I loved those voicings, there is the soul of jazz, like you said a drunken bar singer.. go read jazz history, it's about letting it go in the moment. And those voicings are the way he transmit music all the time. If you want the original version, go listen Joy division.

Yeah I was at this concert too! Jamie Cullum was absolutely awesome. I think he did the original justice. I love this open 4th harmonies and voicings. He truly is a great pianist and singer in his own right.
