  • @MrJMH1954 What many ppl don't know is, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks owes a lot to Mr. Joe Ely, her Dad played for him and after he died he took an interest.

  • Saw him play this song at the Amarillo Civic Center around 1984. He opened for the Maines Brothers.

  • That was when he was GREAT. His pedal steele was later the father of the lead singer in the Dixie Chicks. His drummer passed away in a car accident. Joe was THE BEST. I loved him like nobodys business. We met when he was here in NYC, and about 3 yrs later, when I met her backstage at a Clash show, his huge, ugly girlfriend wanted to throw me out of a window. I looked like Bettie Page at the time, with black hair, cats eyes, and red lipstiick, and Rockabilly style. She was a 6' monster.

  • Stubbs BBQ bring back any memories? Been there done that, wish I could do it again!!!

  • Love Joe! Awesome to see Joe, Jesse, Lloyd, Ponty and company again. How many hours did I spend with them at the Cotton Club? Viva la Joe Ely Band!!!!!!!!!!!

    RIP - Jesse Taylor
