Why not show balmorhea? It is about the most peaceful and remarkable from a geological stand point ranging from the San solomon springs, which is the largest spring fed pool in the world with crystal clear waters, to the beautiful mountainous terrain directly to the west. Not to mention the fact that it seems to serve as a mid point to surrounding towns as it is somewhat in the central area of West Texas
I can't agree more with the other folks posting comments, this area is just perfect. That said, not everyone likes it there. Most people I talk to about West Texas think it's too hot, dry, remote, empty, etc.... All traits that make it perfect in my opinion.
We took the same trip last October and Ube is correct, pictures never seem to do it justice! Balmorhea was such a beautiful place, we plan on taking our RV there this summer.
We were there this summer and took similar footage...but pictures never seem to do it justice. It was awesome to be there in person and the isolation made you feel very small and vulnerable...especially when someone forgets to fill up the car and it's 103 degrees outside. No water til balmorhea!
Drove on this road so many times during mid 90's........

me and my wife just recently took that road. it's so incredible, almost religious and the further you drive the more beautiful it becomes.

Long time no see this sence of empty highway.
I was gruduate form Sul Ross in 1994.
Back then I used to woke up early and take a trip for fishing & see a sun rise at Balmorhea.
And of course stop by Ft. Davis on the way back for a great BBQ sandwhich.
Umm I really miss Alpine.

My cousin lives there and i go to camp at Prude Ranch every summer for the past 8 years out there. It's AMAZING...
the footage is nice, but you have to see it in person. Driving out their is fun in iself.
Make sure to eat at the Bear's Den in Balmorhea for the best mexican food in Texas!
