  • UGH. Having a wheel that is not solid (one that is made of wire and has little holes in it) can RIP OFF your hedgehog's feet if they get stuck while running. You're going to make your hedgehog pay for your mistake if you don't fix that. Along with all the other things wrong with this video.

  • Don't experiment with a hedgehog what if your mom and dad didn't know if their milk was expired so they put in your baby bottle

  • there is so much wrong with this video >,> the poor thing was force fed while trying to drink, and he's kept in death traps. please consider using a large clear plastic tub for a cage, it's MUCH safer, larger, and cheaper than a tiny little overpriced petstore cage. also, his wheel is made of wires, which could result in his little toes accidentally getting injured. they sell plastic wheels without holes at pet stores, and they're normally pretty inexpensive.

  • also, there seem to be a LOT of animals in there. for their sake, i'd recommend rehoming some of them, to make sure each and every one of them gets the proper care they deserve. sorry if that comes off as rude, i'm just concerned for the animals and it seems like you've got a lot on your hands, which could be the reason you're assuming you can put a hedgehog in any little cage or wheel like other animals who are less fragile.

  • You should really consider changing your hedgehog to a high quality cat food. The food you're currently feeding is basically junk food nutrition wise, and it's actually recommended that you don't feed freeze dried insects. Hedgies have trouble digesting them in the freeze dried state and it can cause really dangerous and sometimes fatal intestinal blockages.

  • DONT GIVE WATER FROM THE TAP! it may be fine with us to have traces of chlorine in our drinking water... but they are smaller and are not that tolerant

  • ur hedgie looks thin :( Healhty hedgehogs are plump...

  • sorry but your care for your hedgehog is morbid.. you look like you are trying to drive him to the grave..! next time you want to get an animal do your research.. you fired me up seeing the poor creature getting the wrong care.. also make sure you dont post a video about it you are giving people false information..! Thanks

  • A few feet by a couple! Hmm thanks that helps alot!

  • what is wrong with u lady!!! DX

  • Don't use pine shavings. It can get in their...you know..."Happy organs" and it is NOT going to be fun to try to get them out. and they may be high in sugar, but give the little guy some fruit. and bugs are primarily treats, not main food, feed him the worms and crickets sparingly. You can use either Hedgehog pellets or dry catfood that's low in fat as his primary food source.

  • you shouldnt use bowls, they just play in the water, also you shouldnt give your hedgehog lettuce it cant digeest it properly

  • @PoindexterwithaK you're...still pretty lame

  • Comment removed

  • you really helped me out thank you so much !! :))))

  • I bet someone did not read these comments and took all of this advice on the video and killed their poor hedgehog.those 72 people who wanted a hedgehog looked at this video as the first reaserch video and killed their hedgies.i hope she reads this.707Megen707 is totally right about things 1-8

    With all due respect,Lydia

  • ok... you should not have a hedgehog. You have absolutely NO clue what youre doing or talking about in this video clearly..

  • im sorry your wrong....

    1. you CANNOT use pine shavings

    2. if your hedgehog drinks that much doesn't that tell you something

    3. a good size cage for a hedgehog is a guinea pig cage

    4. hedgehogs dont like a lot of noise. how much noise is there with all of those animals?

    5. you need to get a heat lamp or keep your room at 75 degrees

    6. the cage can overheat and burn the plastic off or catch on FiRe?!

    7. hedgehogs NEED some kind of fruit in their diet

  • 8 please change the wheel it can damage their feet or rip off its toenails 9 the dust on the igloo can get in its lungs 10 the blanket inside the igloo needs to be smaller so they have room to move around here are some ideas for you get carefresh buy a guinea pig cage isolate all of the animals a little bit buy a heat lamp give them a half of a carrot once in a while get a silent spinner wheel (the 6 1/2 inch one) clean everything in the cage often PLEASE CONSIDER THIS IT WILL MAKE HIM HAPPIER
  • @breyerandpokemongirl then can u mak a hedgehog care vid?

  • DUDE, Plsss change the running wheel, tht type of running wheel is most likely to get ur Hedgehog's leg get suck there !! And it will make the leg bleed or even rip the leg out :((((( Tht poor thing

  • You trying to hurt it

  • How many animals do you have?!:o

  • HEDGEHOGS ARE NOT PETS.

  • WIRE WHEELS R FATAL. DUH!!!!!

  • your cage is kinda small, shouldn't u get a bigger one for spike?

  • I ment weel

  • Umm ilove ur video but u shouldmget a week with no holes it's feet could get stuck :)

  • ill trust you trust me

  • A few by a couple :) Loved the video, and very cute hedgehog!

  • @707Megan707 shut up, stupid whore!

  • I mean, if someone wants to see a video of PROPER hedgehog care, look at the one by someone named shelobe... SHE KNOWS WHAT SHES DOING.

  • @ThaSexyTractor So very true, this chick doesn't know what she's doing.

  • @ThaSexyTractor Exactly!

  • i commented before but i watched again and i noticed you hedgehog is drinking pretty fast and he could be to heated or dehydrated

  • lol "you can give them vitamins, no not vitamins! vegetables" lmao ur funny

  • Fail. I mean really did you do NO research before you got him. 1.hedgehogs and pine don't do well together, 2. That wheel is bad read comments below, 3. Cage is WAY to small, 4. The way your room looks you hoard animals and your the reason animals are in shelter, 4. I can't tell if your a girl or boy. You need more experience.

  • @SoTooni

yeahhh.. i was kinda surprised when he/she said the pine was used for the bedding..... i dont own a hedgehog (i wish to own one) but i've done research on it on the internet saying pine or something from softwood which i dont remember, is not good for them.... im sorry but this seems more like animal abuse to me... seeing so many animals in cage.....

  • Give him some space bra

  • "HEY EAT THIS! EAT THIS! EAT THIS!" gahhh! shut up!

  • Comment removed

  • "Loud, and annoying", like what you are to Spike. No offense, put you need to give hiim some space, like seriously

  • First. dont force your hedgehog to do anything.

    second the wheel horibble.

    like if you agree.

  • but yeah you can set the food infront of him of something then he maby will drink or eat. Like you did first . :)

  • you cannot command it to eat you know only if he wants to like with the water. If he not want a worm right now you cannot command it to. :)

  • This is the worst hedgehog care video I've ever seen. Your hedgie is going to die slowly and painfully if you dont get your shit together.

  • yea really i think she should take the vidio off its miss leading.

  • When a video has more 'dislikes' than 'likes' you know not to watch it...

  • Whats the best thing to do when they hibernate?

  • @alfriendo2008 Put a heating pad under it or something. It isnt very good for them to hibernate. That's what i heard, maybe ask someone a little bit more reliable ? Correct me if im wrong anybody.

  • omg you must love pets

no afence but crazy pet girl

  • just wait love until ur little guy wants to eat, no point forcing him.

  • Get another wheel before ur hedgie breaks his leg

  • You don't know the reasonings as to WHY they need certain things. They shouldn't have that wheel because they get toes stuck in there and can rip off toenails, toes, or break legs. They shouldn't have pine bedding because they are allergic, it can get stuck in a males urethra, and cause a urinary tract infection. Not too mention harbours mites. Fleece liners are best. Please learn to take better care of your hog. PLEASE

  • @xXxPoOkAxXx F@^$ yeah I agree with you I did a months of research before I got mine and this person didnt do any at all poor hedgehog maybe dead cause of her :(

  • UR SO STUPID!!! DONT U KNOW THAT UR NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE A WHEEL LIKE THAT!!!!!!!! AND UR POOR HEDGIE IS GONNA DIE CUZ ITS GONNA BE SO FAT CUZ U FORSE IT TO EAT THINGS!!!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.................. im FURIOUS WITH u!!!!!

  • ARE YOU STOOPID?

  • i am surprised ur hedge doesnt have a broken leg!!!

  • and the wheel is sideways. it's not even up right.

  • you're a fucking idiot. don't try to force him to eat anything. you should probably read what EVERYONE else is saying.

  • how many pets do you have?

  • where u get hedgehogs anyway

  • i think you should pay more attention, hedgehogs are usually very active, your hedgehog ust seems to be bored and tired, also your forcing your hedgehog to do stuff, let him play in his cage.. another thing, fruits are fine for hedgehogs, my hedgehogs favorite is bananas. you can NOT use PINE shavings! pine will give them Respretory problems. also you CAN NOT use cage bottom weels, their feet get stuck and they can brake. also there is too much poop, i clean my hedgehogs cage every morning.

  • Actually, the food that she's using is one of the few that IS recommended for hedgehogs. Yes, some "hedgehog foods" are not good, some even lethal as they contain raisins. Google "hedgehog Kimberly Goertzen" for a free hedgehog book - see page 53.

  • Comment removed

  • wow shes so dumb poor hedgie

  • Ur FORCING the pity hedgehog??D=

  • Your hedgehog is sooooooooo cute !!!!!!!!!!! :D

  • animal hoarder

  • Ur wrong about the temp. Its supposed to be between 75-78.

  • @shortii12341 Also, CHANGE the bedding to cedar! U will give the poor thing respitory problems!!! I feel sorry for that hedgehog!

  • @shortii12341 Actually cedar and pine bedding CAUSES respitory problems for hedgehogs. As well as cause irritation to the eyes and mucus mebranes. So no, cedar and/or pine beddings are actually very bad for hedgehogs.

  • you know your wheel is sideways, right?good video otherwise!:)

  • gezze you cant just force feed your hedghog!! also you cant have a wire wheel!!! there toes can get stuck in them and acctually tear off!!! geeze your gonna kill that poor animal!!!!

  • @cherrypop1127 also DONT USE A AQRAIUM it doesnt have enough ventalation

  • gezze you cant just force feed your hedghog!!

  • note he dosent like blakeit

  • Cool hedgehog! I really want one! Do they hibernate like they do in the wild?

  • @dirtyfrank1986 i think they do but its best not to let a domesticated hedgehog hibernate, they can get sick from it or die,

  • I know you are talking about feeding him vegetables but you said i haven't really experimented with other ones. Thats not the way to fo. Don't experiment wirh a living creature I mean I know that its only vegetables but just make sure you know its safe.

  • I'd definitely recommend tossing that wheel and picking up one with a solid plastic bottom. google hedgehog wheels and you'll find a ton of stuff about them. wire mesh wheels are the worse rated because they're dangerous for the hedgehogs toes which can easily get caught.

  • Pryorforalways your dumb and ur the one who is the bitch ur not supposed to go around people and say ur a bitch

  • Wow..people u don't have to be THAT mean..it's a nice video but she doesn't force them to do the stuff..she just wants 2 show u...shesh

  • you dont need to feed him hedgehog food its not a must, you could use purina one cat food. Ooh as of the wheel it needs to be atleast 12 inches idk how many that is but it looks small and the wheel should be solid not have wholes in it cause they can get there nails, feet and wholes legs cought in the wheel and get hurt. the cage should be atleast four feet squared but the hedgehog is still alive so you must be doing something right lol

  • your takign care of him in an okay way but you dont need to feed him hedgehog its not a must, you could use purina one cat food. Another thing is you shouldn't bother your hedgie while its eating or drinking.

  • Hedghogs DONT drink out of a bowl ITS NOT A DOG its supposed to drink out of a watter bottle like a hamster

  • @hollar578 your somewhat right, i have a bottle and a bowl so he can choose but the natural drinking position is in a bowl and you should try both and see witch it prefers because some hedgehogs strain there neck looking up and some just dont like bowls.

  • .@hollar578 but hedgehogs natural position for drinking is the what her hedgehog is doing. Bottles can strain the hedgehogs neck. So both have pros and cons

  • @hollar578

Yeah, cause the wild ones drink from a bottle too

  • @hollar578 actually bottles are pretty bad for hedgehogs, it strains theyre neck and chips their teeth, my hedgehog couldnt find out how to work it so i used a bowl.

  • thats a lot of tanks & cages you got there

  • cute ^^

  • Wow.Now I Know Who NOT To Go To For Advice Thanks ! I Feel Really Bad For Ur HEdgeHog !I Mean U FORCE HIM TO DO STUFF Just To Get Views &&'d LIkes &&'d All ! Wow ! Before You Tell People SOme "advice" On How To Care For ONe, Make Sure You Know What You Are Talkin About ! What Im Sayin Is DO UR OWN RESEARCH!!! YOU KNOW NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!! CHLORINE!!!REALLY!!!WOW IM GLAD I DNT KNOW YOU!!!!!!!!

  • @ItZuRcOoKiEmOnStEr She is not trying to force him. She is only trying to demonstrate. If she was forcing him, she would pull and force to open his mouth. She is trying to show people if they can really eat them.

  • @ItZuRcOoKiEmOnStEr the only real problem with the video is the wheel the rest is an okay setup for the hedgehog i've had my hedgehog for two years and half the time i give him tap water, quit being a dipshit and stop picking on kids.

  • ca you show usthe bolw

  • This is a good video. I would probably use fleece bedding instead of wood shavings.. It's just better for them. If you want to be on the safe side

  • Theres too many other animals in your room, he could get stressed and die.

  • @kitzyx shes clearly an animal hoarder who sees the animals as cute novelties, like toys that she 'owns' thus the neglect and ill treatment of them... some people are so selfish and dont consider the well being of what is another living being, instead looking at them as little cute novelties to poke and push around and keep caged...I could go on and on but i will refrain as i find it too upsetting when i see the plight of animals living like this and i cant do much to help the poor thing

  • @kitzyx oh please!

  • put veggie oil on the well weree it spins itll be silent

  • the nerve of some people..

  • omg let your hedgehog drink then give to him the worm......

  • you really do need to do some research. hedgies can't have wire wheels because their feet can get stuck in the holes, you need a solid wheel.

  • @TheKurtispurgatory I completely agree, I was really angry to see the wheel...ahh

  • @Theogwyn Probably shouldn't have the ball toy either! And there is so much more to learn about hedgehogs...I spent a year learning about hedgehogs before I got mine and I stikll dont know everything

  • this video is to long

  • what did he do to the plastic bowl? lol

  • Pine isnt good for hedgies at all. yes he may be fine now but just saying it not good.. and fumes at all if bad for them weather you think so or not..

  • where can you buy hedgehogs

  • how many pets do u have in that room?!?!?

  • ummmm.. .... actually you never want to buy commercially producced hedgehog food. It's bad. Get either good ferret food, (with all meat) or cat food, (Innova feline perhaps? Or maybe premium edge?) and for ferret food 8 in 1 ultimate or wysong archetype. Tap water isn't good. It has chemicals. Bottled water is better.

  • @dreamera1 Bottled water for a damn hedgehog? A RODENT?

  • @GreatLash75 Hedgehogs arent rodents the are insectivores. Porcupines are rodents. Not hedgehogs

  • Ok now stop with all the "My hedgehog's are fine so don't worry" crap, you can't tell if your hedgehogs are fine now can you? No you cannot. Now stop with the crap and take some advice and stop misleading people.

  • Like others have said you shouldn't feed him hedgehog food you should feed him high quality cat or ferret food. And just because hedgehogs won't be killed by most chemicals doesn't mean they are good for them you should use bottled water. And you should alwasy cut off the heads of meal worms because they will bite the insides of the hedgehog.

  • OMG LUV, take this from someone who knows a bit about animals and doing a bsc hons degree in zoo animal management. YOUR NOT TAKING CARE OF IT VERY WELL AT ALL, GO AND DO SOME BLOODY RESEARCH

  • @amze1234 I agree people should do more research before they commit to a pet sheesssshhhhhh!.

  • @amze1234 your another bitch

  • @PYROforALWAYS Thank you, i do try =)

  • @PYROforALWAYS I know amze1234 and i can assure you that she is not a bitch, we both know a thing or two about animals and the fact that this hedgehog isn't dead is its one sturdy little thing or luck! so don't call people bitches please, i didn't see amze1234 or joltingfire5 swear.

  • Omg you are an animal hoarder lol!

  • for my hedgehogs' food i take the food you have and mix it with before b.c grain. they really seem to like it and they are healthy.

  • what about shredded paper

  • @chauncy424 Not a good option. fleece liners or blankets are probably your safest bet; many hedgehog owners use them as an alternative to other bedding. If you do use fleece however, be sure to wash it with a safe detergent (unscented/hypoallergenic).

  • You need a Solid Wheel. He Could Slip and Break a Leg! you really need to go to Hedgehog Central. yes, they can run 1-2 KM a night! you NEED a wheel, the Appropreate Size, and Shape. without a wheel, they will become Obese and Depressed.

  • Where do they shit?

I hope they are not like rats... cuz rats shit everywhere and then walk in it... -.-"

  • @jnefrh Dude, they Can be Litter box Trained! haha, pree Hardcore.

  • your excercise wheel is totaly wrong, its suposed to be plastic not metal, solid not wired and it has bars!

  • it fell in the water

you can feed them vitamins oh no vegtables

    pmsl

  • @yeknom111222 they need Vegetables in their Diet. they need Vegies 3-4 Times Per Week. but you Remove the Vegies after 30mins

  • how much was your hedgehog and where did you get it from??

  • new video?

  • @CaptiveRainbow stfu__she did a quality video!and ur a just a hater!

  • Agua!!!!!:)

  • Your Hedgeog looks like he doesn't even have quills. It looks more like fur LOL. Their quills feel like needles don't they. Thanks for the help!

  • Great vid! I am thinking about getting one. are they good pets?

  • 0:33 let me guess... he cracked open the food bowl?

  • @timbertomboy It's very easy to say that you're taking good care of them when you aren't listening to anyone else's opinion. But as someone has worked at a zoo I can say that his care is DEFINITELY lacking.

And you should never interrupt a drinking animal. If he's drinking, he's thirsty, and should be allowed to quench that thirst undisturbed.

  • wow, i'm surprized the hedgehog isn't dead yet. Btw, you should really listen to other people's comments, cause trust me, you need some education about hedgehogs. Please grow up. If you don't listen to others, your not going to get anwhere in life.

  • @joltingfire5 your a bitch lol

  • @joltingfire5 give her a break because she has lots of pets and knowss more

  • Geez! You've got a lot of pets! Cool video, though. My hedgehog is only about seven weeks old. How old is Spike?

  • do you know the average cost of a hedgehog?

  • @ShaztaandMikerocks94

    It's anywhere between $100 to $200 dollars

Make sure you find a reputable breeder who is registered under the International Hedgehog Association and Hedgehog Breeders Association

  • if u hold a hedgie with its back quills on ur hand will it poke u?

  • i love your videos!!!

  • great videos i love hedgehogs and am planning to get one!

  • Gorgeous hedgehog and great video! :) I would love a hedgehog but I already have a cat, 3 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs. lol How many pets do you have? I saw alot of cages?

  • @tw833 he took it ur a piece of shit!

  • @tw833 he took the mealworm from her hand!!! ur stupid!!!!!!

  • I'm getting my fist hedgehog in a week :) the breeder I have lined up has me choosing between a snowflake or albino but I like both but I sure as hell am not paying $400 to get one of each which schould I choose and btw nice vid maby ill sub to you

  • hearing spike drinking sounds so sweet i am thinking of getting a HH and a ferret

  • I have a question, well a couple of them. Well my gerbil recently died and she was almost 5. My mom is telling me i should get another pet. But i dont want to replace my gerbil. But i really want a hedgehog so i took notes on this video (thats how bad i want one.) But anyways, i was gonna ask a few questions.

    1. Are their quills spiky?

    2. Do i give them baths?

    3. Do they bite?

    4. How long do they live?

    5. Are they sweet pets?

Thanks so much you helped me alot with the video. :)

  • @omgily221

I don't own one but my brother wants one so I'm helping him learn, but i read that you MUST bathe them at least once a month, or they get dirt in their claws and quills and it can make them very sick. Also, you MUST keep them warm enough, they die if they get too cold even for a little while.

  • how many meal worms can u feed your hedgehog a day

  • Very nice care video, you're well educated and I wouldn't listen to those other nobs. I use the same mesh wheel, it works just fine and his feet are much bigger than the holes so there have never been problems.

  • Do you know how long I should wait until I pick up my hedgie? I got him today :) and I have already picked him up with a towel over a dozen times. I just wanna know when it would be safe for me to pick him up.

  • @craze176 Please , don't talk what you do not know about .

I've had hedgehogs all my life they always been on aspen and Tanks and most of them made it over 10 years!

  • @GamingHell Hedgehogs only live 4-6 years. Your probaley just saying that..

  • Great Video. You are a natural with animals. I really liked how your little hedgie actually did things. Fun to watch him drink and munch down a worm. He seemed to do everything you led him to. It takes a lot of love to draw an animal's personality out and you did it.

  • don't EVER trust pine. it doesn't matter if it's only a lil scented, the natural scent and oils in the pine can cause some serious respiratory issues. i'm going to vocational school to then go to college for vet tech and the teach always stresses the importance of not using pine bedding. otherwise, not a bad vid. just curious, what other animals were in the tanks in your room?

  • @FlashGordon5272 That's cedar, not pine.
