that has at least 4 real musicians on different instruments, that would kick ass..

j'ai connu la roumanie de ceaucescu et celle d'après de 1974 à 2002 et voyagé sur des routes incertaines de Costanza à Cluj Napoca,de la frontière moldave en transylvanie

et j'écoute toujours avec bonheur ces airs entendus par bribes là-bas-que dieu protège les roumains et les roms/tziganes et leur donne la possibilités de travailler et vivre dans leur pays sans venir chercher en france ce qu'ils ne pourront pas trouver.

When I was a school-teacher I had a little gipsy-boy in my class. Of course it was dull for him, with his soul longing for freedom, nature.

Then happened something wonderful: as he was not expecting me to see it, I saw him playing the violin with his pencil as the fiddlestick and the gom as the violin. He played the most wonderful music :). And he touched my heart.

In Holland we know Gipsy-music too, but is that gipsy-music? It is performed by The Rosenberg Trio, really excellent, superb.

Django Reinhardt is the inspirator, and a gipsy, the Rosenbergs are gipsies, and living in the same place as the boy I wrote about. The music in Spain from the Gipsy Kings is gipsy music also.... My question is:

What is authentic gipsy music?

In the topic: Commercially released I read:

"Musiques de tsiganes de Roumanie" (or: Romanian Gipsy Music) and "Band of Gipsies".....

It's true. The music is sung by the romanian gipsies but it is not music composed by the gipsies. I could direct you to some let's say authentic gipsy music (from Romania). Listen to Clejani if you want the taraf of outlaws (haidouk means outlaw). That music has some gipsy in it while the songs posted here do not. That was my point.
