everybody talk about Charlotte ...and i think that it's exagerated... well ok i recognise she had a musical talent... but what makes her that good is her prestigious producers and (co-)writers of her songs... she just had the holly chance to have this name Gainsbourg and it helped her to find some of the best musicians and songwriters around the world to surround her... without her name...she will surely b just another of those hundred good but less essential artist unremembered by z media
@BohemianConspiracy Okay i can understand your point of view but type "elastique videoclip (1986)" for the cute face and "zero pointe vers l'infini" for the heart breaking voice, you just can't resist that !
@Shleoss the original is always the best even when it's not... hehe ...'cause the original invented the whole atmosphere of the song... so it's always easier to came after...and try to transcendent it... it's just vain... there can be a few exceptions... when the original song and 1st interpretation was not a song (co-)wrote by the artist who sing it first...
@BohemianConspiracy yep, totally agree, actually there was a comment saying "this reminds me of a Serge gainsbourg song " and the other one saying "so much better than gainsbourg" that's the only reason i asked if he was talking about Charlotte or her father (even though i do prefer Charlotte's version, but when it comes to her, i'm never objective) Finally, it seems like this isn't the original version either.. Well i think It's only a matter of "familiarization" you get used to one version.
Jean Pierre Ferland wrote so many beautiful songs. All of them could be easily translated in English and other languages including Russian and Spanish. Probably the most prolific French speaking composer between 1960 and 1990.
Jean-Pierre Ferland wrote this song in 1970. It was part of his album JAUNE (yellow). Found out about him in Wikipedia! At that time, it was considered a terrific album. It's a great song that Charlotte Gainsbourg put on her album this year.
@zlivet mmm beck realy looks like him would be more precise since ferland made that album way before beck was an artist, but i really love beck and was really happy he did a version of it.
@TheLightification This is not the original, it's the Kid Loco's Remix from the 2005 remix album "Jaune revisité". So it is not Tony Levin Bassline, sorry.

Charlotte, cant act, cant sing and is terrible on a stage. I wonder why we even talk about her. Oh yeah, her father... That's all she has

Quel grand artiste que ce Jean-Pierre Ferland. Chapeau!!!

Ma pièces préférée de Ferland, acidulée et faisant vaguement penser à "Requiem pour un Con" de Gainsbourg.
Une pièce magique, quoi.

Je préfère la version épurée avec moins d'instrument et plus d'emphase sur les paroles.
