1972 CHINA boycotted München (Taiwan issue)

By the way, China took part in all olympics after she is recognized by UN, including olympics in Montreal and Moscow.

Oh LOL! You know little about either Olympics or UN.  Firstly; a country does not have to be a member of the UN to participate in the Olympics. Secondly; The UN recognised China in 1945 when it invited the Chinese leadership to participate in the set up etc of the UN following WW2. Finally; Only the Republic of China (Taiwan) participated in the Moscow Olympics as the then Chinese minister responsible for sport notified the Olympic committee that China would not be participating (boycotting).

We in the West are free to criticize not only our media, but also our government.

When China is free enough to allow that, then there'll be a level playing field.

Assuming you're directing this at many countries, I can only respond to this as an American.

In general, the US is not fearing anything. Elitism isn't rooted in fear, but rather rooted in God-complexes. Americans generally feel that they are so great and so powerful, that they entitled to dictate the world. In this case, feeling they have the right to tell China what to do. Does this answer sound worse than the answer you gave? I'd hope it does because it is. (more)
