I am currently watching some of the older vlog videos, so that is why you are getting comments from me on the older vids. Oh and by the way, not sure about the reason of the type of stagger formation, my belief is that the people who write them sit behind a desk, and have never riden a bike, and it just sounded good to that person writing it.
@moose3971 I still think there are advantages in the lead rider being to the right in the case of two motorcycles traveling together. The visibility for the second rider is much improved ahead.
Great to see this ride from both your and SC's vantage points. I like your theory about riding in R-L staggered formation. The only thing I could think of for why the "officials" advocate L-R is that a passing car may try to merge in on a R-L formation, thinking the lead was actually the second man - who could be obstructing the cager's view, hiding the real lead man in the blind spot.
There are good arguments for doing it either way. I prefer when I am the lead of the group for everyone to stay in formation when possible and safe. It keeps the view straight ahead more unobstructed and makes things more predictable for new riders. That said any good leader will always tell you the ultimate responsibility for your safety is your own. I have left groups of riders before when I didn't feel comfortable with the safety factor.

But that's just speculation.
I can't wait to ride with you guys in August!

It's interesting to me that you maintained the stagger formation when passing the truck.
I would've moved to the left but I am a newbie at riding with people.

I see your points.
I worry about sudden gusts of wind or things flying off semi's and don't ever want to be too close to them.
