  • Classic gaming at its finest. Today it's pretty much pointless to do a speedrun of an FPS shooters because they're usually scriped as #^&^#$ throughout entire game. Won't let you progress until script runs its course (e.g. crashing helicopter etc)

  • console gamers stay the fuck out of the comment section, thank you :D !

  • impulse 9 is what taught me to type.

  • Damn I can't eat while watching this since whenever I eat a chunk of sausage I miss one goddamn level.

  • this lap in 4:40 my best time is 27 sec.....i can't do make ik better :(

  • This Hellish Dimension is so fucking creepy...

  • Wait so you DID just beat Quake in 15 minutes and 26 seconds?

  • lol at the elevator =D

  • Very impressing!

  • 5:54 grenade jump ???

  • Ogre with chainsaw looks liek little girl with lolipop

  • That Elevator really breaks up the pacing :D

  • @HaiMrCoco i wonder if they ever wondered to put elevator music in it. That should spice things up xD

  • Are you trick jumping? I played DPB2. That game has the same engine as Quake 2 and has the same physics bugs. Thus you can trick jump in both the games. I wouldn't doubt you can do it in this game because this game is a prequal to Quake II.

  • how is he runnign so fast in game like that ? Bunny hop ?

  • @tasselhoff00 yeah :))

  • you were like a phantom to the quakelings! sht!!!

  • Phenomenal speed run.

  • can i download this as a replay

  • 3:05-4:00 The Slow Hell of Speedrunnes. Epic speedrun though. Some levels still give me nightmares, i got lost on several occasions, I laugh in agony when I see someone finishing a level in 20 seconds, where i was failing for half an hour.

  • 0:40 Do paused there and look on the face side of life. xD

  • Damn maniac! BTW strafe jumping is much dificult but muh more effective in quake 1.

  • Anyone one else distrubed by the boss's name Shub-"Niggur"ath?

  • @Combinebobnt it is a name taken from H.P Lovecraft's works, the game has lots of inspiration from him. He is an author of horror books, you can look it up on Wikipedia. Shub Niggurath is a creature derived from Lovecraft's books, used in Quake. Id Software did not make that name up. But yeah the name is kind of weird I guess.

  • XDXD 3:05

  • Dude how many tries did it take for you to become this fast and agile!!

  • why didn't you grenade-jump at 5:52? really good vid though.

  • i want this dudes freaking autograph ::cries:: it was beautiful

  • amazing

  • 3:05 cue the elevator music.

  • Lol. I love the vanishing Shambler at the end. He's all, "K bai."

  • That's not a marine, that's a spider monkey on crack!

  • Remember watching this on my compaq 166 mhz in the nineties ..still amazing

  • @axiom098

how were you watching this in the nineties if this was done in 2005?

  • @g0dlike308 I think this is not the video axiom098 is talking about, but the video existed indeed. If I remember correctly, the guy in the 90s finished the nightmare skill in about 8 minutes (!). I repeat: I am not sure, it was a long ago, but the job was done (and better) already before 2k.

  • @iscand Sorry but that's incorrect. The original run you're probably referring to was done in 1997 and the total time was 19:49. Later the same year, it's been improved to 16:35, and in early 2000 again to 12:23, which is the official "record" that stand until today.

  • @iscand However, these runs were done by multiple people *and* by recording each level individually, which is a huge difference to this run, which was recorded in a single session and by one person alone! It's arguably a much greater achievement (in fact, it will hardly get any better than this).

  • @Stimpy194 Oh, ok, then I am really wrong. Now that I read your answer, I remember that more people were credited in that movie. What really surprised me at that time, by the way, is that they were playing the nightmare skill.

  • Amazing...

hope you don'T play only online any games

  • this speed run never ceases to amaze me.

  • lol

    rly stopped :))

  • The time has stopped at 3:11 ))))

  • how does he jump so far at 6:50!? :(

  • You have to know the maps by heart if you're so accurate... amazing.

  • You'r SIK MAN!

  • I can fix HD to this if someone want but just send the clips

  • Woops, accidentally hit 2 stars, meant to click 5, sorry!

  • ID software salutes you man. You should get that on a plaque.

  • they should have made a remake of this that goes just as fast, smooth, and have improved graphics :D

  • haha its easy run. Do make nightmare!

  • How many times have you completed Quake?

  • u rock man

  • wow! 8 seconds!!!! record men!

  • Wait wut

    Shub - NIGGURath

    0.o

  • Самое печальное что я мог бы побить этот рекорд без проблем, но мне впадлу таким заниматься

  • Why did you take damage at 03:48?

  • He picked up a health pack that gives 100health that health pack comes over the 100% health and after a few seconds youre health drops to 100%

  • well done of course with the trickjumps etc, but there are worlds between easy skill (played here) and nightmare skill (the other quake 1 speedrun) --- especially speaking of harder monsters like the shambler etc.

still the trickjumps amaze me big time :)

  • 7:48 - why the hold up?

  • He has to wait for the spiked ball to go inside the... thing.

That spiked balls makes the player teleport where it is.

  • because you have to wait until the spike is inside the monster and you then teleport to where the spike is in order to kill it from the inside!

  • i did episode 1, 2 and 3 then when as i played episode 4 i saw my runes had disappeared. i finished episode 4 but now episode 1, 2 and 3 are opened again. why?

  • Overdue reply, but I noticed this too. You seem to run the risk of losing your runes if you die a lot and start back at the beginning of the level rather than loading a previously saved game. I don't know if it's a bug or a feature.

  • i think thats right. since it happened the first time, its happened again. and it happened after i died and restarted the level.

the only thing you can do short of replaying the entire game is going on GameFaq, find the Give Rune cheat and use it for how many times you a lost a rune.

Its not really cheating if you already got those runes. But if it is a gameplay feature... then it is cheating :) but i've never heard of that before.

  • That is just awesome

  • lol the last boss wansnt much to go on was it? lol

  • how did you record this

  • I really miss the physics of this game.

  • amazing player

  • Hi Connor, I'm an old school quake player, my skill level was about as good as yours, nade jumps and all. Good Stuff. Ever try to run the levels backwards? I have. You know all the maps. Let's see some demos of that!

  • That's very impressive. Why did you wait around before the final exit though?

  • sounds like you never figured out how to kill the final "boss" on Quake. He had to wait to telefrag the big monster. that floating purple spiky thing is the teleport destination, So you have to wait till it's in the right place.

  • how to make a mockery of this game...

  • Great Run nonetheless :) Glad I get to watch it :)

  • Will you do one including all of the hidden levels?

  • Did you use a mouse or did u have to use page up/down? (I think it's those buttons.)

  • nice trolling

  • Just hit the ~ button and the console comes down: type +mlook and you can just normally use the mouse like you do in any shooter.

  • Judging from the channel name, I would assume that you have done this, am I correct?

  • is this even possible for a human to do? jesus fucking christ this guy is fucking CRAZY XD OMFG!!!!!

  • The stuff that guy can do with a grenade is amazing. The rocket launcher is easier to use , but placing a grenade in a precise spot is really tough.

  • I haven't played this for many years, but the levels in this seem to be out of order.

  • He did do them out of order He did the first episode last. It must be easier or faster that way, i don't know.

  • hi there - yeah I did them backwards because the later episodes are harder to speed run. This means when I made a mistake I didn't have to redo the early episodes.

  • Quake allows you to choose the order of the episodes. There is no 'proper order'.

  • hey man, nice run. do you do any defrag?

  • how do you start out with 150?

  • how in earths name do you jump so far whitout rocket you away

  • circle jump, hard to explain, for example: before a jump, look at the left, then press the movement buttons in this order: (left, dont know for sure anymore) foreward, right and then jump. During this sequence move your vision (mouse) in the direction you want to jump. Of course.., this is done in less then half a sec. Just practice.

  • hahahahahahaha OMG

  • the elevator at 3:00 must be frustrating for speed runners ;)

  • sure is

  • I would think it as a nice break, and a chance to relax for a minute. If your heart isn't pounding it's way out of your chest...

  • @tensvb thats why theres elevator music (sounds of screaming =D)

  • @tensvb he seems so out of place standing still doesn't he?

  • Ahhh this brings back such memories! :)

  • NIGGURATH??? How did that one slide XD I'm sure it's an innocent mistake, but I'm surprised no one noticed how that sounds.

  • sounds like something a sunday school teacher would say while she stands at the back of the crowd giggling and feeling guilty for thinking such a thing. the word you're looking for is nigger. there.

  • the name Shub-Niggurath was taken from one of the various entities from H.P.Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Although given Lovecraft's views on race, there may be a connection...

  • My favourite part was when he sped-run through the game

  • Last part, what is he waiting for/

  • The spiked ball is the tele-destination, so once it goes in the snub, he can telefrag it.

  • To teleport to complete the game...

  • Did he choose easy?

  • it is completely possible, just because you cant think to play like that.. its all on screen for you to watch, no cheating.. just knowing the maps inside out and using techniques like rocket jumping ;)

  • I use that ''Rocket Jumping'' my self too, but i have no idea, how i could play that way. [Sry for my bad language]

  • lol getting slowed down by the elivator. Atleast something slowed him down, cause hell being able to utalize grenade jumping like that is cheap :P

  • this game scared the hell out of me when i was a kid

  • wow...the part where you killed Chthon pwned bigtime!!

  • theres a level where the gravity is low i didnt saw it

  • it's a secret level it would take longer to do them

  • can anyone explain me how that kind of "bunny-hopping" is possible in quake? do you have to press jump and strafe or something?

  • Domination? Yeah!!!

    5 Starts

  • LOL at the level wat took u 8 seconds

  • simply amazing

  • lol at 3,10 to 4,00 just waiting for the painfully slow elevator xD,

i remember this as an epic game when it came out, (first real 3d fps i think correct me if im wrong) nice run indeed 5/5

  • That was so funny, huh? Me and my bro were just looking at eachother, as if saying "THIS is a SPEED run?"

  • I love single segmented speedruns. Unlike TAS's you can tell that the player is actually human due to the minor mistakes that are made. TAS's or "tool assisted speedruns" use savestates and speed modifiers to slow the game down, making things like this duck soup. Bravo, to all the bad asses like Connor Fitzgerald, who actually take it to the next level and do it fairly. Well done.

  • So you're saing that this person is cheating?

  • Of course not. I'm saying most people that do "speed runs" are cheating. This person is actually honorable, and did it the hard way.

  • So no seppuku is needed.

  • lol

  • There are very clear rules for speedrunning, so no, most people that speedrun does NOT cheat.

But I do agree that this video is very very good, he actually get really close to the world records on the individual maps, like e1m1 where the record is 24 secs he gets 25, and e2m1 where the record is 7 secs he gets 8.

  • how can you more faster and what for engine's

    are you use it

  • nightmare skill is longer

  • "SHUB_NIGGURATH AWAITS YOU"

Is this isnt the monester from Lovecraft books

    ?

  • He's not playing at the default difficulty level though... this title should be "Quake speed run world record on EASY skill"

  • Read description

  • It's probably because he wanted to do them from the hardest to the easiest, I don't know.

  • yeah that's the reason - in terms of speed-running difficulty the episodes go backwards :)

  • Heh. I don't know shit about Quake speed-running, yet I got one thing straight! :D

Anyway... Despite Quake being one of the easiest games today, then you did it. I don't care about Nightmare skill. I don't care about Easy skill. I don't fuckin' care. You did it, man. You are now one of the fastest (if not the fastest) Quake player on the face this planet. Congratulations, beast! ;)

  • Why was my comment voted as poor? I gave connorbfitz a compliment! :S

  • THIS IS MADNESS!!!!!!!!

  • THIS IS QUAKE!!!!!!!! ...done fast and furious. :D

  • Actually Quake introduced bunny hopping as a working maneuver in deathmatches :)

  • But clearly this is a mindless fanboy who thinks quake came out after Counter Strike...

  • 3:08 lmao.. It just stops.. for a few moments

  • It´s over 9000...

  • I now know 4 people who can do this:

    God

    Jesus

    You

    and Chuck Norris

  • Lol rhino

    Best comment ever

  • really? god and jesus... yeaahh great comment. santa clause, the tooth fairy, and the gingerbread man are great at quake too. how come you left them out?

  • holy shit bro that was sick i remember trying to do a speed run and i got like 17:12 but 13:46 owns :P

  • Sort of impressive, but Chuck Norris can complete it in 10 seconds FLAT.

  • Yea chuck norris actually holds all the world records. The guinness book of world records only lists the people that came closest

  • That was so INCREDIBLE!!!! Somewhere on your brain there are neurons specifically reserved and programmed for Quake.

  • Yes, you have to wait till the teleporter swings by the boss, then you go through & telefrag the boss.

  • Amazing speed, but how come he was waiting at the end? Does the boss have a timer or something?

  • you have to wait for the spikey thing to go to the boss, and then telefrag him

  • A game that took hundreds of people years to make, completed in seconds...

Got to hand it to you, can you do it on the hardest mode though? I'd LOVE to see that.

  • hundreds of people? try 14

  • 14... THOUSAND!!!! MUHAHHAHHAHA!!!

  • lol 'OUCH!' at 3:48!

  • *Id Software Salutes You* What a funny ending!

  • speedrunning is just so cool<3 ive tried speedrun this meself too but not even close good than this :o

  • on that elevator on 3:01, i always stand on the platform just before the elevator :P thats too cool! nice

  • holy shit, the knight exploded! lmfao

    i love doing tht >:)

  • sick!

  • gw there

  • man ur realy sick

  • zombies throw poop at you O-O

  • and yet it kils u

    get the chainsaw *reem reem*

  • bloody well done, brings back great memories
